The Lord Provides The Increase

Sharing the Gospel with one of our translators Jessica at the roaming flea market.

I wanted to quickly clarify that my longterm hope, prayer and goal is to plant churches, do missions, and aid in raising up the next generation of pastors! With all of that said, this season is one of preparation and I know that according to His faithfulness He will bring me where He wants me—so in this season of preparation I’m going to be faithful where He’s put me.

The Rock’s Time in Mexico!

In June, I took a short term missions trip and we were able to be a part of so much that the Lord has been doing in the Rosarito, Mexico area. It was good to return to Calvary Rosarito, and to come alongside Calvary Chapel Homex again. This trip focused on outreach this year!

One of my favorite moments was getting to do outreach with CC Homex. We had jump houses, face painting, food distribution, and a lot of sharing with people about Jesus. While we were in the park, a man with an ice cream cart stood near the park ringing his bell. One of our team members went up and gave him a tract with a Gospel of John booklet. Those who kept an eye on what was happening saw that He was reading the Gospel of John… for a while… then, not too long after, another team member gave him some lunch. Shortly after, one of our pastor’s encouraged me to grab a translator and go and speak with him. I went with one of our translator’s Victor who translated for me as we got to ask questions and share the Gospel with Hugo. We learned that he had just moved up to Baja California from Mexico City. As we talked with Hugo it became quickly apparent that he was ready. Tears began to stream down his face, and even more so as I began to explain his (our) need for Jesus. I asked him if he wanted to, “receive the forgiveness that only Jesus could offer him,” and he said yes! Please be praying for Hugo as we were able to connect him with the pastor of Calvary Homex and were able to get him a Bible. Lord willing we will see him next time too!

Hugo reading the tract and Gospel of John before we talked with him.
Viktor and I praying with Hugo after he gave his life to Jesus!
Praying after we finished our outreach with CC Homex.

Another praise report would be that we got to see a man named Pasqual who we met in the dump in Rosarito last year. This was the same man who had been witnessed to for two years and had not wanted to give his life to Jesus, but we saw that fruit last summer. It was a huge blessing to see him at church in Homex this year during our trip. The Lord has done so much and is doing so much in these areas. Your prayers are effective as they are working—would you please continue to labor with us and pray for what He’s doing in Mexico.

In the middle is Pasqual sitting in at a church service at CC Homex.

What’s next?

I am going to be heading up the middle school ministry at the Rock! We have had our Jr.High and High School together for several years and in some ways it has sort of swallowed up our Jr. High so we are making the change to have our own Middle School ministry and I’m excited to see what the Lord is going to do! Please pray that the Lord would do what He wants to with His ministry! I’m excited to have an opportunity to help get a ministry started and I am really looking forward to getting to disciple the younger generation! In a seminary class I took I found out that 75% of those who give their lives to the Lord do so by the age of 13, then 85% do so by the age of 18. I just want to be faithful in what He’s set before me. My heart is certainly for missions and church planting and so I will still be seeking to go on short term trips wherever possible for when the Lord might open that door in the future.

As for trips that are coming up our church is going to Nepal this October! I’m excited to get to go and serve in a country where only 2% of people are believers. I am in need of your prayers and support for provision. The need for the trip is $1,200. I cannot get there on my own, but am looking forward to all that the Lord will do in that time. We will be partnering with missionaries who have been discipling and sending out pastors all over that part of the world and will get to bring Jesus there as well. Here’s how you can get involved!

Long Time No See!

The Lord has been doing so much! It’s been a very stretching and growing season, but I know the Lord is placing me right where He wants me. Since I last sent out an update I had been feeling led to start pursuing my MDiv. After being accepted into seminary I completed my first class this last fall; it was great! As I began I was thinking that I would be able to move into full-time schooling while working full-time and being in ministry part-time, but the pricing for tuition is too much for me to afford right now (especially as I was hoping to get scholarships and financial aid). At present, the door on pursuing that lengthy of a degree would seem to be shut, but should He reopen that door then I would gladly continue those studies.

All of that said, my time has been very full. I’m working as close to full-time as possible 34-40 hrs a week (I’m also about a year away from being able to get a license in cabinet-making which could be a great tent-making skill should the opportunity arise), as well as serving where I can with various ministries at my home church. I’m still helping with our youth group, with our young adults, and with leading our evangelism team.

Since we last talked, we’ve been able to have another person take over my position training the youth to lead worship. The hope is to have a disciple-making impact on the kiddos where we not only teach them what it means to worship the Lord, but train them up so they can lead worship without one of us leaders aiding them. They’re getting closer and closer. I’m helping still, but slowly trying to transition out. It’s a ministry that takes a lot of time, but it’s well worth it seeking to train up the next generation of worship leaders in our church. Please pray for continued wisdom on how to do this in the most effective way as well as for the Lord to really work in the hearts of the kids to take it seriously.

Elsewhere in youth ministry I’ve had the opportunity to be meeting with a student one on one and we are currently going through the book of Hebrews. My whole aim is to get him to a place where, once we finish Hebrews, he will be able to know how to effectively and properly study the Word of God for both the enrichment of his own faith, but to train and disciple others as well. Prayers for this young man to continue to grow in his faith would be much appreciated, and for me to lead and teach him effectively as well. With that said I would very much like to do this on a larger scale with our youth as well as our young adults. Please pray that the Lord would help me to take every opportunity to disciple the young men God has placed in my life—and to be the example Jesus would have me be. That I would be able to say with confidence, “follow me as I follow Christ,” (1 Cor. 11:1).

What’s Next?

Earlier in June we finished up our missions trip to Mexico (I will send a short update soon as to what that trip looked like)! It was a really blessed time to get to serve alongside some Calvary church plants in the area and do some outreach!

The next trip on the docket is an opportunity to go to Nepal on a short-term trip in October. Please pray that if the Lord wills He would open the door for me to go as I will certainly need to raise support to go on that trip.

Please pray for me that the Lord would give me wisdom on where He would have me go for long-term missions or even if He has for me to play a different role in discipleship, pastoring, and church planting. The Lord is continuing to stir my heart for the lost, for the unreached, and to go and pastor through church planting and missions, and want to be apart of that no matter where He sends me. I know He has given me a heart is to train up pastors and send them out to church plant on their own. The Lord has given me a great opportunity to intern (outside of work) under our missions pastor who is a SGWM missionary. The Lord has been continuing to give me opportunities to teach at our young adults and youth group alongside different worship leading opportunities as well.

How Can You Help?

Would you please partner with me in prayer? I cannot do any of what I do without the empowerment that comes by His Spirit. Please pray that He would give me wisdom on how to best use my time and to prepare for what He has to come. That I would be faithful in the little that I might be able to handle whatever He has in store. If you feel so led, a link will be coming in my Mexico update for giving toward the upcoming Nepal trip. Thank you so much for your prayer and support!

He Is Faithful

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

-2 Corinthians 5:20-21 (NKJV)

The Lord continues to show His faithfulness in my life time and time again! Thank you so much for all of your prayers regarding our Mexico missions trip, it was an absolute blessing. It is amazing to get to be a part of what God is doing when we allow ourselves to be used by Him.

Mexico Missions Trip

About a month and a half ago we left for Rosarito where we helped come alongside multiple church plants to do outreach and make Jesus known. There were different work projects, opportunities to love on orphans, and door to door evangelism. The common theme is that the Lord showed His goodness!

Some of my favorite moments were coming alongside CC Homex where we got to go do an outreach in a local dump. We had an awesome opportunity to give out food and love on and talk with many of those who live and work there. Pastor Eddie and many others go out weekly to witness and minister to those living there; so we got to come alongside them this time. There were a few of us who were talking with an older man named Pasqual. Through a translator (along with her own conversing) we were able to talk with him and share Jesus! There came a point where I asked him if he wanted to give his life to Jesus and he said yes! Little did we know (as we found out later that week) that for the last two years many had tried to reach him. Time and time again they would ask if he was ready to give his life to the Lord, and become a disciple, and he would say no. That day he said yes. He already knew pastor Eddie so there was a connection where he could be followed up with. After we returned home we were sent a picture of pastor Eddie bringing him to church, and he had a big ol’ smile on his face. Thank you for praying that God would have His way. I’m so thankful for an opportunity to be able to make Him known!

I know it’s blurry, but this is Pasqual, in the red with the hat, going to church with Pastor Eddie…
This is from our outreach in Homex where we did games with the kiddos and were able to share the Gospel!

What’s Next?

As of right now there are at least a couple more missions opportunities on the horizon. We do not have the dates yet, but the first one would be to Maui to help with some work projects there and hopefully with some outreach and evangelism too. As far as the long-term my heart is absolutely to do church planting and missions, but in this more immediate season I am hoping to attend seminary for a Master’s degree. My hope is to begin with a class this semester through Dallas Theological Seminary. In that, my hope is to continue working at the cabinet shop while serving at my home church!

How To Get Involved:

My greatest need is prayer, so would you please be praying? Apart from His strength, apart from the empowering of His Holy Spirit, I can do nothing. Please pray that Jesus would have His way in me and that I would be conformed to His image. That His will would be done in my life.

Some other things that I would love prayer for:

-The Lord to give me His heart

-My time in seminary to produce a more Christ loving, Christ exalting heart (not academic pharisaism)

-Provision (financially as well as in opportunity through open and shut doors)

-Me to be proactive in walking in my gifts and callings (and growing in them) while awaiting being sent out.

Thank you all so much, love in Christ,

-Jordon

Drink Deeply and Look to Him

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

-Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV)

The Lord is faithful! This season the Lord has been reminding me of His faithfulness. No matter where I find myself, no matter how burdened, weary, happy, or content I might feel, He is faithful. The work that He has called us to as His people is one He wishes to bring to completion. He just asks for our willingness and surrender. Will we take Him at His Word?

What’s Happening?

Thank you for your prayers and support! Thank you for reading these updates; it means a lot! The greatest need in any ministry is prayer, and God answers! Evangelism has been going well. I lead the evangelism team every Saturday afternoon to share the Gospel in our community. This past week during our outing, a brother and I got to talk with a young man who, in the midst of uninterested peers, felt conviction and was dealing with true searching for a life of purpose and meaning in the midst of this worlds temptations. Pray for Alan, that the Lord would work in his heart and mind, that he would make the greatest decision that will carry the most importance of any in his life—that he would surrender to Jesus and be saved! Youth group is growing and doing well as is our young adults ministry. The Lord has been giving continued opportunities for teaching and discipleship which has been a blessing.

How To Get Involved

In June I will be heading down to Mexico on a young adults missions trip that I have the opportunity to serve with. We will be coming alongside a local church body to aid in outreach and some work projects as well. Please pray that:

-The Lord would go before us and prepare the hearts of those to whom we’ll speak.

-The Lord would fill us with His Spirit to go and share the Gospel.

-There would be team unity.

-There would be provision financially for care packages for families as well as for team members to go.

-We would remain healthy leading up to and through the trip.

-We would have discernment and wisdom from the Lord in conversations and circumstances.

-We would have grace crossing the border. That the enemy would be stopped from hindering or distracting.

-The Lord would reveal and help us to walk in our gifts and callings.

-The Lord would stir in the hearts of us and others for missions, church planting, and reaching the lost.

Things regarding weekly ministry that I could use prayer for:

-Weekly discipling of the kids on the youth worship team and teaching them in music and what it means to worship, along with some upcoming workshops to train them in that as well.

-Weekly evangelism, that the Lord would give us discernment, wisdom, the words to speak, and the willing hearts of people to come out with us for and during that time as well.

-Working and interning, that I would balance my schedule and time properly and be faithful in what the Lord has given to me.

-Strength and energy to walk in those things.

-Growth where I need it, and that I would cling to and seek the Lord above all else.

-I have started applying to seminaries, and am waiting to hear back from the one I would like to attend. Please pray for strength, provision, and perseverance as I continue on in my education for His glory!

For those of you who might feel called to partner with us financially during our time in Mexico here is a giving link. Some people are in need of financial help to attend. There are also expenses for the outreaches to provide care packages for those in need. Thank you for your prayer and support!

I love and thank you all,

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

Oh Lord, You Know

Time has absolutely flown by and the Lord has been doing a lot in this season. I am grateful for your prayers and keeping up with my updates. I have been continuing to work 32-40 hours a week as well as serving as an intern with my church wherever I am able as well.

Exciting Things!

The opportunities here in Northern California have been a blessing and it’s really exciting to see what God is doing in our church. Specifically with the youth group and young adults. It’s wonderful to see how God is stirring hearts toward Himself. I’ve had the opportunity to be more proactive with evangelism and have helped launch a group that goes out every weekend to share the Gospel and do some one on one evangelism. When we go out, we talk with people about what they believe and why so we can find common ground to point them to Jesus.

“Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.”

-Acts 17:16–17 (NKJV)

There have also been opportunities to get more involved with the youth doing outreach as well. We had the opportunity to help with an outreach to the homeless where we had quite the group! It was a great time to go out and pass out care packages and share the Gospel with people and give the kids an opportunity to grow and learn in that too.

Every week we go out there is usually a young man named Connor and we keep sharing with him, but he claims atheism. Please be praying for him that the Lord would convict his heart and that he would receive the Gospel!

I’ve also been blessed to be able to help lead worship with the youth group and have begun helping with the new believer’s class here at the church. There are a lot of opportunities for discipleship. Please pray that I would take the ones He places in front of me.

How To Get Involved

As of yet I still do not know exactly where the Lord is leading me next. Sometimes this can leave me feeling restless, but this is clearly a season of preparation for whatever He has in store. Your prayers in this are greatly appreciated. It can take around 2 years and equipping just to get on the field after the Lord does show where. Please pray that He would help me to walk in obedience and faithfulness in all that He has put in my care, to trust, wait, and that He would continue to grow me into the man He has called me to be; to lead in a way that exemplifies my Savior.

This past year plus has been pretty difficult for most people. I think it’s been very stretching for me as well, but I also know that I wouldn’t trade it because the Lord has used it to mold and shape me in ways that I never could have been otherwise. Keep pressing in, and don’t stop pressing on. He’s with you, He loves you: “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” -Hebrews 13:5-6 (NKJV)

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” -Romans 8:18 (NKJV)

He is risen!

On The Move

Heading home up Highway 1…

I am pleased to share with you that I completed the Calvary School of Missions on August 17th. Later that week I took a trip up to Northern California to visit my family and get my vehicle. That next Sunday, I drove back down to Southern California where I started back up at work and serving at church. Initially, I had thought I would be living in Murrieta for a time and continuing to serve at Calvary Murrieta. All while seeking to pursue readiness to church plant and do missions. However, fairly quickly, it seemed clear the Lord had something different for me to do.

Closing Doors Leading to Open Ones

Getting to share about the school of missions with our young adults group…

During my time visiting family in the Bay area, I began to feel the Lord stirring and tugging on my heart to come back to the North Bay area. Not until September did I begin to feel more convinced that this was the move I needed to make. Fairly recently, a missionary family had moved off the field due to Covid and the Lord opened the door for them to come and be a part of my family at Calvary Chapel the Rock. In that, the Lord has opened the door for me to come back to Sonoma County and begin preparing to be sent to do  missions and church planting. Not only has that door opened for preparation for missions, but also to serve and be there for my family. God is good and I’m thankful for His gracious leading.

Saying see you later to some great friends (so many more not pictured)…

Time To Dig In

A few weeks ago, I made the move back up to Sonoma County. Seeing the Lord’s provision for my time down in Southern California and to return home has been amazing. To everyone down in Southern California, you’ve all become family to me and you will be dearly missed! Thank you for all of your prayers and support. I look forward to visiting you all soon! As for now, I’ve been working around building projects, being part of a small leadership group learning about Theology and Discipleship, and looking for work. It’s been good to be back and to be a part of what the Lord is doing. I know this is a time to be faithful in the little things so that I might be proved faithful in what’s to come (Luke 16:10). This season is one of preparation and there are times where it’s going to be difficult, but I look forward to what the Lord is going to do.

Getting settled back in with the Rock crew…

How To Get Involved

Would you please pray? As you’ve been praying and partnering with me in that way; I hope you know that the Lord has been answering. Would you please continue to pray for direction on where the Lord will be sending me. Also, pray that He would truly burden my heart for the place that He desires to send me. Please pray that I would be faithful in this season to study well and to truly prepare for what the Lord has to come. I am also asking the Lord for work during this season that could even be a skill that I would can use in missions.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” -Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV)

Please stay in touch! I’d love to hear from you guys and what God is doing! How can I pray for you?

I love you all.

Blessings,

-Jordon

Ready. Set. Go.

Hey you guys,

I made it back to the States on Aug. 17th. Sometimes it’s sad how quickly time flies, but I’m thankful for all that the Lord has been doing. My life would not have been the same if I had not answered the Lord’s call to CSOM this summer. He’s directed and spoken to me in ways that wouldn’t have happened if I had stayed home. Thank you for all of your prayers and support in this season!

Re-Cap

One of the key theme’s of our last week was faithfulness and the importance of showing up as a Christian and in ministry. I certainly need the Lord’s help to grow in my follow through. I want my yes to be yes and my no to be no (Matt. 5:37). We began our last week of classes by hearing from a church planter down in Southern Mexico. He lives in a very dangerous area, but despite that, God is adding people to His Church. In that, we got to hear more of the realities that await those who church plant; the struggles, the times of loneliness, but the assurance of knowing and following God’s call allows us to walk in those seasons. Getting to hear his story of God’s faithfulness in the face of great darkness was needed. We might not know what’s next, but He calls us to pray! As our final class came we were able to re-cap what the Lord has been showing us through our six weeks in Baja California. Man, what a full six weeks it was. I’m so thankful for the relationships the Lord allowed me to build and grow during this time, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what God wants to do in this season with all of us!

Outreach

Getting ready for the Covid food relief at the end of our outreach…

During our final week we only had one outreach, but it was a sweet one. We were able to go to an area near Tijuana where we got to have a time of worship and teaching for the adults and the Lord helped me to teach the kids about Jonah. It was so much fun to get to play games and color with them. They really enjoyed red light, green light; our translator Jessica did a fantastic job! To finish everything out we gave out food relief to help families in need during this pandemic. The Lord used it, thank you for praying!

Abiding

As we went into our debrief weekend, we went through John 13-17 seeing God’s heart and commission for us—His people. I know that no matter what comes I am called to abide in Jesus. As that happens He will take me right where He wants me. The encouragement and growth that the Lord brings is a beautiful thing and I am so looking forward to what He has in store. He has to be the priority; I can’t do any of it without Him.

How To Get Involved

Since I’ve been back the Lord has really been providing for me financially, and definitely guiding me in what’s next. Thank you for praying. The Lord hears prayer, He is gracious, and He pours out His love upon us in so many ways. He has been working things out with my car and finances so thank you very much for praying for those needs! He knows our need and He answers. Would you please continue to pray:

  • That the Lord would make me faithful in all I do.
  • That the Lord would provide me with a job as I pursue an internship.
  • That the Lord would grow me in my gifts and callings.
    • That I would be faithful to walk them out.
  • For direction on when to move.
  • That I would grow in my knowledge of the Word and living it out.
  • That I would promote growth and unity in the Church wherever I go.
  • For safe travels.
  • That I would be a good caretaker of all that the Lord has put in my hands.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

-John 15:1-5 (NKJV)

Blessings,

-Jordon

Humility In Discipleship

God is good,

We’ve really gotten into a good groove here. I think one of the greatest issues is becoming complacent while in ministry. Learning how to better foster my relationship and walk with the Lord has been a huge blessing. Your prayers have been at work the whole time we’ve been in Mexico—thank you! You’ve been praying for unity, and the Lord has helped us to walk in unity. You’ve been praying for boldness in sharing the Gospel, and the Lord has been giving it. He’s been giving wisdom and discernment. He has been keeping us in good health, and He is guiding; thank you.

Back To The Basics

This past week the Lord has been making me more aware of pride in my heart and my great need to walk in humility with Him. I am to truly identify with Jesus, and as His follower, I need to humble myself before Him and bring my purpose and reason for being in alignment with His. I am to bring Him glory (John 15:8). Both of our books this week, Humility by Andrew Murray and The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer, spoke on our need to die to self, cling to Jesus, and pursue Him! It’s been a blessing to see how God speaks at just the right moment to draw us closer to Him and to move us from grace to grace in our walks with Him.

Church Planting and Cambodia

This week we got to hear from an experienced church planter who is working in Cambodia right now. He shared about some of the challenges that church planters face. When dealing with cultural norms, some will be different from what I am used to, but that doesn’t mean that they’re wrong. Others, however, need to be corrected through the Word and discipleship. This was a sweet time, as I’m praying about whether the Lord would have me go to an Asian country to church plant.

Ending our Class session praying with our guest speaker…

Conference in Baja

This week’s teaching was appropriately tied in with church planting, as we got to attend the CC Rosarito Church Planting Conference here in Mexico. There were some huge themes of perseverance in the face of opposition and discouragement. To remember that we are called to faithfulness. It was a great reminder when one of the speakers shared that church planting is the building block laid upon evangelism and discipleship. Those two things are the direct outpouring of the believer as they walk with the Lord, and it leads to believers walking in what it looks like to be the Church.

Highlights

I think some of my favorite moments this week were hanging with kiddos. While serving during one of the afternoon sessions of the conference, I got to help watch the kids while parents were attending the conference. It was really fun getting to hang out with a bunch of the kids; one of whom (his name was Orlando) was part of a family that CC Rosarito was sending out to start a church in Guatemala. As we were leaving he wanted to know if I was going to be there the next day to play basketball, and I was just stoked to be able to serve and build relationships; even just briefly. It’s such a blessing to get to see what God is doing, and how He is growing His church. Another moment that stood out to me was during one of our outreaches at CC Primo Tapia where one of our translators, Jessica, and I got to help a man named Eduardo carry his food back to his home. We got to talk with him about the Lord. From our conversation it sounded like he was a believer, so we encouraged him to attend the church. Things have been pretty difficult for him, especially with this pandemic, and it was a blessing to be able to encourage him.

Getting to help Eduardo carry some groceries home…

As followers of Jesus, we have a sweet opportunity to make disciples wherever we are. Regarding discipleship, we students were challenged to pray for the Lord to bring people into our lives to disciple; to point them to Jesus and teach them to follow Him. Would you be up for praying how the Lord might want to use you to help raise up someone in their faith and walk with Jesus? The reality is that we can’t, but with a willing, surrendered heart, God can use us to accomplish things we never thought could happen.

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” -2 Corinthians 5:20-21 (NKJV)

Our time here is coming to a close, we’ve got one week left to go, but there is still more to learn and more people to share Jesus with. I feel the Lord has been continuing to stir my heart for church planting, and I absolutely want to be obedient wherever He is leading. As for what is next, I definitely need the Lord’s wisdom. There are some opportunities for internships that can help prepare and grow me for being able to go out when He says to go. In that, I also wanted to share some of my financial needs. I was in an accident on June 13th and need new transportation. I’m looking at buying a car that’s in good shape from my family for ~$2,680 which would include ~$180 for registration and smog. Thankfully they are allowing me to make payments so that will be a huge help. There is also need for part of my rent ($350 total) for where I’m moving in to. If anyone would feel so led to give, the link is below. Most of all, would you please continue to pray; He knows exactly what He has:

  • That the Lord would continue to reveal where He would have me go.
  • That I would trust more deeply.
  • For where I should fulfill a potential internship, as there are a few different opportunities.
  • That the Lord would continue to give me opportunity to grow in the gifts and calling He has given.
  • For continued team unity.
  • For provision:
    • That my tax return would come in soon to help pay my bills
    • Finances for car.
    • Finances for rent (month of September).
  • To put into practice these things that the Lord has been teaching since early June.
  • For continued health, protection, and safety for myself and the rest of the team.
  • Please pray that everything learned and gained during this time would be kept and put into practice as I get back to the States.

Dios te bendiga, love you guys,

-Jordon

None of These Things Move Me

Time is flying!

We have had a lot of great opportunities to continue to grow and serve here in Mexico. Thank you so much for being part of what God is doing. He’s using your prayers and support in so many ways. The unity between our team has been so great. I look forward to how these relationships will grow over the next two weeks. To be around like-minded people who love Jesus and want to make Him known is such a blessing.

Becoming A Student of Culture

Last week I was reminded of the spiritual war we find ourselves in as Christians. This world is filled with darkness and we have the antidote. We have Jesus and we have the amazing opportunity to tell people about Him. There are a lot of ways that the Lord has been breaking my heart for the lost. Did you know that there are about 17,000 unique people groups on this earth, and 7,000 of them have not been reached with the Gospel? That means that they don’t even have access to it. To put this into perspective, there are 1,000 churches for every 1 unreached people group. If more churches made it their goal to reach the unreached, then we could reach them in this lifetime! In regards to reaching them, I was also able to see how big of a barrier culture can be. With the Lord’s help, and a lot of patience we can reach communities all around the world for Jesus. People are headed toward a Christ-less eternity, and we have the answer. I believe the Lord has been stirring up my heart greatly for the unreached, and wherever He leads I will gladly go.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!’” -Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV)

Christ Is Gain

COVID Food relief in Rancho Cuarante

At both of our outreaches this week we were able to bring the Gospel, and food relief for around 60 families. We had games and lessons for the kiddos, and shared testimonies as well as the Gospel with the adults. It was a really sweet time to build relationships with some of the people in these communities. At our first outreach there was a little boy named Josué that I got to connect with while playing football (soccer). It was really great to see the smiles on the kids faces as they played and had a good time with our team. At our second outreach on the Kumuyey tribe’s reservation, we got to meet a little boy named Abraham. He had been stung by a bee, and we were able to talk, help, pray with him, and one of our leaders, Bryan, was able to share with him about where his name comes from in the Bible. Please be praying for the Kumuyey as the pastor who served them died about a week ago. Right now there is a young man named Angel there in his place; please be praying for him, and also for someone to come out full-time and love and serve the group of believers there.

How To Get Involved

When we go on outreach we are going to give people Jesus, but our hope, flowing out of that, is to meet physical needs as well. If you would like to be a blessing as we continue, then please indicate that under the note section when giving. If you would like to partner with me in seeking to bring Jesus to those who do not know Him, and feel led to give, you can do that through the giving link as well. Again, the greatest need is prayer. Would you please pray:

  • For continued unity
  • For boldness to proclaim the Gospel and meet people where they are at
  • For a burden to reach those who do not know Him
  • For us to be Jesus’ hands and feet while we are here
  • For wisdom and discernment as we go out
  • For continued provision
  • For the Lord to continue to make callings clear
  • For health, safety, and protection as we finish out our time here

With all of this said, I’d love to hear how you guys are doing and how I can be praying for you!

“And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” -Acts 20:22-24 (NKJV)

Blessings,

-Jordon

Pressing On

Man, 3 weeks!

Can I just say what a blessing it is that you’ve taken the time to come and see what God is doing in my life. I can’t tell you how much it means to me. Jesus has been showing me so much, and I can’t wait to see what’s next—thank you for being His hands and feet in my life. It honestly just kinda blows my mind that the Lord wants to use me to bring honor and glory to His name. Wow, thank You Jesus!

Hungarian Schooling

Our class sessions have been amazing. We were able to have Phil Metzger as one of our teachers this past week. The reason this was so special is because he and his wife were missionaries for 20 years in Eastern Europe. They have firsthand experience with taking the Gospel to the nations. Hearing those experiences is an absolute treasure for someone seeking to do the same. I think one of the things the Lord was really revealing to me was that I’m not called to make disciples of my culture. As an ambassador of Jesus, I am called to meet other people where they are at, and to be Jesus’ hands and feet in their lives. When I understand their culture better I can know how to properly bring the Gospel. If I don’t, I may hurt my opportunity to make the Gospel known there. Friday’s class played a huge role in all of this as well because Pastors Joel and Mike from SGWM spoke on true worship. The Lord used this to remind me that my purpose and motivation for all that I do is to be done out of love for Jesus—to worship Him! You guys, we get to worship the one true living God!

No Time to Be Picky

The outreaches I helped with this week were a little different than most we’ve had so far. Ultimately, plans in ministry are subject to change. Chuck Smith used to say something along the lines of, “blessed are the flexible for they will not be broken.” We got to experience this firsthand with our outreach on Saturday. Even though things looked different than we thought, the Lord had a sweet plan where He gave us the opportunity to do some physical labor to help out. In that, we were able to get to spend time with and enjoy our brothers and sisters there. Originally, we had planned to go and serve through teaching and kids ministry, but that wasn’t the need. We got to get our hands dirty instead.

Splitting rock with the crew…

Running a church is hard work (not that I know from firsthand experience). When a ministry or new work is being started with a set amount of people it’s a huge blessing to have an infusion of 10 plus workers into your crew for a day. It was a blessing to be able to go and serve and love on these sweet people. Being able to share, between both of our groups how God has changed our lives. I’m thankful that the Lord used us to refresh His people. One of my favorite moments was being able to sit around with everyone and listen to Pilar, the wife of the associate pastor at that local Calvary, share her testimony. It’s an amazing thing when someone sits down with you, a group nonetheless, and shares all that God has done for them.

Putting those landscaping techniques to use…

So many things can distract us and act as obstacles in our path. Maybe things don’t go as we’d planned, but God is so good, and we get the opportunity to go and be His hands and feet wherever He takes us. Wherever you’re at, be encouraged. Remember that the Lord is with you, He loves you, and that you, like us, have an opportunity to not only make Jesus known, but to encourage the believers around you by serving and loving them like Jesus.

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” -Galatians 6:9-10 (NKJV)

How To Get Involved

God has been doing a lot, and maybe you’ve been wondering, Jordon, why are you doing this school of missions? Well, I feel the Lord has laid on my heart to go and do missions. To take the Gospel to the nations (Matt. 28:18-20), and to do so wherever He leads. All I know right now is that this is a time of preparation, and as the Lord reveals what the next step is I want to be ready to respond in obedience to what He’s calling me to do. The Lord is growing my heart more and more for church planting, and flowing out of a church plant a school of ministry where locals in an area can come and be trained up in the Word of God. Then they would be able to be sent out to areas where they can far more effectively reach their people than I ever could. That heart is something that the Lord began to grow in me starting with my first semester of school at CCBC in 2014. If you feel led to give, there will be needs as time continues to go on. Needs for plane tickets, housing, and things like that. For going on scouting trips and then, of course, the actual going. If the Lord is stirring in your heart to be a part of what He’s doing and what He will do then there’s a link below to give. As we continue to do food relief and outreaches there will continue to be opportunity to bless those communities we visit with food and other things that they might need. If you have a heart to add to the blessings in these outreaches, then you are more than welcome to do that as well. With that in mind, our greatest need is prayer, so if you would please continue to pray:

  • For continued wisdom and discernment as we go out
  • For boldness to share the Gospel
  • For me (and all of us) to be completely yielded to the Spirit in all I (we) do
  • For provision for everything that is needed upon going back home
  • For me to serve and place the needs of others above myself
  • For health, safety, and protection for the team and I
  • For continued leading and direction for where the Lord is leading me
  • That we would continue to come alongside and support the church plants we are helping and be a blessing to them
  • That we would all walk in unity
  • That above all, the Lord’s will would be done

“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV)

With love, in Christ,

-Jordon
