Time can move so quickly! I am so thankful that the Spirit of God does an amazing work within His people and that we are ever being changed and moulded into the likeness of our Savior. Day by day He is making us new, and I look forward to seeing what He has in store for tomorrow! No matter where you find yourself today, especially as we move toward eternity, make Christ your aim! Run after Him with the strength He will provide! Time is short, let’s be about His business!

Peru (Part 2)

From power outages, to worship nights, to church planting, my time in Peru was a whirlwind! CBI Kauai was also there with us. Between all of us, we had a lot to do, and the Lord gave us the wisdom and ability to get it all done; and with time to spare. A few of the guys and I from the Saving Grace team were working on getting the new church banner up for Calvary Trujillo. We had a lot of help from Calvary Trujillo students as well as Kauai. This thing was huge! Almost 10 feet high by 50 feet long! After that I helped with the new coffee shop that was set up in the patio area (right under the overhang we helped install this past May). I even got to do some cabinet-work. The Lord knew what we needed and He helped us to get it all done! 

Each morning a pastor would share a morning devotional with us to start the day. These devos were a great preparation for what came with the conference. One of the devos that stuck out to me the most was on Acts 20:24 where Paul writes, “but none of these things move me…” He knew he was headed to Jerusalem to be bound and he continued anyway. What moves me? This has been a constant reflection since I heard it, and the Lord has been working away on me that I might be able to say as well, “but none of these things move me.” Please pray that I would be so rooted in Jesus.

Getting to serve there alongside the students, staff, and the other short term teams was a huge blessing. Seeing their hard work, tenacity, and joy in the face of many obstacles and trials was an incredible thing. Be encouraged church, there are a lot of young people that want to see this world effected for the Lord. He’s doing an incredible work, and the growth that is taking place is a beautiful thing to see.

What’s next?

I am excited to say that this January, Lord willing, I will be heading to Peru to serve alongside Calvary Trujillo and CBI Peru. I have an incredible opportunity to serve and learn the ropes of helping run a Bible College. An opportunity to disciple and help raise up the next generation of church planters, pastors, missionaries, and to see them sent out wherever the Lord calls them. I am excited to see all that the Lord has in store, and to be able to grow in the call He’s placed on my life. Jesus is coming soon! Let’s be busy and about His business! This whole world needs to hear and I won’t be satisfied, I won’t stop, until I’ve walked in all that He has for me this side of eternity! It’s not just me going, but the Lord has stirred in the heart of a good friend to come as well. Please pray that we would stand firm and be faithful in all that He has set before us.

This season, in many ways, has been surreal and bittersweet as I will miss my family (biological and spiritually speaking) a whole lot. This life is a vapor and where Jesus leads I must follow! A couple of Fridays ago I was teaching on Mark 13 to my Middle Schoolers, just asking them if they were really ready for Jesus to come back. Many said no, and the Lord got them thinking about it in ways they hadn’t before or in a while. A big question for me lately is, “am I ready for Jesus to come back?” My oh my has He been doing a work in my heart with that one. It’s been a very busy season of life, but I feel like it’s been a fairly productive one too. Its been amazing to see the Lords provision and strength as Ive been dealing with work, ministry, and some big transitions as I prepare to go to Peru. Many things have been weighing on my heart regarding  family and other practical needs that need tending before I would leave for Peru. Many of those big things are being provided for as we speak, and I am looking forward to all that the Lord is going to do.

PERU

The Lord has certainly provided for this go around to Peru, your prayers and financial support are such a blessing! As I am currently in country and have been up to a lot the last two days, this update will be a segway into a special second edition coming soon to an email near you. Already I see the Lord doing much to prepare my heart and mind for the challenges that may come and I am beyond grateful for how the Lord has been giving me the grace to deal with it well. On Saturday morning it became clear there would be a couple snags as I headed down to join the team en route to Peru. An early delay brought about a flight carrier and connection change so I ended up meeting the team in Lima rather than at LAX. I honestly had a fair amount of time to spare and even with delays and some other curve balls the Lord caused me to meet up with the team from Saving Grace almost right after they checked their bags. Prior to that I got to meet an elderly gentleman by the name of Jeff. We had a great conversation, but outside of me sharing what I was up to, I didn’t get to talk with him more about the Gospel. He’s an American ex-pat who lives in Thailand with his wife and adopted daughter and couldn’t speak more highly of the Thai people. With that he expressed that he felt he aligned most with Buddhist ideals and beliefs, and kindly emphasized he was not a Christian. As I was trying to find a pause to share and at least give a few Gospel thoughts to hopefully spark some eternal thinking about what would happen when he died, and point him to a loving Savior, there was a call to prep for boarding. Any chance I had may have disappeared as I didn’t see him again long enough to share. Please pray that the Lord world bring more Christians to share the Gospel with him and that he would have a heart to hear the Lord’s call!

After meeting up with the team in Lima around 10pm California time, we boarded our flight 2 hrs later and got into Trujillo around 5:30am Peru (Texas) time. So far it’s been a sweet but busy couple days. Many familiar faces and lots of new ones as we’ve also been joined by CBI Kauai.  Please be praying for our teams and the outreach that will be happening in the midst of the big church planting conference coming later this week! There’s a lot to do, but with the Lord and many of his hands I know He will see us through. He is up to something good, and Im excited! With that I think its time for me to go to bed! Hey fam,

I pray that this update finds you well, and that your lives are being more and more measured in the peace that only He can provide. For many of us this season has been turbulent and uncomfortable—to say the least. I pray this passage would be an encouragement to you in that season. My mind goes to a quote by C.H. Spurgeon, it goes something like this, “I have learned to kiss the wave that slams me into the Rock of Ages.” For me, this is a reminder to trust in His sovereignty in this season, and to recognize where He is drawing me closer to Him in the midst of my pain and sufferings. 1 Peter 4:19 says, “Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), His lovingkindness never fails, and we serve such an amazing God. He is trustworthy and worthy of my praise—even in the midst of my greatest trials and struggles. I pray that you would cast your every care on Him knowing that He cares for you, and that His love for you is beyond measure—it was displayed at Calvary, and His work for you upon that cross has brought a security of an everlasting kind. Peace He leaves with you…

Middle School:

As far as this last month has left me, there are a few things to report and update you about! Middle School has been going well. We have a solid core group of kids that are pretty amazing. I’m blessed by them constantly, and they’re pretty good about making me laugh too. This last month we had a lot go on, we had our Middle School Summer Camp where I took three of our middle school boys down to SoCal for a joint Calvary Summer Camp and it was a blast! The theme was “Living Water” out of John 8:37-38, and God was doing an amazing work in the hearts of the students and leaders who attended. Hearts were being set free and callings were made known—praise the Lord! Please pray for my boys that they would draw ever closer to Jesus and His heart for them, and that the truths they learned that week would only deepen and not fade. Lord willing, there will be an opportunity to do more camps like that in the future!

The week after camp we took our students for a joint trip to Hurricane Harbor (a six flags water park) and we had a blast! It was a great way to spend a hot day! Back at home we just said farewell to one of our leaders who is going off to college. We’re excited for her, but also bummed to not have her while she’s at school. Other than that we’ve had an addition to our leader team and are still plugging away through the Gospel of John.

Prayer for MS:

Please pray for the Middle School group! 

-That the Lord would help me to delegate well to my leaders, and that we would pour into those kids with our utmost as we receive from the Lord. 

-That those kids would begin to seek the Lord for His calling on their lives (even at their age)! 

-That they would fall madly in love with Jesus, and that He would empower us by His Spirit to minister effectively and unapologetically according to His heart and Word.

What’s next?

Fantastic news: my tickets are purchased and I am all set to go to Peru for the South American church planting and missions conference! I am going down with an SGWM team to help work and prepare for the conference!

Prayer for Peru:

-Please pray for me, that my heart would be ready to receive from the Lord whatever He’s wanting to speak to me during that trip.

-That He would continue to hone and provide vision for what’s to come.

-That He would use me and the team to be a blessing and encouragement to the school and those at the conference while we’re there!

-That He would give clarity on timing for when I am to go (still hoping for January).

One thing I feel the Lord has been impressing upon my heart more and more lately is to be faithful. My hope is that I have been, but there are always things to grow in, and I pray the Lord helps me to be a faithful witness of His until He returns or calls me home. Be faithful in the little thing—you’ll reap a harvest (Gal. 6:9), don’t despise the day of small beginnings (Zech. 4:10). If we are faithful in little, then we will be faithful in much (Luke 16:10). Lord, make us faithful in all things, and all for Your glory!

Summer With the Middle School

So far we’ve already been able to do two of our events; mini golf and laser tag and arcade at Epicenter! The kids are having a great time, and during our weekly study we’re going through John. This week we’re in John 7, and I’m excited to see what the Lord is going to do. Later this month we have our Summer Middle School Camp and so far it’s looking like we’re going to have around 5 students coming. It’s a joint Calvary camp and the theme is going to be Living Water! Please be praying that the students would taste and see that He’s good and that they would come to Him as their Savior

What’s Next

The last couple of updates I’ve been mentioning that there is an exciting opportunity ahead and I appreciate your prayers! It’s clear now that the Lord had other plans in my going to Peru. As I got to serve in Trujillo, the Lord began to stir in my heart towards joining the Bible college there to serve and learn how to help run and even plant a Bible college in the future. The Lord is doing a great work in South America and I have an exciting opportunity to be a part of it. Training up the next generation of pastors, church planters, and missionaries has been on my heart, since shortly after I began my first year of Bible college, and I am excited to be able to pursue going. As of right now we are praying about and moving toward my going in the beginning of the year in 2024. There is a lot changing and moving with the Bible college in Trujillo, it’s growing, and I am really looking forward to what the Lord is going to do there. Please pray for me for wisdom—on how best to prepare and get ready to go early next year. I’m currently trying to learn Spanish as much as I can on duolingo (there’s no replacement for being immersed in a culture and it’s language). I’m also going to start working on a good working budget for my time there. The plan is to start with a 6 month trip in the hopes of being a part of the work there long-term. I know the Lord will lead and guide! Prior to going in 2024, my hope is to attend the Calvary Church Planting and Missions Conference (September 28-30; the trip is Sep. 23-Oct. 2) that’s going to be held at the Bible College in Trujillo. It’s going to be a sweet time and an amazing opportunity to get an idea and pulse on what the Lord is doing in Peru and South America as well!

Prayer and Needs

-That projects at home for the benefit of my family would be completed soon.

-Completing other tasks I said I would complete.

-My dads health and recovery (motivation and strength).

-That I would be faithful in the ministries that the Lord has placed in my care.

-The right people to help take over those ministries in the long-term.

-That transition would go smoothly and without discouragement for the Middle Schoolers

>Conference

-The Lord’s provision to attend the conference. 

—I will be getting my airfare separately and then joining a SGWM team for a week.

—airfare currently is ~$700-900, and the cost of room and board is about $240

-Favor with the team and students—that we would be a blessing as we help work the conference and minister to the students and staff’s needs there.

-Wisdom for the staff and myself moving forward on long term plans.

I hope that last month you got at least a glimpse of how great our trip to Peru was. I’m so thankful for all that the Lord has done. This summer has a lot in store, and I’m looking forward to what the Lord is going to do. My goal right now is to rest in His goodness and be faithful where He’s planted me in this season. We serve a good God who always comes through, and supplies all of our needs. What a good God who knows what we have need of before we ask it!

Summer

This summer there is a lot going on. Mainly with the middle schoolers, but between friends, family, ministry, and work it is busy indeed. For middle school we’re going to be doing a couple of events a month and we have our summer camp coming up and I’m getting excited for that! Last week we took the middle schoolers to a local mini golf course and had a great time! We’re currently going through the book of John and are going to pick up in John 7 this coming Friday. Please pray for the students, that they would draw near to Jesus, and that they would run hard after Him. 

Missions

As far as missions is concerned, I will not be going to Uganda this time around, but am hoping to go to at least one upcoming conference this Fall. Please pray for the team from the Rock going to Uganda late July—it’s going to be a sweet time for them, and I’m excited to see what the Lord is going to do with their time there. Please continue to pray for wisdom and guidance as there are some opportunities on the horizon! I’m excited to see what the Lord will do and trust that He will put me right where He wants me. In the mean-time I will be seeking to finish some things up here at home to be ready to go when the Lord says to.

Updates on Dad

While we were in Peru, my dad had to go back into the hospital because his incision became infected. Good news though, as of yesterday, his surgical wounds are healed! He’s been doing a lot of physical and occupational therapy and is working really hard. If you would please pray for his heart to be encouraged in this season and to see what the Lord has for him to do in all of this that would be much appreciated! His doctor told him he would have a 50% chance of being able to go back to work, and my dad is eager to see that happen. It’s undoubtedly a long road toward recovery, but the Lord is good, and whatever comes I know He will sustain my family in the midst of it all. Your prayers are beyond appreciated. 

Please pray for me that I would manage my time well. That I would serve faithfully in every aspect of life, that He would continue to give me the mindset and drive needed to get done what’s needed—and that the name of Jesus would be glorified in all I do!

A lot has happened this last month, and I’m grateful for all that the Lord has done! As many of you know the Lord provided for me to go to Peru! What an amazing time it was. I got to meet so many amazing people, and come to find out, see many I hadn’t in a while. During our time there we were involved with many different things. We were able to do outreach, be a part of chapels for the Bible College, meet and interact with the students, attend Calvary Trujillo, and do lots of construction. Overall the Lord provided for an amazing time and opportunity.

Peru

We arrived May 11 and got settled in. Each team member got to share a devotional (and depending on the day) teach a chapel for CBI Peru. Our work was clearly cut out for us and it was a joy to be a part of what the Lord has been doing in Trujillo, Peru. During classes, our team would work on meal prep or construction. We were able to help put in a new water tank to supply the campuses water needs. Our first night we got to have some Peruvian donuts called Picarones (they’re delicious—give them a try). One of my favorite things was getting to meet the students and serve alongside them. Our first day there, a good friend and I went with some locals from the church and passed out flyers to invite people to an outreach in the park we were having the next day—it was a blast! This was the school’s last week of classes and they made it their outreach week before graduation—it made for a busy week indeed.

Outreach

We were able to do 4 different outreaches, all of which had a skit for the kiddos, games, some prizes and crafts, and a whole lot of Jesus and the Gospel. We got to partner with 3 different churches, and got to help bring the love of Jesus to some amazing kids in different communities. One of my favorite things to see was the skit that these CBI students put on—it was really well done and set up perfectly to share the Gospel and our need for Jesus. Only one thing can overcome darkness, and that’s Jesus. So many kids attended, and some with their families, and many gave their lives to Jesus. Please pray that they continue to attend church, get in the Word, and learn about their Savior who loves and died for them!

Construction

Not only did we get to help put up the new water tank, but we also got to help get the framing started for a big outdoor pergola off of their main eating area. It was a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun, and I’m glad to have worked with the team, and with the staff and students as well. I know they have a team coming this summer that will help them with even more.

Bible College

One of the main things we got to help with was one of our pastors teaching a class to the CBI students on missions and church planting. This was a sweet time, getting to hear reminders of what I got to learn back in the School of Missions in 2020. What an exciting thing to get to hear about what the Lord is doing in the lives of these students and interns as they’re getting ready to go out and church plant themselves! It was such a blessing to be around a bunch of young people on fire for the Lord and ready to go wherever He calls them. Their graduation took place our last Thursday there, and it was a blessing to see the hard work and accomplishments of the students recognized in front of the church, students, and their family and friends. I didn’t know it until our trip got closer, but two people I knew from my time at CSOM were graduating that night, and it was such a cool thing to see. Please pray for all of the graduates as some are getting ready to go out and others are returning to intern.

Back in the Northbay

Now it’s back to Middle School and home life while prepping and praying for what’s next. Please pray for continued vision, and provision for what the Lord is doing and where He is wanting to take me. I know He has a good plan and purpose and I am excited to see what He has in store. 

A quick update on my dad, while we were in Peru he actually needed to go back into the hospital due to an infection where they had initially done surgery, but praise the Lord they did not need to operate again and he is back home. Please pray for his continued recovery and that the Lord would provide strength, healing, and rest for him. 2023 has been a wild ride, but I’m thankful for all that the Lord has done and is doing.

Life so often presents its challenges, and the Lord allows trials to come our way. He teaches, He binds up, He restores the years the locusts have eaten, and He always makes a way. The enemy would seek to use such things to shipwreck us, but we serve a God who will use all things for His glory and make beauty from the ashes. My hope and prayer for you is that you would press deeply into Jesus in whatever season of life you find yourself—whether that be a season of breaking down or of binding up. It’s so worth it and the reward He gives is greater than anything this world has to offer. Eternal life forever more—thank you Jesus! I pray this past Easter left you praising our Risen King, finding hope in the midst of hardship, and eagerly awaiting His return!

Thank you so much for your prayers, you have no idea how much it means to me. I’m so thankful that we serve a loving God who hears us, and what amazing power He has. Ministry is never just the doing, but it’s the flow of action from relationship with Jesus. That we would literally be Jesus’ hands and feet, and that others would taste His salty savor as we live out the life He’s placed before us. I could not do any of what I do without your prayers—so thank you.

Update On My Dad

As I write this I’m in a coffee shop in San Francisco, and to give you all an update, my dad just had a spinal fusion on his upper spine. I’m so grateful to say that the surgery went very well! His spine was compressing and even beginning to cause some bruising on his spinal cord so it was needed. So many of you were praying and sending love and encouragement and I’m so appreciative! The Lord hears, and what a blessing that is. There’s still a long road ahead to recovery, it was definitely a major surgery, and with that there will be some challenges. If you think to pray, as of right now, it’s looking like they will try to recommend him to an acute rehab for him to get some more physical therapy and other practical tools to help him as he transitions from the hospital to home. He was able to get up and walk around today, but he is in a fair amount of pain. Prayers for the Lord’s mercy and His grace to endure for him would be much appreciated. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome so thank you very much for your prayers!

Middle School

As for Middle School, it’s going well. We have a core group that’s been coming weekly and other kids who just come on Sunday’s, but the Lord is feeding His kids. It’s amazing to see how much they know about the Bible already! Our greatest prayer need here is just that the Lord would give wisdom and His grace to disciple these kiddos well in the knowledge of His Word and what it means to love, follow, and live for Jesus.

What’s Next?

My hope is to be going to Peru on May 10th with our team from the Rock. The plan is to be there through the 20th and we will get to do ministry with the Bible College there and help teach how to do outreach as well as do outreach ourselves. It’s going to be an awesome opportunity to get to know family in the Lord, but make Jesus known, and get some future church planters and missionaries fired up for where the Lord is leading them! In that, my ability to go may change depending on my dad’s recovery.

That is exactly what the Lord has given an opportunity for. The Rock has had two retreats in the last 3 weeks (that I’ve been a part of), and God is up to something good. It’s a privilege to play a role in helping disciple our middle schoolers and play a part in discipleship and being part of our young adults as well. The Lord is faithful, and I am thankful for the opportunities He’s given me and I want to make the most of them. This season of life has been crazy, and difficult, but rewarding. It amazes me how God can take trials and difficulties and bring about something for our good and His glory. This season has been a crucible, but He is ever purging the dross—and for that I am grateful. I am thankful for His careful watch, and the comfort of His Spirit. I pray that whatever season you find yourself in right now that you cling to Jesus, sit at His feet (Luke 10:38-42), and cast your care upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). Nothing is too big for our God, and He delights in our faith—it’s so much more precious to Him than gold that is tested by fire (1 Peter 1:6-9).

The theme of the middle school retreat was “Life in Light of Eternity.” Since I began teaching them last year, I’ve been praying that the Lord would help me to teach them what it means to be a disciple and have a proper foundation of trust in Jesus. One that He can continue to build upon as they grow. We began with a series on discipleship, then understanding the difference and importance between the Old and New Testament, and since then we’ve been making our way through the Gospel of John. These kids ask some amazing questions. They’re hungry for knowledge and truth and it amazes me how Biblically literate they are. All of that to say, our hope with this retreat was to help equip these middle schoolers to be able to live their lives looking forward to eternity, and I believe the Lord helped us to do that. We had 3 main sessions with lots of fun, food, and good hang outs mixed in. Our snow trip got canceled, but the Lord opened the door for us to stay elsewhere and keep our retreat going. Our first session a visiting pastor from another church taught on John 10 and Jesus being the Good Shepherd. Saturday night we touched base on a closeness of relationship with Jesus in Philippians 3, and Sunday I got to teach on John 15 where I shared that living for Jesus begins and continues with being with Jesus—seeking Him first and above all else. I pray that the Lord will continue to grow them in the knowledge of His Word and teach them how to do all for His glory—bearing fruit for His name. Thank you for your prayers, we couldn’t have done it without them.

Last weekend we took all the young adults up to Tahoe and man was there a lot of snow. The fellowship was a huge blessing, the sessions were blessed (teaching us to fight sin, and rest in the powerful work of Jesus that has caused us to be dead to sin, but alive in Christ). It was a needed weekend for me. It was nice to get away for a few days and allow the Lord to speak through His Word, and it was an amazing reminder of what a fresh start we have in what Jesus has done for us at the cross. I am dead to the power of sin over me, and alive to God in Christ and now a slave to righteousness. Man what a powerful reminder! The question presented that weekend was, “Will I agree with what God says about me?” Will I run the race that He’s set before me? I don’t know about you, but my answer is yes!

Getting Ready

Next on the docket is our Peru missions trip. I’m excited to go and see what the Lord will do. We are going to have an awesome opportunity to focus on outreach and help teach some Bible College students how to outreach. Many of them seem hopeful to get out, church plant, and make disciples! Lord willing we can aid them in that process!

With some smaller trips coming up, I have a great opportunity to get the middle schoolers involved with helping the teams prep for going on their trips. This coming week we are going to help prepare some care packages and letters for our high school trip to southern California where they are going to partner with a ministry that does a lot of outreach. Please pray that the Lord stirs in their heart for seeking and saving the lost and taking the Gospel to the nations. 

Another trip to come is for Uganda. I’m praying and hoping to go to Uganda with the Rock this summer! Would you please pray that the Lord’s will would be done and that He would open and shut doors for whatever His will is for me in that. I will get you details as they come.

It can always be so easy to look at what we don’t have or what we think we need and grow weary or discontented. We live in a culture where everything is always pulling for our attention and demanding a response. In a culture like that, what a blessing to know we have a God and Savior who cuts right through it all, Who’s faithfulness, grace, and love is there for the taking, will we choose it? I know that’s something I must constantly check in my heart. The Lord is so good, ready to provide our every need, and He wants to be our contentment. He wants to be the fulfillment of our need. There is nothing greater than His love, and nothing greater than knowing and loving Him.

Since Last Time

There’s a lot going on right now, lot’s of fun, and lot’s of discipleship. We’ve had multiple Bible studies going on, Home Fellowship Groups, great teachings, and fellowship on Sunday’s. There is always much to be done, and I am thankful for the opportunities the Lord has given. Middle School is going great! We’ve been having about 8-12 kids show up consistently and they’ve been growing a lot. Their Biblical literacy blows my mind, and I am so excited to see what the Lord is going to do in their hearts and minds. Recently we did a joint event with our high schoolers at a trampoline park and we had a great time jumping and doing so ropes style courses, and a great time to connect with the students too. The week after that we had our Cereal Party Movie Night and watched Prince of Egypt and got to discuss those events from Scripture as well! These kids have a great attention span and learning more and more each time we meet. This last week we picked back up into our study of John and looked at Jesus and his interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well, and how Jesus “needed” to go through Samaria (v.4); there were clearly a lot of people that needed His good news, and He started with her.

What’s Next?

Next on the docket is a trip to Peru in May! I’m approved and excited to get to serve the Lord in South America. We will get to partner with a CBI in Peru and get to do outreach and ministry for this 10 day trip. I’m excited to see all that the Lord will do in and through us during our time there. This summer we will also have a missions trip we will be doing to Uganda to partner with ministries there as well. I am excited to see what the Lord will do!

Prayer Requests:

Middle School:

-That I would be focused on making disciples of Jesus with our Middle Schoolers

-For my team and I that we would be discerning, prayerful, and filled with the Lord’s love and wisdom

-That the students would have ears to hear what the Lord is saying through His Word

-For our Middle School Winter Camp coming up in 2 weeks

-for hearts to be prepared

-for traveling mercies

-that their faith would be bolstered and that they would run after Christ

Peru:

-Preparation of the team and I’s hearts as we get ready to go to Peru

-Provision for I and the rest of the team to go (I have a remainder of $1,300 due)

-That the Lord’s will would be done, and that our hearts would be aligned to His will

Uganda:

-Provision and preparation for our upcoming trip to Uganda as well if that is the Lord’s will for me to go.

For me personally:

-My family is going through a very difficult season right now

-Recently dealing with the death of someone close to our family

-My dad’s health is not doing great at the moment:

-he needs a spinal fusion soon (within a month)

-that everything would get taken care of to be cleared in all of his pre-ops

-For my family to have the Lord’s grace, mercy, comfort, peace and strength to endure in this time

How are you doing?! I don’t know where you find yourself today, but I pray that you would be, “strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,” (Eph. 3:16). That you would know beyond a shadow of doubt His love for you, His great desire to draw you closer to Him, and to accomplish His will in your life. In 1 Peter, as he’s speaking of the great living hope we have in Jesus, he says, “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” (1 Pet. 1:6-7). Then later, in chapter 5:6-7, he states, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” The Lord loves you beyond your wildest imaginings and He displayed it through the giving and death of His Son on the cross. He is doing a work in and through you, and He will be faithful to keep you and complete that work in you (Phil. 1:6). Keep being a light for His glory!

Thank you for being a part of the body and following His leading, to support and pray in the way that you do. For those of you who didn’t know, I was fully-funded to go to Nepal! It was such a blessed time and I look forward to seeing what the Lord will continue to do in Asia with our brothers and sisters continuing the work there.

This trip was a whirlwind! We left SFO on Oct. 17, and arrived into Katmandu, Nepal early morning on the 19th. We gathered our things and went to a guest house where we stayed for the majority of our trip at Bethel Guest House. The next day we got to meet those in charge of the work there in Katmandu and a few of the other pastors who are planting churches and/or helping with the Bible College. 

We did some sight seeing that first day. We went to the monkey temple—yes there were monkeys everywhere. Then we also went to a very prominent site for those who are practicing Hindus in India and Nepal to cremate their dead. This was a very sobering place to visit considering our mission. It’s something that really puts into perspective the need to be actively sharing the Gospel and reach the unreached parts of the world. Maybe 3% of Nepal would be considered Christian and the vast majority would be Hindu and are headed towards a Christ-less eternity. There’s such a great need for Jesus and we have our work cut out for us. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. By the grace of God may we be those laborers sent into the harvest!

The next day one part of the group went to the Bible College to teach and minister to the guys and gals there, but I had a bit of a change of plans and went with a couple other Saving Grace guys to a village about 6 hours West of Katmandu. We went ahead to visit a church plant from one of our missionaries there. While we were there we were able to visit another church nearby where we were going to put on a youth conference the next day. During that youth conference there were 4 sessions and I was able to teach one of them. With that, we ate a lot of good food, played games, and got to connect with brothers and sisters from across the globe. On Sunday we joined service at the church plant and one of the visiting pastors taught. Afterward the ladies were able to put on a women’s conference and Pastor Joe and I got to hang out with kiddos and play games and sing worship songs. Seeing the joy on their faces was such a delight!

After heading back to Katmandu, we began to receive many of the pastors and students from other areas in Nepal and Asia as we were putting on a pastors’ conference. One of those pastors is an old friend from my days at Bible college and it was such a blessing to see him and hear about what the Lord is doing in his life. I was beyond blessed getting to speak with some of the pastors and asking them what advice they might give me, a young man getting ready for ministry, and I was very blessed by their counsel. After the conference we were able to watch the students from the Bible colleges across Asia graduate, and what a cool thing to witness! We were able to give gifts of commentaries, clothes, and so much more. A great many of those things they will be able to use in ministry for years to come. 

I was so blessed by their hospitality and I think my favorite part was getting to meet and see so many brothers and sisters who are living out their faith in the midst of a culture that can be hostile toward it. I will miss them, and I hope to see them again soon. Please pray for a continued open door for the Gospel, and that Jesus would be magnified throughout Asia. That they would have boldness and strength in the face of persecution! God is good and I look forward to seeing what He will do—He will make a way!

What’s next?

Well, I am going to continue to be faithful in what the Lord has called me to do. Right now He has me directing the Middle School here at the Rock and I need your prayers. I cannot do it without His strength or the power of His Spirit. I need wisdom, guidance, and His love to be present in all I do. Please pray for my team and I as we seek to raise up this next generation for His glory. Ultimately my goal is long-term missions and I am praying about where the Lord would have me be sent to. He knows what is best and I want to make the most of every season of preparation He puts me in; and this is one of them. 

In that, there are a couple of missions trips coming up with the church that I am praying about and would very much like to go on. We have one coming up in May to go to Peru for about a week. Then in July we are going to Uganda for a couple of weeks. There is so much opportunity and I know the Lord will provide and lead me right where He wants me. In that, please pray for the Lord’s provision and guidance for whether or not He would have me go on one or even both of those trips.
