Carmelle and I are engaged! I want to take this update to introduce my fiancée and share about what God has called us to in this season. In many ways, telling our story is a wonderful reflection on all that God has done through you and I these past couple years as partners in the gospel. I hope this reflection on the past and look to the future gives you praise to God for all He is doing in His Church.
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
Romans 11:36
Carmelle and I met each other in seasons of great surrender and seeking God’s desire for our lives. The Lord individually set apart both of us to be willing to take His gospel to areas of the world that need it the most. Areas without churches, christians, and for some, even bibles. During that season we both started to go on our first mission trips. One of these was a disaster relief trip to the state of Louisiana. For Carmelle, it was her first time going on a trip to serve. For me it was my second or third.
Although we knew of each other before this, Louisiana was the first time Carmelle and I had any interaction as friends. It was on this trip that I (unintentionally) learned Carmelle was single. I took a note. I also first heard Carmelle sing and lead worship, which has become a great point of commonality and fellowship in our relationship. I was interning at church and went on a mission trip to Utah, sharing the gospel with mormons (this brings us to January 2022). Back from that trip, I learned that Carmelle had started interning at the church as well. Through ministering together we became closer as friends. Fast forward a few months and Carmelle and I were leading worship together on a mission trip to Vegas!
I had started to pray before the Vegas trip about pursuing Carmelle. A few days after the trip I talked with her and from there one thing after another…and a year later we are engaged! I know many of you have been praying for Carmelle to enter into my life for a while, your prayers are greatly appreciated. We are so grateful for the love and support we have received from you as our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are thankful for the godly marriages that the Lord has blessed us with observing and gleaning from, and we are excited to partner with you together in the gospel soon as a married couple.
Carmelle and I have been able to minster together in many places and many ways as a couple over the last year. Two highlights of this was when we were able to go to Uganda and later Nepal on mission trips. We have led worship, conferences, and outreaches together. Thank you for supporting these trips!
Carmelle and I were recently sharing the gospel at Cypress College. In this new season, we have been leading outreach there together every week on Tuesday. Many of you have been praying for this time, thank you! As we were sharing I was reminded of how Carmelle complements my weaknesses. In sharing the gospel, I can easily forget to love others in practical ways. Look them in the eye. Ask how they are doing. Make a joke so we can laugh with them. Anything that can break down walls and show them that we really care for their soul. This exact thing I am weak in is the exact thing Carmelle is so gifted at doing naturally. Praise the Lord for His great design in using our weaknesses and strengths to glorify Him in sharing the gospel!
One reason we are sharing at Cypress College is because Carmelle has started studying there! In this season, God has called both of us to a season of preparation as we plan to be sent out to reach those who have no access to the Gospel. For Carmelle, God has called her to study as a nurse that she might be able to use the practical means of healing in the future ministry God would have us serve in. For me, I have started taking classes that help me better study and teach the Bible. Thank God He has lined us up to be in this season of preparation together.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them
Ephesians 2:10
On another note, I will be going with a team of 19 people to the country of Peru! By the time you read this I will most likely be in the country. We are going on November 7th to the 17th. I am so excited to go back to this place that I spent the Fall in last year: to see and support the church there. We will be visiting the churches I was at before as well as the brand new one that was just started in the jungle (Calvary Moyobamba)! We will do children’s outreach, help with church services, and get the word out about the new church.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this overdue update. I hope our story encourages you to trust in God’s providence, provision, and design. There are many details I don’t have the room to share: struggles, questions, challenges, and failures. Overall, God is working His perfect plan through imperfect vessels like you and I! Once again, we are so grateful for your continual support in the Gospel.
For His Eternal Kingdom,
Adam Fulmizi
