!Hola! Familia y Amigos, Como estas???
For those who don’t yet know, I have recently been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join Calvary School of Missions this summer in Rosarito, Mexico from July 8th-August 19th. The heart and purpose behind this six week school is to train and equip young men and women in full-time cross-cultural missions in order to send us to reach the UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUPS OF THE WORLD. The School will focus on multiple levels of hands-on ministry and Biblical training from experienced Calvary Chapel pastors and missionaries on topics such as:
- Cross-Cultural Ministry
- Cultural Immersion
- Church Planting
- God`s heart for the nations
- The current state of the unreached
- And much more!
Today has only been the fourth day since we have been here in Mexico and already I have learned so much. We have had two outreaches so far. One of the outreaches was with a feeding program for the children in the neighborhood. Our day consisted of feeding the children along with acting out a skit, sharing the gospel, worshiping together, and doing games & crafts. Today we went to the dumps where people live and work and got to bring a message from the Bible, give out food and drinks, and engage with the people. I had a great opportunity to sit with this girl named Mary, who is 14 years old. I found out that Mary is from Tijuana, she does not go to school, and she spends most of her days working long hours in the dump with her family. I was able to share a little about me and how I became a follower of Jesus, along with how the joy of the Lord is our strength not a momentary emotion! (I am thankful for my friend who was able to translate the whole conversation!)
I am so thankful to be learning under such sincere and humble leaders. The leaders really create a safe place for us to be vulnerable, and challenge us greatly in our pursuit of God and our willingness to be used by Him!
I am also thankful for the six other students who have chosen to come to this school of Missions. I’m grateful to get to know them, learn from them, grow with them and build lasting friendships!
Lastly, I am thankful for everyone reading this.
