Not Easy
“The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you..” Numbers 6:24-26
It is not easy being away, especially when there is so much we are missing. Our precious Seventh Graders have now left our school (there is no eighth grade in Uganda). Most of the class we have had since they were 3 years old. As our High School is not yet built, they have to leave Midigo and go to public liberal schools, many hours away for a proper continued education. I just pray Numbers 6:24-26 over them and hope they will be able to come to Midigo on one of their breaks to see us.
We have also missed our Kindergarteners Graduation! 132 precious little children being celebrated by over 1,000 people in attendance. They shared that this 1,000 was mixed with those who also invited themselves because they wanted to see all the attraction of the event. From Traditional dances, to marching all over Midigo, gift giving, each one receiving a certificate and followed by eating of a bull, chicken, fish, beans, etc. Closing with again... more dancing!
We have been receiving many photos, videos, and messages from parents and teachers alike who understand and are grateful, but it is still hard to be away from so many milestones.
In America, The Body of Christ
“But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.”
1 Corinthians 12:20
I must say that I have loved visiting quite a few churches this month. My favorite part about visiting churches is to see how God uses the whole body of Christ! Each church is so different and loving! CC Downey had their congregation come down to all the missionary families to pray over us, give us hugs, and words of encouragement! It was such a crazy blessing! Ending the late night having dinner with Pastor Art and family. The next day meeting the mission’s leadership led by Pastor Chad and his wife who had so much wisdom for us from their many years’ experience on the field . CC Temecula felt like the whole church actually knew us and talked to us like we have always been their friends, not just some strangers who popped in to say hi from Africa. The church Tapestry was literally in a movie theater with a 10am show time, and the congregation was from all over the world. CC La Verne feels like a home. Pastor Mark and his wife always go out of their way to spend time with us, encourage us, and make sure Vincent gets to keep teaching while he is in America. Me getting to teach the women at CC Pasadena who have taught me so much and helped me become the woman I am today. Also in this month was the International conference at CC Golden Springs where we get to see so many faces, some so close that have helped us through the hardest of times to lots of new ones. Every church, every pastor, every leader, every congregation is so amazing! We know it is all God’s creation and a chance to see a glimpse of the body of Christ!
Praise and Prayer:
· Please continue to pray for all our ministries and leaders in Midigo! Pray for our children’s camp that will be this month! For protection, provision, but most of all a deeper walk with God. Pray for the sports ministry, the hospital, the Koinonia center with the playground, for the Christmas season to reach out over the community, and for the hearts of the congregation.
· Please pray as we head for the East Coast right after Christmas, then head back to Uganda in January.
· I praise God that the women’s small groups continue to meet and grow. Not only that, but some of the youth girls in college have taken the studies and started groups of their own. What a blessing!!!
· We praise God all medical reports have come back well. What they thought might be a tumor is just a calcified cyst on my spleen from the many hard malaria infestations I had in the early years of being in Africa.
Thank you for all your prayers and love for us!!!
