“They Threatened My Family and Me With Guns…”

Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20 And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.” Daniel 3:19-20 NKJV

Urgent Prayer Request!: Please pray for my new friend and brother in Christ, “Shadrach” who urgently needs to obtain a job, work permit, and visa in Cambodia to avoid being sent back to Pakistan where his former boss is waiting to murder him (and potentially his wife and two small children as well) because he refused to convert to Islam. The boss even sent several armed henchmen to his house to beat and threaten them for several hours in an attempt to force them to convert, but their faith remained strong so they refused. Now, they are being tested in the fires of Cambodia. They have little savings which is running out, the wife has obtained a job and visas for the two children but Shadrach is still vulnerable to being deported back to Pakistan, unless God blesses him with a job soon. I have done what I can to help him practically (fixed his old laptop and helped him back up the files and shared his situation with my social networks in Cambodia etc.).

Chinese Ministry at the international church. We teach the Bible verse-by-verse and English too.

Praise Report! Goliath #1 is Defeated: In May, we lost the funding, that we have depended on since 2007 to pay our housing expenses, because our sending church in the USA hit a financial crisis. This was a very serious loss because without housing, we could have been forced to return to one of our home countries. With little savings or hope of good employment, our situation could have turned dire. By God’s grace on Saturday morning, we were informed that the rest of our monthly housing need has been met with a generous monthly donation!

Prayer Request Goliath #2 is Approaching: In April, Kayo’s parents retired from their management consulting business in Japan. They had been sponsoring Benjamin’s tuition, at Hope School https://www.hope.edu.kh so now that our housing need has been met, we can finally start to seek the funding for Benjamin’s education. We have been paying his $582 monthly tuition out of our savings but that is getting low, we will have to spend some financial reserves from our missions account, but this is a temporary solution. Benjamin is doing well in school, has many friends and activities, and would be lonely in homeschool so that is not a good option either. I (Darryl) am looking into part-time teaching opportunities but this will reduce my ministry capacity. Please pray that God will raise up people around the world who will be called to invest in Benjamin’s education and keep us free to focus on ministry during his school hours.

Prayer Request Goliath #3 TBA:

Kayo organizes a Japanese Life Group monthly. It is the only Christian gathering in Japanese in Cambodia.

Prayer Request Apologetics and Evangelism Class: From October 21 to November 1, I (Darryl) will be teaching Apologetics and Evangelism at Cambodia Bible Institute. Please pray for my teaching and the students’ learning. Also please pray that all of the video and audio equipment will work well enough this time that I can post the students’ videos on social media to minister to others.

Prayer Request International Fishers Videos: Please pray that I will be able to release two new videos in the Cambodian language 1. God’s Motors (bacterial flagellar motors) 2. God’s Camera’s (eyes) between now and the start of the class. Pray for other videos in process as well. My most viewed video on the resurrection is approaching 35,000 views in the Cambodian language.

Other Prayer Requests: Please pray for Kayo’s continued work with Precious Women ministry. Please pray for Kayo’s ministry with the international church’s worship team and the Love Phnom Penh Festival’s (Franklin Graham) choir. Also, please pray for our continued health, strength, and encouragement in the Lord.

In Christ’s Love,

Darryl with Kayo and Benjamin
