WASTE DEEP!
Hello again, friends and family!
I’m so excited to share with you everything that the Lord’s been doing here in Mexico!!!
On our second full day in Mexico, we had our first outreach! We visited a community living in a dump, giving out food and drinks, and testimonies were shared. My first thought upon seeing the dump was that this is a visual personification of what sin and death have caused the world to be. These people, whom the Lord loves deeply, live in an actual dump. Where they most likely have been treated by the world as untouchable. They likely haven’t been smiled at, looked in the eye, or even hugged in several years. But God had it in His heart to stretch out His merciful and loving hand to those seen as outcasts to the world. The Lord has not forgotten them, even though the world has.

The pastor we partnered with for this outreach has been there faithfully ministering to the community in the dump for seven years. In those seven years, he’s provided water for the community every day and provided them with the living water only given by Jesus Christ. We were able to take part in this on Tuesday, praying for the people, encouraging them, worshipping together, sharing testimonies, and most importantly, the Gospel was preached to the lost. Four individuals were saved that day!
After an amazing outreach day on Tuesday, we spent Monday through Thursday studying the model for the church in Acts, the Great Commission, and the overarching theme of our study throughout the week, “The Purpose of the Church.” then we had our second outreach on Friday!
Friday, June 3rd, our second outreach was at a local park where our team invited people around the park to come and join us for a day of worship, testimonies, children’s activities, and fellowship. During the day, I sat down next to a little girl who had just heard the Gospel and received Jesus into her heart, and I just began talking with her and just loving on her. I didn’t think about it then, but looking back on the fun time we had together, one scripture comes to mind that my Mom often quotes.

“ Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
Psalms 139:3
I don’t know what kind of home life this little girl had, but according to this scripture, she is an inheritance and a reward from the Lord Himself. I pray and hope that she felt the love of Jesus through the laughter we shared, the silly games, and the crafts. Even though she didn’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish that well, she made me very aware when she said in Spanish, “How come you don’t speak like a normal person?” The love of Jesus is boundless and no language barrier can contain His love.
Because of your love and support, light was able to shine in the midst of darkness in Rosarito! I’m so thankful for you all and that you guys can be a part of this journey! I can say confidently that because of you all, the Lord was glorified and made known this week! I will continue to keep you all updated!!!
