The Blue Sheets That Brought Me Comfort – Campos Update August 2023

After 21 hours of traveling, I made it to Israel Tuesday night! When my head hit the pillow that night, suddenly I realized I was in Israel and I was going to be here for 3 months. I have known this but my mind had been too busy preparing for the trip that I had not processed I was leaving the country. I began to miss everyone, my friends, my brothers and sisters in Christ. In that moment, as I laid in bed the only thing that brought me comfort was the sheets I was wrapped in, that a dear friend gave me before leaving. Those sheets were a piece from home I had with me and I was grateful for them. May seem silly but it was what I needed in that moment.

Missions Training Outside Of The Classroom

The few days that I have been here the Lord has been showing me things I have learned from being a missions student at Calvary Chapel Saving Grace. The first thing the Lord showed me was when I was taking the train to get to the house I was going to stay at; a Jewish girl sat next to me and one other student and she began to talk to us and ask us what we were doing here. I began to look around and some men were staring at us as we discussed about bible school. I then remembered all that Pastor Rob has taught us on missions. He has said that we need to read the room, we need to see what people are doing, if people are quiet then we need to be quiet, whatever they are doing we need to do, so that we do not stand out as a foreigner, though we may look like one, we do not want to act like one. We need to be careful about what we talk about and what we share with others. The second thing the Lord showed me was, the difficulty it’s going to be, being away from family and friends and the dependency one has to have on the Lord. The third thing the Lord showed me was, compassion for those who are missionaries; what I am doing in Israel does not compare to the long term calling a missionary has but the Lord gave me a glimpse of how hard it can be doing it alone and not having people you know around you. He also showed me how important it is to have relationships with the missionaries my church has sent out and the importance in interceding for them. Lastly, language is crucial to know in order to minister to people.

My mindset through this all has been the mindset of a missionary. I am no longer in a classroom learning about it. I am now in the field, hands on learning and applying all that I have learned. I am in Israel not for vacation. I am here because I am in training. God continues to put me in places of preparation for long term missions and it can be uncomfortable but I find fulfillment that I am God’s vessel. I am His bondservant ready and available to be used by Him.

JERUSALEM

On Thursday we took a trip to Jerusalem. We walked around and saw various locations. We will be back here to get the tourist side of it, which I am stoked about.

Friday night service is hosted in the house we are staying at. The message is in Hebrew and is translated in English.

Praise Reports

  • Praise God I made it safely to Israel
  • Praise God for all that He is showing me and preparing me for long-term missions
  • Praise God for Calvary Chapel Saving Grace and the church body

Prayer Request

  • Pray for the mission team I will be visiting after CBI Israel as they are facing heavy opposition from the enemy
  • Pray for my brother’s ex wife as she lost her dad Friday morning, that through this she would come into relationship with the Lord
  • Pray that I would take any opportunity I get to serve, to take initiative and put myself out there as I tend to lean on being an introvert in new settings

The Lord Is Working – Pastor Prakash Update September 2023

Calvary Bible Institute Fall Semester 2023

Our new semester has begun. Praise God for having all amazing students. As usual God has brought students from the four directions of our country. We always have heartfelt gratitude toward our Heavenly Father to have more young people join our Calvary Bible Institute, teach them from the Word of God and equip them to advance the Kingdom.

Our Bible Church in the Capital

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 12:24-25 NKJV

It is always a great joy and blessing to come together as the body of Christ and worship our Almighty God and to share our love with each other in His Body.

Preaching the Gospel has always been with much difficulty, everywhere in the world. Our country is filled with many religions. Lately, some religious leaders are trying to evoke a religious war targeted against the Christianity. They say that their aim is to expel all of the Christians from our country. The eastern part of the country has been a main target. They have been trying to destroy the newly built Church there.

The J* area is mostly filled with temples where brother Nikesh’s family is serving. The local people have reported against Gospel preaching at the police station. Preaching is restricted. In spite of the restrictions and persecution the work of the Lord has continued.

Calvary Chapel H*

The Lord is at work. The church is gradually growing. New families are coming. Brother Laxman’s family is serving at H* faithfully, even though they are going through some difficulties and financial hardships.

Blessings!

There is a small market here where people from all different villages come to shop, and there is also a center where people get together and do many things. This is the area we evangelize in. We are praying that we can begin a fellowship in this place and that we can begin a service with my friends in the area. Please pray that in the time ahead, we can rent a house and serve there, too.

Vincent Family September 2023 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

August is always one of the months that I look forward to the most, because we get to host our annual church planting conference. At the start of August we hosted our 8th annual church planting conference with the title, The Sending Hub! The definition of a sending hub is “A church that plants churches, that plant other churches!” The goal of this conference was to inspire pastors and leaders to get involved in the great missions work of planting churches.

This year’s conference was our largest yet, with over 650 guests in attendance. Among those, we had 50 Senior Pastors in attendance and over 80 different churches represented. This conference was unique in that we had 24 workshops available that covered every aspect of church planting.

We also had 8 main plenary speakers that taught on the main aspects of church’s being sending hubs of missions and church planting. Many of my best friends and church planters taught, including Hugo Limon, Aaron Smith, Fernando Serrano, Wes Bentley, Bruce Zackary, and Cory Kilgus. As we have moved forward with this great calling that God has given us, I have seen the Holy Spirit begin to spark a fire of revival with other churches that are catching this same vision.

A special highlight for me was that this conference marked the official release of my new book, The Sending Hub! It was exciting to see so many come over to my book table and not only purchase the book, but ask me to write them a personal message of encouragement inside the front cover. By the end of the weekend, we sold 400 copies of the book in English!

Speaking of the book, just last week, we finally got the book up on Amazon! On Amazon, the book can be purchased in both English or Spanish versions as a hardback, paperback, or digitally for a kindle or tablet! (To find the book on Amazon, simply search for “The Sending Hub”)

During the church planting conference, (and also the following weekend at our main church services) our church was blessed to send out our 37th church plant! My good friend Alex Misac moved up to Rosarito from Colombia over a year ago to train up in our church planting program! Alex left his friends, family, and his country and he took a huge step of faith to serve the Lord and our church family, all the while completing our church planting class. Alex did above and beyond everything I asked of him, and he graduated with excellence.

We were blessed to send Alex to a large (over a million people) city in the north of Colombia called Barranquilla. Alex already has a church planting team waiting for him there to start this great work. And like all of our church planters, Alex doesn’t feel called to just plant a church, but to plant a church that plants other churches!

#1-  That God would bless our new batch of church planting students. (We have 40 enrolled in our Fall 2023 semester classes)

#2-  That my book the Sending Hub would be an effective tool in sharing the message of reaching the world through church planting.

Praise Reports!

#1- Praise God for a blessed 2023 church planting conference!

#2- Praise God for our 37th church plant, Calvary Barranquilla Colombia with Pastor Alex.

For our personal support, checks should be made out to Saving Grace World Missions with “Vincent support” in the memo section.  For special projects, checks should also be made out to Saving Grace World Missions or SGWM, with the project name in the comments section. Have you heard of a Moyobambino? – Weakland Update August 2023

Wherever people come from, they are often called by their city/state/country. For example, a person from the city of Boulder is a boulderite. A person from Colorado is a coloradoan (or a fairly new name is a coloradical). People from Peru are peruvians or in Spanish “peruanos”.

Have you heard of a Moyobambino before? It is not a vegetable nor a species of plant. It is not a hamburger that you order at the restaurant Good Times either. The team of Calvary Moyobamba will be Moyobambinos, because we will be living there!

You are looking at 4 new Moyobambinos not by birth, but by soon to be residence! Pictured are myself (Andrew), Gina, Mili, and Yenry

The Church Building

On the quest to rent a church building month by month, after many appointments, conversations, prayers, and navigating through Moyobamba, one place stood out to us. This place has the space, the feel of church, it’s an ideal location, and has a quiet street next to it. We met up with the renter the second to last day of our week trip and signed the contract! Calvary Moyobamba is going to be a place that teaches sound doctrine and loves the people with God’s love. We are excited and we see God orchestrating it all.

I have decided to teach the book of Mark the Sunday services that will start in October. The idea is to get a concrete understanding of who Jesus is. He has radically transformed my life. By His Word being preached, He can transform the lives of others by His power. Jesus came to serve. Jesus stood against religious bullies. Jesus had compassion on the multitudes of people. Jesus was and is a brilliant teacher to His disciples and others. And He gave His life so that others may have eternal life. There is no one like Jesus in the history of the world! Please pray that the people of Moyobamba can desire to know Him and be conformed to Him.

We also found an apartment for Mili and Gina (the two girls pictured above), who are committed to helping for 6 months! They are happy and will be a huge blessing.

The invasion

We are thankful to have Pastor Cory, Calvary Trujillo, and a Calvary team from Kauai come alongside us the second week of October to help us start the church plant. There will be over 100 people on this trip. Ahsu! (means “oh my!” in Peruvian slang). Our objectives are to let people know there is a church plant and invite them to church. There will be a concert, a barbeque in a park, kids events, evangelism, and much more! I will be coordinating much of this. Please pray!

Connecting with the Locals

Our second to last day was my favorite day. We were able to take a little break and spend time with some local people. We drank coffee, played games, got to know each other, and prayed. Wesley, Pamela, and Karen are excited for the church plant and want to meet up again when we come back. Karen specifically expressed interest in being discipled in the Bible. She is now part of our Friday Zoom prayer group and is very receptive of God’s Word. Pamela is coming to Trujillo in September for the church planting conference, and wants to learn more of God’s ways. She is looking for the next step in her life. Wesley is looking for community and told us he will intentionally not go to his high school graduation because he is turned off by the party scene. Pray that God can use Yenry, Mili, Gina and I to point them to the Bible and that they can be part of Calvary Moyobamba.

Awesome fellowship with some Moyobambinos! Thank you for your prayers. May these friendships, unity, and service unto the Lord Jesus grow.

One way to be part of this work

One way to support us is by giving financially month by month. We are about 60% funded. The funds will be invested in discipling the locals, serving the community, being able to pay rent throughout the years, make trips to other jungle communities from time to time, materials for the church, and much more. At the bottom of this newsletter is where you can give.

Praise reports

Praise God that we have a church building!

Praise God for Yenry, Mili, and Gina. They are so helpful and have many talents that I lack.

Praise God for our friendships with some of the people in Moyobamba and the quality time we spent.

Praise God that He is with us and in a masterful way putting everything together

Prayer requests

Pray that God continues to convict people in Moyobamba of sin and receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Pray that the team and I can stay humble and sensitive to God.

Pray that we can go the next step with our friends in Moyobamba and disciple them.

Pray for financial support

SERVING IN THE HEAT OF THE SUMMER – Mullins Update August 2023

Well, the heat has been turned up here in Loreto with average temperatures well over 100 degrees daily. We are so blessed to be able to continue to serve our Lord and Savior here in Loreto, Baja Sur Mexico.

We had another great time this summer being able to do beach baptisms in the Sea of Cortez. 5 members of Calvary Loreto made the step of obedience and were baptized in front of our church body right there at our local beach. This is such an amazing opportunity to do this right after Sunday’s service as there are hundreds of people just walking by asking us what is going on and we get to explain the message of salvation along with inviting them to Calvary Chapel Loreto.

Calvary Loreto was able to take 20 people to the annual church planting conference at our sending church Calvary Rosarito. Even though the van broke down and it took over 30 hours to get there everyone arrived at God’s perfect timing. This was a time of great encouragement for all. To be taught about why it is so important to model after the book of Acts and plant churches to reach the lost. Once we returned, we went right to work with the start of our 2nd semester in our church planting class. Pastor Elmer leads this weekly class while David and Elmer’s wife Crystal assist. Not only did every man return from the first semester but we have 4 new people attending this semester. Please keep all these students in prayer as they fulfill the calling that God has given them.

As it started getting too hot outside for our toddlers and volunteers, we needed to move our infants/toddlers inside to a cooler location. Thankfully for the faithful supporters, we were able to purchase a new 1-ton air conditioner to cool them off while their parents could be fed the Word of God. We are now up to (14) infants/toddlers at every Sunday and Wednesday’s service. Please pray for more volunteers to help hold these precious babies that the Lord has entrusted us with.

Pastor Elmer finished up the book of John a few weeks back and is now teaching verse by verse through the book of Romans. While Pastor David is still teaching verse by verse in the book Exodus on Wednesdays. It is truly amazing to watch these 2 men be obedient to their calling and to see the Holy Spirit use them week after week to teach and reach those in Loreto with truth and love. Visiting Peru! – Boubion Update August 2023

Peru!

August has been a BIG month for us!

Poiema chose to attend CBI (Calvary Bible Institute) in Trujillo, Perú so I accompanied her as this is a rather BIG step for anyone who has not traveled on a passport! If you’re wondering why people consider Bible Institutes instead of traditional secular universities… it has a lot to do with God’s calling. The universal Christian Church needs workers who know their Bible and want to serve in ministry. Remember that the first universities in the U.S. were started to equip & train and produce ministers and pastors! However, we still have a need for pastors, church planters, and missionaries!

Poiema is now in an exciting place full of adventure and new people. Pray for her!

“Turistiando” being tourists outside of Lima, Peru.
Poiema and I enjoyed a 12-hour layover in Cancún before flying to Lima! (that’s us at the Mayan site Tulum)

Visiting Church Planter Lorezo Ruiz in Peru!

When Poiema and I went to Peru, we had the privilege of visiting our friend Lorenzo Ruiz and his family who live outside of Lima. I planned it so that we arrived in Lima on Wednesday and left Friday so that we could enjoy a few days visiting him and his familia!

In 2022, Lorenzo joined our church planting training school at Calvary Rosarito. He left his wife Rocio and their 3 boys Brayan (12), Angelo (10) and Andriu (7), and came all the way from Calvary Ventanilla outside of Lima, Peru to train with us for one year. I told him we were hoping to visit him and he insisted we stay with him a few days at his house. He said, “Pastor Pablo, I know you Americans are different…. and you like your privacy when you travel… but, I really want you to stay at my house!” Of course, hospitality is a beautiful quality and I discovered that hospitable people like the Ruizes want to be inconvenienced on your behalf to show you their love. Isn’t that beautiful?

Poiema with Marisol (Lorenzo’s sister in law (L) and his wife Rocio (R)

They fell in love with Poiema and now she is family! I told her, from now on, she must stay with them a couple days whenever traveling through Lima!

It is a great privilege to encourage church planters!

I talked with Lorenzo about his plans and vision for these difficult inaugural months. He is basically starting from zero going to a bustling suburb of Lima 15 min from his house. I got to hear and see first hand his plan in action. I gave him words of encouragement and faith as I saw him full of contagious enthusiasm!

One of the coolest things I saw was a living room full of family and friends that want to follow Lorenzo to Calvary Puente Piedra to assist in the work and be trained. I told him, that is the sign that you are a good leader! You have people wanting to follow!

Thank you!

Finally, Lorenzo and I want to thank all who of you from CCSG that donated funds to Lorenzo in June when we had our ministry update barbecue at the Groves! Finances are always a need and a great blessing. He sends a special thanks to Mike Vincent for the great mentoring and training he got at Calvary Rosarito!

Also, thank you to those who have been so generous in supporting the Boubions financially! My wife and I were so blessed by your generosity. We have already put those funds to good use supporting our women’s ministry as well as the expenses for visiting and blessing church planters like Lorenzo in Puente Piedra, Peru!!

Claudia’s Trip to Her Birthplace!

Claudia and my daughter Natalie visited family in Guadalajara, Jalisco while I was in Peru.

They spent their whole time visiting her aunts and uncles and cousins. Her tia (aunt) Araceli accompanied them everywhere including a visit to Guanajuato and San Miguel Allende (two colonial Silver Cities)

Prayer Requests:

  1. That we will always make our relationship and time with Jesus #1
  2. For Poiema as she studies and serves abroad at CBI, Peru with Pastor Corey Kilgus! Pray for God’s provision and faith!
  3. For Claudia, as she develops a new women’s study designed to teach them how to study the Bible verse by verse and teach others! And, to reach the hundreds of women who aren’t being discipled and choose the right day and time for it!
  4. For Lorenzo & Rocio and their family as they start Calvary Puente Piedra! For the core team that is forming. For people from all classes and cultures to feel welcomed and loved as they join the church.
  5. For my daughter Lydia and future son in law Geoff Hamano as they prepare for a wedding!
  6. For my kids Cristian, Ben and Natalie. To love and walk closer to God!

Standing Firm In God’s Word – Pastor 8* Update August 2023

Greetings in the Name of Jesus Christ!

I am delighted to inform you that through your prayers and by the grace of God, we are doing well. I would like to thank you for your concern. I am faithfully doing my devotions and Bible study.

I am also doing church ministry, home visiting, praying in homes, and outreach ministry where I share the Gospel and pray for the sick.

This week, I visited three families who invited me to come because they have physical problems. I shared the Word of God with them and encouraged them to believe in Jesus’ name, and then I prayed for them. This Sunday, one of the families attended church!

Please continue to pray for our ministry here and the situation in our state these days. It is very difficult to serve the Lord because of persecution!! Please remember my wife and my two children in your prayers so that we will be fully equipped for ministry.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for G.N.*, who is demon-possessed.
  • Please pray for S*; she is only five years old and has swelling in her lungs.
  • Please pray for G*’s health problem.

In the Lord,

Your Brother,

Pastor 8* and Family

God’s Strength in the Face of Opposition – Pastor 10* Update August 2023

Jai Masih ki (Praise the Lord) to all of you!

Thanks be to the Lord as He has kept us all safe until now and has blessed us all. I am so grateful to the Lord that He has provided for all of my needs and has kept my health good. How we thank Him for the church building construction that is still going on and will soon be completed! Thank you so much for continuing to pray for us!!

Praise the Lord that currently 12-13 people come to my church! Three of them are non-believers, but all of them also come to church on Sundays. I am very happy that the parents who used to forbid the youth in the village to come to church are not stopping them now! Thanks be to the Lord, He changed their hearts! So now they are all able to come to the church!!

Recently, I met a family from a village, named P*. I have asked for prayer for this family before, because they seem to be slowly coming to God. I shared the Gospel with this family. One of the family members is a person named V*. He has a wife and two small children. Every three or four days I visit them.

One time their neighbors came while I was there. They came while I was in prayer. Two more neighbors also came and were listening. The neighbors sat near us while I preached the Gospel of the Lord. Then, the neighbors started asking me, “Why do you come here? Why are you taking them away from their deities?”

I thanked Lord in my heart and told them, “I have come to tell you that people should know the truth, and know the true Lord. Those who are believing in superstition should also know the truth of the Lord and should not live their lives in darkness.”

The Lord comforted and took care of the believing family I was visiting while they were in deep sorrow. The family said to their neighbors, “Why are you saying these things?”

We talked a lot, I told them all about the Lord’s Gospel. Please pray for their neighbors to come to know the Lord. Also pray that the believing family doesn’t turn away from Jesus Christ. The neighbors told me not to come to the village again. Pray that at the right time, the Lord will give me courage so that I can go back.

Another thing happened recently, I met a brother a few weeks ago. He was wearing a cross around his neck. He came with a friend of mine, and we sat talking. There were two more people with him. While we were talking, my eyes fell on his neck, and I saw the cross.

I asked him, “Why are you wearing this around your neck?” He told me that he used to believe in Jesus Christ. He also explained that he does not agree with what the villagers believe, so he wears the cross. I thanked the Lord and preached the Gospel to him. I shared my testimony with him. There were two other people with him who were listening to everything. I said to him, “The Lord is powerful, and He will save you, but you must believe!” I told him many things. I also explained the Gospel further to him, so that the others who were there would also be able to understand. The one with the cross necklace gave me his number. I said that I would call him every other day. Now, I am encouraging him through phone call conversations to fully come back to Jesus. The other two who were with him asked many questions, and the Lord helped me to answer all of them. Thank God! He has truly made a connection with these people so they can hear the Gospel.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for the brother who was a believer, but had quit attending fellowship with the circle of believers. Pray that he will return to the faith. Also pray for the two other people who heard the Gospel of Lord while I talked with him. May the Lord turn their hearts toward Him.
  • Pray for the family in the village that I regularly visit. Pray that they will grow in the Lord. Also pray that the neighboring family, who is opposing them and forbidding me to come, will have changed hearts.
  • Pray for me. Pray that there will not be any opposition in the places where I go to visit and meet people, so that I can preach the Gospel and people will be open to the Gospel.
  • Pray for the youth of my village to walk according to the Word of the Lord. Pray for their relatives to also come to know the Lord soon.
  • Pray for the area I live and work in. Pray for all of the leaders who belong to the Hindu political party and for those who do not want the Lord’s kingdom to spread. Pray that their hearts will be changed by the Lord.
  • Pray that the Lord will speak to those to whom I have preached the Gospel and change their hearts so that they will come to faith in Him.
  • Pray for me as I go different places to preach the Gospel. May the Lord strengthen and bless me in the ministry He has given me so that many souls can be saved.
  • Pray for my health. My health is slowly improving. May God heal me completely, so that I can do ministry well.

Amen.

Praise the Lord!

Thank you!

All to the Glory of God – Pastor 7* update August 2023

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments.”

Psalm 133:1-2

Dear Co-laborers with Christ,

The Lord has been doing great things as He continues to open great and effective doors. I am very thankful for your continued prayers and love as we co-labor in the furtherance of the Gospel.

This past month was great because I was able to do ministry with a brother that is dear to me. When I was in Bible College, all my leaders poured their hearts into me. They shared their experience and knowledge of the Bible with me. I am so thankful for all the unity and faithfulness shown to me by my leaders and how God equipped me through them. Now the Lord has provided me with the opportunity to do the same toward others who also desire to serve in ministry. I am reminded of 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” This is because C*, who was one of my students at one of the Bible Colleges I taught at, now has a heart that is ready to leave his home and move to a different district to begin ministry. Before starting his ministry, he wanted to visit and observe the village ministry I am doing.

We visited a backslidden family and spent time ministering to them and reminding them of the importance of being in church and in fellowship. It is so important for all believers to be in communion with God daily; whether we have been walking with the Lord for a few days or many years. We encouraged them, shared God’s Word with them, and prayed for them. It was great too for this family to hear C*’s testimony and see that another man who fears God took the time to visit and minister to them.

We also visited a sister who is a new believer and encouraged her as well. She is very interested to learn about Jesus, but sometimes feels hesitant to read her Bible because of lack of knowledge and understanding, However, I shared how it is good to make time to study God’s Word daily and not only open it up on Sundays. We continued in fellowship with her and teaching her worship songs so she can include them in her devotional time with God.

In the past few months I have been visiting these children, hoping to grow and establish friendships with them. I have been trying to learn their names, become familiar with their families, and see where they are with their studies and classes. I am basically growing in relationships with them to help to plant seeds of the Gospel in their hearts. As they learn songs and the Word of God, I pray that their little hearts will be very big to receive God!

God is always faithful and good. I am thankful to have been able to share these ministry moments with my dear brother, C*, who I know will be used in a powerful way by God to impact His Kingdom. I also pray that the people we visit will be transformed by the Word of God and that as they grow in knowledge of our Lord, that they will find comfort and hope deep in their hearts.

Please Pray:

  • For Gospel seeds to land on good soil and take deep roots.
  • For God’s continued guidance in ministry opportunities.
  • To find a place closer to my area of ministry.
  • For good health and safe driving conditions.

God bless,

Pastor 7*
