I first thank the Lord for you all and your love and for your support. It’s truly a blessing knowing the body of Christ is here for me in this calling the Lord has been placing on my life.
Secondly, I pray you are all doing well and have true biblical shalom.
So, I’m coming to you with updates! The preparations for Mexico are going well….
Hello family! It has been far too long since I have sent one of these out, but I am hopeful that more regularity will be coming as the Lord has provided me an exceptional help, more on that in a moment. Since my last correspondence I’ve been continuing on in the missions training school here at church, have taken a leadership role in our barbecue ministry, and have even gone on a trip to the Holy Land. But as amazing as all this has been, God has done something exceedingly and abundantly above all that I could’ve asked or thought, which shouldn’t be surprising because He’s God after all. And although I’ve prayed for so long, this answer to those prayers has me relating much more to the believers who thought they saw a ghost when their prayers for Peter to be released from prison were miraculously answered. It astounds me more and more just how easily we can be like the Israelites and limit the Holy One of Israel, but this answer to prayer will always remind me that our God is in fact an Ephesians 3:20 God! So what is this answer to prayer you may ask?….

It’s been a while now that I’ve been back in the states, and I wanted to report to you on what God has done since my last update. As you know, I was in the 10/40 window for the two months of March and April. It is my great pleasure to report that God met me and our team of pastors in the most wonderful way imaginable….
1 year ago, I had a desire for a deeper and more intimate relationship with God. I didn’t just want to know Him. I wanted to know EVERYTHING about Him. The Way, the Truth and the Life.
I’ve been given an opportunity this summer to travel to Rosarito, Mexico to join the Calvary School of Missions where I will be learning about cross-cultural missions. Missions is something I have dreamed of doing for a long time. I’ve often said I want to live a life “on call for the Lord”, and it seems like this is another thing He has put in front of me to do. I will be learning a lot of new things while in Mexico. My time will be spent learning about what the Bible says it means to be a missionary with a focus on church planting, helping/attending the local churches that were planted by Calvary Chapels, helping with children’s VBS, and going on an outreach to an unreached tribe in the San Gregorio Mountains….
I want to begin by saying how incredibly thankful I am for each one of you. Your love, prayers, and support, both in the everyday and significant moments in my life, have been a true blessing to me.
I am pleased to announce that this summer, I’ve been given the opportunity to attend the Calvary School of Missions. It’s a six-week program designed to equip believers for global missions. During this time, I’ll be learning under experienced missionaries, studying God’s Word more deeply, and participating in outreach. I will also be learning about church planting, biblical support raising, cultural immersion, cross-cultural missions and the current state of the unreached. We’ll be partnering with Calvary Chapel Saving Grace in California and Calvary Chapel Rosarito—alongside their many church plants throughout Mexico….
If I’m being honest, it took me a while to think of how to start this letter. I am here sitting on the couch watching TV, thinking how do I go about writing this. And I realized, isn’t this the perfect example of a comfortable life? Comfort is addicting. I could stay here on the couch, keep living this comfortable life, waiting for retirement, hoping I get that promotion at work, living for the weekend, working toward buying that new car or buying that new house. The American dream, that is what I could get. And as much as I want that, as much as I have been taught that that is what I should want, working at a bank that literately tells you that is what you should be working toward. Financial independence, achieving your dreams, getting everything you want, the security of living your life knowing every step, it all sounds too good to pass up. And as much as that sounds nice, I feel the Lord has called me to leave it all behind……
I am excited to tell you about the next phase of my life. During the next six weeks I will be attending Calvary School of Missions in Rosarito, Mexico. This training program will begin June 28th and I’m so blessed to be able to be a part of it. Many of you know, I have always evangelized and loved talking about the Lord and His purpose. Why are we called to be His hands and his feet? Is it not to make disciples, with the wonderful Gospel of Salvation To a lost and dying world……..
Mexico? Now before you jump to writing your reply too fast…allow me to explain. Remember last summer when I left for Mexico for 6 weeks to attend the Calvary School of Missions(CSOM)? I am going back!
“Serena, why are you going back if you already went?”
I am so glad you asked!! Well.. I will not be going as a student this year… I will be going as a leader!! I will be able to see more behind the scenes of hosting a team, getting to know the girls, and simply being available to help in any way possible! Because if you remember.. There are a LOT of outreaches and church takeovers. But.. for those who may not be familiar with CSOM allow me to explain a little…….
Greetings from Mexico. We had a wonderful month of May here in Mexico, but in this update I wanted to share with you a big change in our extended family and ministry!
Nine years ago I received a phone call from my brother Mitch who had been serving in Hawaii with Teen Challenge for many years. Mitch and his wife Joy were sensing a change in their ministry calling and they asked if they could move to Mexico with us and join our church’s full time missionary staff.
I enthusiastically invited them and for the past nine years Mitch and Joy have served faithfully at our church along with their three precious children (My nieces and nephew) Faith, Justice, and Hope!
Mitch’s family has served in so many ministries over the years it’s almost impossible to recount. (But I will try) Joy has served as a women’s ministry leader, a mission’s trip leader, a greeter, the kettle corn assistant, and has served on our church planting class staff.
Mitch has served as a Sunday School teacher, the (Mexican) Kettle Master, a church planting course leader, and a worship leader. Some of my greatest memories over the past nine years are being up on stage and leading worship together. Mitch always sang with passion and skill, and he was the favorite worship singer for many in our congregation.
Although I will miss Mitch and Joy, I might miss my nephew and nieces the most. At nearly the exact time that my children had grown up and started college, God sent a new batch of younger Vincent’s that I could love and enjoy.
It was a great blessing to see Mitch’s children learn Spanish, profess faith and get baptized, make new friends, and thrive at the church. I made sure we had a special final “CRAZY UNCLE DAY” where I took them to the carnival where we made some final lasting memories together.
As I reflected back this week on our time together, one word kept coming into my mind, Thankfulness. I am thankful that God gave me nine close years with my brother Mitch and his family, and I am thankful to the Lord for sending them to serve with us at Calvary Rosarito. When I think of Mitch and Joy, I am reminded of the words of our Lord Jesus found in Matthew 25:23, “Well done good and faithful servants!”
I will miss Mitch and Joy and their family, as they were a great blessing to me and the ministry here. But I do believe that this move to Missouri is a good move and God’s will for their family. Joy’s family (the Guasti’s) all live there and Mitch and Joy have had the privilege of buying several income earning properties. Please keep them in your prayers as they make this cross country move at the time of the writing of this letter.
On another note, many of you were praying for my court case in May. Just a few weeks ago, I went back to the local Criminal court to try and get the frivolous lawsuit thrown out over the property South of the church that we legally purchased several years ago. When I arrived for the court case that morning, I received some fantastic news. WE WON!!!! Thanks to the good Lord and thanks to your prayers, a higher court sided with us and Lord willing this will bring an end to the criminal side of things. Regarding the lawsuits, there is still work to do, so please pray we see God’s favor in the CIVIL court which is the court with the final say over the property.
Finally, I want to thank you once again for your partnership with us in the ripe mission fields of Mexico. It is through your prayers that God meet’s our spiritual needs, and through your financial partnership that God meet’s our physical needs. I love you and am praying for you.
Con mucho amor de Mexico, (with much love from Mexico)
Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel
