No Slowing Down
Salutations folks,
It has been an absolutely packed week since I last wrote. We are progressively getting more busy as time goes on and God has been moving. We finished our class about the purpose of the Church, and are starting a new course with Rob Douglass on God being a missionary God. We have participated in 2 more park outreaches which were vastly different in experience, but were both a blessing. The first was done in a really poor neighborhood park outside of the city dump. We organized it with Pastor Eddie and his church called HomeX. We did balloons, face painting, a message for both kids and adults, games, and food. We did our Jonah skit again which the kids loved. We spent over an hour inviting the neighborhood to come which resulted in a huge wave of them actually responding and showing up. People were attentive and the team did an incredible job. We had a second park outreach which was done in a nicer part of town right on the beach front. We went out inviting once again but people were much more closed off and even rude at times. A handful of people showed up which caused us to switch things up due to a lack of people. I was scheduled to share my testimony for the people who showed up but I instead shared it with my team. Although things did not turn out as expected, I was very blessed by what we were able to do for the few people who showed. There were opportunities to pray for members of the local church we were working with as well. It was a great reminder that God is not worried about numbers, but rather with the individual hearts of the people.
Later in the week we went to a midweek service at a drug rehab center. I had a great conversation with the translator and it was sweet to see what God is doing there. This last Sunday we also did a church takeover for Calvary Chapel La Mina. Me and a few others helped with worship, and Pastor Tim taught the sermon. The people were super kind and giving even though they did not have much. The church had been singing to lyric videos for worship because they had nobody to lead them, so it was awesome to be able to help in that way.
I am so thankful for all that God has been doing and for the opportunities to grow here. However, I have been struggling with my back issues but I am able to manage it for now by God’s grace. Spiritual warfare has been heavy for me, so your prayers would be much appreciated. Love you all!
In Christ,
John Mark
