Between The Rock and a Hard Place

Finishing an Amazing Day at Iglesia De Las Encinas

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

PSALM 18:2 NKJV

Praise God for the salvation which Christ brings during dark nights and long days! For a long time, I have been trying to pursue a relationship with Christ by doing good works. I’ve sensed His presence through the work that I have done, and seen good fruits from it, but it’s always been a push and pull relationship with God. During this last week, God laid it on my heart to really seek Him out and pray about my relationship with Him, and it put me between a Rock and a hard place. This Rock that I’m referring to is Christ, and the hard place is my works. He brought me to a place where I had to ask if I was going to rely upon Christ to be sufficient for me, or if I was going to continuously seek to be more than what Christ has already done in me and for me. This was a hard place to be because I thought that my works were giving me a better relationship with Him than He already provided, but it was only taking away from what He was going to provide regardless. Romans 4:4 says, “Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace, but as debt.” This verse speaks a lot into what He showed me this week because He was only giving to me what was due as a fruit of my works, but now He is showing me that I can work BECAUSE OF CHRIST. I’m not working to have a better relationship anymore, I just have to ABIDE IN WHO HE IS!

Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.

This last week has been filled with amazing things that God still did through me and the team, even as He was ministering to me, which was a blessing in and of itself because He showed me the truth and application of His sovereignty, omnipotence, and omnipresence through that work. The best example I can give of that concept this week is when we went to Rancho Cuarenta. Rancho Cuarenta is a small town with about 30 houses located there. We had the opportunity to walk around the town and invite people to the church that day, and that’s when God really started to show His omnipotence and omnipresence in my relationship with Him. He showed me that even during simple things like walking around a community, He can minister to us through His Holy Spirit. This is a commonly known fact in the Christian church, but to have Him start to express it to me was mind-blowing. He did this the entire day, and at one point I experienced Him speaking through another believer to me. It’s as if my ears were finally opened to hearing His word in my life. The other believer encouraged me to continue to seek Christ in the Spirit and seek after God’s will in my life. God continued like this through the day as we handed out food, provided child care, and ministered to the adults through a sermon, testimonies and fellowship! God is Good!

We did another outreach like Rancho Cuarenta this week where we visited Iglesia De Las Encinas. We provided food, health supplies, church service, child care, and lunch for the families that attended. To finish off the week we attended Calvary Chapel Rosarito where we helped the church during one service and actually attended the other service. God has blessed this week in numerous ways, but my greatest praise is the work God is doing in my life. He’s bringing me to a place where because of my relationship with Him, I am seeking to show others His amazing grace. And to be honest, until now I was seeking to build a relationship with Christ by showing His grace to others; when in reality I can only show His amazing grace and love to others by MY RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. Amen.
