Sustained by God’s Goodness

Praise the Lord! Happy New Year to you all!

God’s goodness and faithfulness sustained us and gave us another year to do the work of the Gospel.  We pray that this year 2023 would be the year of God’s blessings for us all. May the Lord shower His love and grace on us all!  I would also like to thank you all for partnering with us in the work of the Gospel through your continued prayers and sacrificial financial gifts. We look forward for your continued partnership this year as well.

We are doing well spiritually though sometimes not doing too good physically. Still, the Lord by His grace has been giving us strength to do the work He has called us to do. Not only He gives us strength to do the ministry, but He opens the doors for the ministry.

As I have shared with you, in our state persecution of Christians is severe.  In November and December it was even worse. Thousands of new believers in Jesus have been beaten very badly and driven from their villages. Their belongings have been looted. Their houses demolished and their agriculture fields have taken by the village people. In spite of this persecution and opposition, the Lord opens doors for us and gives us the boldness to preach the Gospel.

Sometimes the Lord brings individuals on our way and gives us the opportunity to share the Gospel with them. One evening, as I was coming back home on my scooter from a shopping center, a young man asked me for a ride.  He had to catch a bus and the bus stand was five minutes’ drive. I gave him a ride to the bus stop. While I was driving, I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to share the Gospel with him, but I thought, “How I can share the Gospel to him in just few minutes?”

I was trying to ignore the Spirit of God, but the man began to talk to me. He asked me about my work and I told him that I am a pastor.  He did not know what a pastor is. I told him that I am a Christian priest.

He said, “Oh, yes! On the 25th you have Christmas.” I asked him if he knew why we celebrate Christmas and he didn’t know that. So, I shared about the purpose of Christ coming, His death and resurrection in three minutes. I dropped him where he had to catch the bus and asked him if would like to know more about Jesus. With his consent, I gave him a copy of the New Testament (I always keep one or more copies rapped in gift pack with me).

We visited a government school with the head teacher’s permission to do an awareness program. We performed some skits to teach the students about personal hygiene. After the program, we distributed fruit to the students and then they were sent to their class rooms.  As the students were in their class rooms, we had tea with the teachers. While we were having tea with the teachers, some of us went to the class rooms and sang Gospel songs and shared the Gospel with them.

We had a Christmas out-reach program for the children, which was attended by more than 60 non-Christian children.  We shared the Gospel with them through a story, songs and skits. We played games with them and distributed snacks and gifts.

We also visited an nursing home with groceries and fruit. We were also given the opportunity to share the Gospel with them. We spent some time talking with the individuals and thus we could show the love of Christ to them. Many people visit them and give them groceries, but no one gives their time to them. When we spent time talking to them personally, they opened themselves to us. Some of them wept as they were touched by the love we showed them. The manager of the nursing home was so happy and asked us to revisit. He said, “Don’t bring any thing, but please visit us again.”

I had the privilege to be the chief guest in a Christmas program of a Christian hospital in the city. Many city officials and politicians were also invited. More than a thousand people were there. The Lord gave me this privilege to share the Gospel at this big gathering. I was given 15-20 minutes to share and I shared from Luke 19:10. I shared about the triple ‘S’ that is 1) Son of man, 2) Seeker and 3) Savior. Basically I shared two things: first “What is Christmas?” – God became the Son of man; secondly, the “What is the purpose of Christmas?” – 1) to the seek the lost and 2) to save the lost. The Lord helped me to finish my teaching in time. Please pray for those who heard the Gospel.

Our daughter got a job in the UK. She left our country on December 20th. We were sad that she could not be with us for Christmas, but were happy that she got the job she wanted. Please pray for God’s protection on her life.

Thank you for your prayers for us and the ministry. We pray for you all. May the dear Lord bless you richly!

Every Opportunity Is Precious

Praise the Lord for His faithfulness. It is by His goodness and faithfulness that we are still alive and doing the work of the Gospel. I would also like to thank you all for your continued prayers for us and for the ministry of the Gospel. Our special thanks to all of you who are sacrificially supporting us financially.

We are doing well spiritually, though sometimes not doing too good physically. But still the Lord, by His grace, is giving us strength to do the work He has called us to do. He not only gives us strength to do the ministry, but He opens up doors for the ministry. As I have shared with you, in our state persecution of Christians is severe. We are not allowed to bury new believers who die. Even if we bury the dead, when the Hindus come to know that Christians have buried a new believer’s dead body, they come and excavate the body. In spite of these persecutions and oppositions, the Lord opens doors for us to preach the Gospel.

One of our relatives bought a new car. The day he bought the car he took sweets and snacks for the workers at the car showroom. There are more than fifty workers and all of them gathered there by the car at the time of delivery. I was also invited to pray for the new car before it was taken out of the showroom. I had the opportunity to share the Gospel for fifteen minutes. None of the men and woman who works at the car showroom is a Christian. All of them listened to the Gospel silently and I prayed for the workers before I prayed for the car. In Ephesians 5:16 the Scripture says, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” The Hindi translation says, “Consider every opportunity precious.” The Lord gives us each opportunity and we should not let it go.

In our Calvary Bible Institute, the second semester has started. During this semester, the students are taught I and II Samuel, Ezra and Nehemiah, the Gospel of Luke, Acts, Romans, and I & II Corinthians. The men are doing well and enjoying their time in the Word. I am teaching my favorite book–the book of Romans. I am always blessed when I read this book. It is a great encouragement in our weaknesses and challenge to live Christian lives. It explains the Gospel that: “Christ died for the ungodly… God exhibited his love towards us while we were yet sinners… For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son… We are justified by His blood, we shall be saved.”

“Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ?” What a great question! This is answered in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Last month, we were able to attend a pastors conference in our neighboring country. It was a time of refreshment and encouragement. Each day, for three days, we had three sessions in which various pastors taught the Word. The theme for the conference was “Seeing Jesus.” We were encouraged to follow Jesus in our Christian walk and in our ministry.

The believers in our fellowship have been protected by the Lord, meanwhile Christians are being persecuted everywhere in our state and also there are many car accidents. Though some of the Christians in our fellowship have had accidents, the Lord has saved them and kept them alive. Two young women had accidents twice in two weeks. One of them broke 2 of her teeth. A pastor from another church, who is our neighbor, lost both of his parents on the same day in an accident last week. His parents were in a scooter and a pickup truck hit them and both of them died at the scene. Every day people are losing their lives in accidents. Please continue to lift us up in your prayers.

Thank you for being a part of the ministry of the Gospel.

The Lord Is Our Protector

We praise God for His love and His faithfulness. He has kept us safe till this day and used us for His glory. We thank you also for your continued prayers for us and for our ministry. Because of your prayers we are experiencing God’s protection over our life.

We don’t know if you are aware or not about what is happening in our country because the media does not publish it. Persecution on minorities is intensifying day by day in our country. Especially in our state, Christians are being persecuted. Believers of the Lord are beaten, churches are burnt. Pastors are killed. These extremist Hindu groups are even not allowing dead bodies of new believers to be buried. Last week, two such incidents happened in two different villages near our town. The dead bodies were decaying for two days in both cases. Because of the fear of radical Hindu groups, the Christians in our town did not allow these dead bodies to be buried in the Christian graveyard in our town. One dead body was taken to another town secretly and buried in a Christian graveyard before the radical groups came. The second dead body was left at the burial site of the village by the believers saying, ‘let the dogs and birds eat it.’ After this, the police dug a grave and buried the body.

Last month, I was in a car accident. I was driving my small car on the right side of the road and a big car came at high speed from the opposite side and hit my car. I was alone in the car. My car was badly damaged, but the Lord protected me. My head was hurt, but not very bad. I was taken to the Christian hospital and the doctor told me that there is nothing to be worried about. The next day, I had to hire a crane to pick up the car and take it to the workshop.

Church ministry is going well. All of the believers and our co-workers are doing well in the Lord. We visit the believers in the evening because they are at home during that time. Family visitation gives us the opportunity to share the Gospel with the believers’ non-Christian relatives. Rainy season has started. It is raining almost every day. Sometimes we come home after visiting families, soaking in the rain. In the past, being soaked by the rain, especially in the evening, often made me sick. So far this year, the Lord has kept me healthy. My wife has not been very well. In January she was hospitalized, and she has still been taking different medications. Please pray that the Lord will give her good health.

This month we started Bible College. We have six students. They are all from Hindu backgrounds. Two of them are mature believers. Please pray that these students would be prepared for the work of the Gospel and pray for God’s protection as Hindu radicals are targeting Christians in our state.

Thank you for your partnership in the ministry through your prayers and financial support.

God Is Opening New Doors

Sorry for the delay in sending this update! We praise God for you all and for your love for the Lord and for His ministry. Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support.  We appreciate you all for partnering with us in the ministry of the Gospel. Though persecution is increasing in our area, the work of the Lord is continuing to grow.  Because of your prayers, the Lord is opening new doors for ministry.  We know that we are weak, but the Lord is mighty. Because of your prayers, we get courage and power to progress in ministry with the power of God.

The Lord has opened a new door for ministry in a village that is about 20 kilometers from our home town. Two families in the village have believed in Jesus. They went through lots of persecution, but they remained faithful to the Lord. The Lord has given us this opportunity to teach them the Word and help them grow in Him.

We have started Sunday worship as well in this village. There are 9 people in one family and 5 people in the other family. They have all been baptized except for the grandfather. Please pray that this fellowship will grow and that many more families of the village and its surrounding area will be saved. Please also pray that the Lord will protect this fellowship and us from opposition and that if again persecution arises, the Lord will give us boldness to face it and be His witnesses to the persecutors.
There a is joint family in the city, where an elderly widow lives with her older son’s widow and her two children (22 year-old son and 16 year-old daughter) and her second son and his wife and their three children.  This elderly woman’s husband died when he was still young. Her older son died while he was also young. Now, her younger son is sick.
The family has spent so much money in his treatment, but there has been no improvement in his health.  He is the provider for the whole joint family. The family is afraid that he will also die young, as the other two male members of the family have.
This family invites us for prayer. We have been visiting the family and sharing the Gospel with them. We came to know that they are also going to Muslims and Hindu sorcerers. So, last time we visited them we told them that our God does not share His glory with anyone else. They have to stop going to other gods and believe in Jesus only if they want to see the Lord’s work.  We ask for your prayers for this family.

We still do Sunday Service’s message on Facebook live.  We have not stopped this live message because many non- Christians listen to the messages on Facebook.  Please pray for those non-Christians–that the Word of God will change their lives and they will come to the saving knowledge of the Lord.

On Thursday night, before Good Friday, we showed the film “Passion of Christ”. For the first time we had a feet washing ceremony (right). May the Lord help us to be humble in our heart and follow His foot steps in everything that we do.

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support for the ministry.

Peace That Passes All Understanding

We are glad to send out this news update.  Thank you so much for your prayers.

We urge you to continue to uphold us and all the Christians in our country in your prayers.  You must be aware of the increased persecution in our country.  The persecution is very wide spread and intense in our state. Almost every Sunday, churches are attacked by various Hindu groups. Police are taking no action against the persecutors, instead, pastors are arrested on false charges. Large numbers of people in the extremist Hindu group are protesting on roads and shouting slogans against Christians. They are asking the government to declare our country a Hindu country and to cancel the citizenship of Christians and Muslims. These extremist groups are falsely accusing Christians of converting people by giving them money and of blaspheme against their gods and goddesses.

Celebrating the Bible College Graduation

We are not in panic–we know that God is on the throne. All these things are actually preparing for the growth of the Gospel.  People know that all these accusations against Christians are not true. We are very hopeful that we will have a great harvest in coming years. Please continue to pray for our country.

On September 26th we had a dedication and certificate distribution ceremony for our Bible College students. Due to COVID 19 protocol, we were not allowed to have a big gathering, but we were able to have our students with us. We had a small graduation ceremony. We prayed over them and committed them to the Lord for the work of the Gospel. It was nice to see them all after a year and a half. The Word was shared by our son to encourage them and every member of the church to do the work of the Gospel. Please pray that these students would be effective witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ.

One Saturday we did social work to connect with the society. We, along with some of our church members, cleaned our neighborhood. We invited the local political leader to come and commence the work. We are praying and seeking God about going to the Government Hospital in December to distribute fruit to the patients. Whatever we do, we want to do it in the name of the Lord. Please pray that the name of the Lord would be glorified.

Cleaning Our Neighborhood

Thank you for your prayers! We are doing well by God’s grace. My wife has some health issues, please pray that the Lord will heal her.

We Walk By Faith

Greetings in Jesus’ name!

We have been praying for you all, and we believe that you are doing well by His grace. We are so thankful to you, for your constant prayers for us and the ministry in our country. We are doing well here, in spite of the increase of Covid-19 cases in our country.

These past few months have really not been good humanly speaking. We have seen many of our Christian friends and relatives go to be with the Lord. More than this, so many non-Christians have died during these last two or three months. We are sorry about the death of unbelievers because they are lost forever. We urge you to please pray for the unbelieving Christians (Christians in name only) and non-Christians: that before departing from this world they would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Burial Service for Our Church Member

One of the members of our church also went to be with the Lord this month. He was a first generation Christian. His wife died last year in November and five months later he died. His wife did not die due to Covid-19, but this brother died due to Covid-19.

His younger son and his family are also followers of Jesus. The villagers are pressuring this family to come back to the Hindu faith. Villagers say, “If you were Hindus, your parents would have not died. Disown Jesus and come back to the Hindu faith.”

Last week, they sent two policemen to this family to pressure them to perform Hindu rituals for the dead. Praise the Lord! This family remained strong in their faith. Though we are not allowed to visit any families during this lock-down, I was able to go and visit this family, encourage them, and pray with them.

Recording Online Church Services

Since we are not allowed to gather together to worship, we are doing our worship services online. Besides our weekly church service, we have a daily meeting with our co-workers Monday thru Thursday from 12 to 1:30 and on Fridays we have fasting prayer together. We also keep in touch with the church members by calling them on the phone. I am also busy translating an English commentary on Acts into our national language.

Translating an English Commentary into the National Language

Physically, my wife and I are not doing well. My wife has severe back pain. When she takes medicine and rests, she gets some relief. But after a day or two, she has the same problem again.

Please Pray For:

  • The pandemic situation in our country
  • For God’s protection over His people
  • For the family that is being pressured by the villagers to reconvert to Hinduism
  • For our health
  • For our daughter. She is a trained nurse and has been working with Covid patients.

Thank you so much for standing with us and for your partnership in ministry.

The Lord Sustains Us

Dear prayer partners and supporters,

Spending Time With My Mother

Thank you for constant prayers and support. We appreciate that you are standing with us in prayers and extending financial support to us even during this tough situation which is affecting everyone due to the Corona virus.

My mother lives with my sister about 6 hours away. We were able to see my mother and celebrate her 92nd birthday. She has trouble hearing, so we could not talk to her much but we were able to spend time with her.

Some families from our church are being persecuted by their village. The government has some programs that help provide villagers work. The Christians are not allowed to work in the village. They are also not given any of the privileges that they should have for being members of the village.

God’s Word Was Shared at the Wedding

The daughter of one of the Christian families was married last month. We prayed that the village people would not cause any problem for the Christian wedding. Praise the Lord! The wedding was wonderful. The weather was cloudy and it rained in surrounding areas, but it did not rain in the village until the wedding program was over and every one was gone.

Worshiping the Lord Together
Helping with the Wedding

Persecution is increasing in our area. Christian leaders and new believers in Jesus are beaten. But, the Spirit of God is also changing lives. More and more Hindus are believing in Jesus. Thank you everyone for praying for the 10/40 window. God is answering the prayers of His faithful ones.

Co-workers in Christ,

Our Hope in Jesus Is Certain

The Christian Burial of a Woman From Our Church

Greetings to you all! Merry Christmas! Praise be to God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ for sustaining us and providing all of our needs even in this time of the pandemic. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. We have been praying for you–that the Lord would supply all of your needs and keep you and your family safe.

This pandemic has affected every one in the world. Nothing seems to be certain. Praise God that our hope in Jesus is certain!  The day of his return is near. He came into this world two thousand years ago as a baby and we are preparing to celebrate his birth, but now He is coming to take us, His bride, home. Let us hold on to this sure promise of the Lord and be ready to meet Him.

Praise the Lord! We were able to have a Christian Funeral

Last month one woman from our church, who was around 60 years old, went to be with the Lord.  She had been ill, but not seriously ill. She was a first generation Christian. Her husband also comes to church and her younger son and his family are believers in Jesus, but her older son and his family are not. We thought that the village people would create a problem for her funeral ceremony, but they did not. Praise the Lord! These days are not easy for Christians in our country and especially for new believers.
We are still doing audio teachings for our students. We are not sure yet when government will allow schools and colleges to reopen.
Please pray for us and the ministry in our country.

Thank you so much for your partnership in the ministry of the Gospel.

The Lord is My Deliverer

So sorry that it has been so long since we have written. We are doing well. We pray that the Lord will keep you safe as the whole world is going through this pandemic.

We had one week left to finish our fourth semester of the Bible college when a total lockdown was imposed in our country. Immediately, we had to send the students home.  Now the lockdown has been lifted, with some restrictions, but we still can not reopen the Bible college. All schools and colleges are closed.  We can not reopen Bible college this year. When other schools and colleges open then we will also be able to start our new semester.

We can’t gather together for Sunday Service yet. We are having online services.  Praise the Lord for technology! Online service is a blessing. Many non-Christian friends are able to join with us for our Sunday services and are hearing the Gospel!  We pray that these non-Christian friends will believe in Jesus and call upon His name and be saved.

We have been going through some hard times in life. Persecution broke out in the North where our son was. Our son was taken to the police station and flogged (beaten) by the police. He was charged with converting people (to Christianity) with foreign aid. He was continually harassed by the police, but no Christian stood with him. Finally, we had to take him out from there. Now he is with us. Our local co-workers there have been harassed by political people, anti-Christian groups and police. Now, the Lord heard our prayers and the situation is better.

The people (who were harassing our friends in the North) have some photos of us and our local workers with our American friends and with Christian literature. They have gotten these from Facebook. Please do not post any photos of you with any of us. We need your prayers.

Thank you for your prayers and support!

Co-workers in Christ,
