Taking the Good News to an Isolated Land

Last month, we were able to hike with a team to reach a new mountain area and it was one of the most blessed opportunities for us. The place is inhabited by tribal people that follow Buddhism. They are strict in their beliefs and culture. However, we were able to take the gospel of good news to that isolated and difficult land.

God is so wonderful that He provided a team from another Calvary Chapel to venture with us. We were altogether a team of 20 (8 from the states and 12 Nepalis) along with some porters hiking for many hours into the highs and lows of mountain.

We were warned in advance that the place is strictly prohibited for sharing the good news and people are hostile toward any new teachings. However, upon reaching there we found the opposite was true. The people were in fact very kind and welcoming. As we started to share, the people began to gather and heard the gospel enthusiastically. We thank God that He opened the heart of these people and the door for this opportunity. We are happy that the seed has been sown in this prohibited location, probably for the first time.

We are trusting that God will do wonderful work in this area by bringing these mountain people in His Kingdom.

Here are some prayer requests:

  • We are trusting God to change the hearts of people where gospel fell, and turn to Jesus.
  • For the local pastor in a nearby mountain area that helped lead us to this new place as he needs God’s guidance, wisdom and filling of the Spirit in coming days.
  • We are thankful for this mission, and may God bless the team in the days ahead.
  • Pray for us also for His guidance, strength and wisdom as my wife and I will be parents soon.

Thank you for your prayers,

Pastor Raju and Srijana

God’s Faithfulnes

Thanks be to God! He has done wonderful things in and through my life. God has blessed me and the ministry abundantly.

I am serving in a northern mountainous area. As I am serving at the Calvary Chapel here, God is bringing an increase to our church. Currently, we are having fellowship in two places. One place lies in a valley and the other is on top. God is working in these areas. I am blessed that He is using us.

This year, a Calvary Chapel group visited us and shared the Gospel in the majority of the villages here. We were privileged to share the Gospel through various means, including programs and children’s ministry. Many have heard the Gospel and are believing in Jesus. One person with kidney failure is also coming to church along with his family. I want to thank the Calvary Chapel team for helping minister in our area.

“Eyes has not seen, nor ear has heard, nor have entered into the ears of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

1 Cor. 2:9

Currently, there is at least one church in every village in the northern of a certain region of our country. The Gospel has been preached in many ways. But the current church needs proper teaching of the Word of God. My wife and I are praying and making plans for the same.

In December of this year, we are hosting a youth and pastors’ conference at a church there. We have been praying for this for a long time. The Calvary Chapel team is also coming to this conference. This village is at a higher altitude than our village. Reaching there is a challenge. It is also the place of my in-laws’ house.

Currently, my wife and I are serving in the church at the top of the mountain. Each week we have a women’s fellowship, a youth fellowship, a children’s fellowship, and a mid-week house fellowship. I also visit the church in the valley and my in-laws’ church for the ministry of the Word.

I thank all of you for helping us.

Blessings,

Pastor Raju and Srijana

A Moment of Celebration and Opportunity

We, together with our Calvary Chapel church family, celebrated Christmas this year in an open area outside of the church. Many people, including our neighbors, attended the program. We got the opportunity to share the love of God and the reason for Christmas with them. It was a joyful moment to share the Gospel to the people from our community who attended. People from all backgrounds and ethnic groups were present. Most of them heard the Gospel for the first time. This season became not just a moment of celebration, but also an opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ. We are praying that all the people who gathered may believe in Jesus Christ.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray that those who heard the Gospel in our open event may come to our church and find Jesus.
  • Pray that God strengthens us (me and my wife) with His wisdom and knowledge for the ministry of God.
  • Please pray for our church building.
  • Pray for the leading of God to guide the church and all of its members in a loving and godly way.
  • Pray that my father and mother also may come to Christ.

Celebrating the New Bridge Our Church Built

Praise Report!

Our Calvary Chapel Church has made a wooden bridge over the river for our village! Now, people can go from one village to another easily. They can walk straight across!

Prayer Requests:

1). May the Lord grant me open doors for Gospel outreach during this time and may our church grow spiritually.

2). Please pray for our Calvary Chapel church building.

Worshiping the Lord Together During Our Christmas Day Celebration

3). Please pray that I will grow more and more spiritually in the Lord.

Thank you!

Blessings!

Our Christmas Celebration

Raju’s Story

Raju first heard the Gospel from his brother who had moved from their village to the capital city where his brother grew up in a children’s home. Raju accepted Christ as a youth after hearing the Gospel from his older brother. After becoming a Christian, Raju began sharing the Gospel with others in his village. He realized his need to grow and get further training in the Word of God and decided to attend the Calvary Chapel Pastors Training Center and School of Ministry.

During his two years of studies, he returned to his home village area during the school breaks and held bible study for those living in his village. Raju graduated in 2018 and returned to his village with an even greater burden to reach people for Christ. His village is a 6 hour hike from the closest road and is higher than the clouds, but God is doing a great work through Raju. He has planted a Calvary Chapel and it is the first church in a predominately Hindu area.
