Not Your Average Trash Talk
¡Hola, amigos y familia!
This first week at CSOM has been such a blessing and encouragement to me!
Our first outreach here in Mexico was at a dump (no, not a metaphorical dump, but a real dump). We partnered with Pastor Eddie, who has faithfully gone to the dump for 7 years to minister to the people who live among the trash. He now runs and teaches at a church service for the people living there.
We were able to join him as he went to various shacks (made of wood, tarps, or whatever else was available) to invite people to the outreach event we were hosting. While I knew there was much poverty in our world, I was astonished to learn that 1 billion people are slum dwellers.
We met a woman Pastor Eddie had shared the Gospel with, who had committed her life to Jesus. She has also remained clean since rehab, and Pastor Eddie was perplexed as to why she would want to go back when she now had an opportunity to get out of living in the dump.
Her response was, “So that I can go and share Jesus with (the others living at the dump).” This woman faithfully invites her neighbors to the church service every week. Though there is a language barrier, her heart for her lost neighbors moved me greatly, and challenged me as I considered what my response would have been if I were in her position.
We will continue our Purpose of the Church class this week. In this class, we are looking at what the book of Acts (as well as the rest of God’s Word) has to say about missions. This has been quite informative and has solidified what I had learned in my previous mission training; it has reminded me of the great need for evangelization and discipleship across the globe, specifically among unreached peoples.
Please join me in praying for the Lord to send more laborers into the harvest!
“Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” - Matthew 9:37-38

I am thankful for the many people we were able to meet, share the Gospel with, and pray for at our outreaches!
Below is a photo of some of our team after we had taught a few children some counting games, after the main outreach events were over. It has been sweet to see each person’s giftings utilized in various ways! I look forward to witnessing more of this!
On Sunday, at Calvary Chapel Rosarito, God did something none of us expected. A man who some other teammates spoke with and invited to church a few days prior (who also appeared to be under the influence of substances) came to church on Sunday! He professed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord!
Please pray for him as he is discipled and grows in his faith, and that in doing so, he would leave behind the things of this world that do not satisfy or fulfill.
After serving at church, we were able to enjoy some Mexican food - a blessing from the Lord on the Lord’s Day!
