The Gospel Must Go Forth

I am so grateful that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not on lockdown. In a crazy world and crazy times we have a future and a hope. The future and that hope is based in the salvation of our souls and the reconciliation to God through the cross of Jesus Christ. Faith in his shed blood for the forgiveness of our sins is the only hope for mankind. Therefore the gospel must go forth. The gospel is not on lockdown. God won’t be masked, God won’t be muzzled, God won’t be toppled like some statue.

He wants to use us to do this. He wants to do it in His timing in His way. That is exactly why I am setting out to direct CSOM 2020. Calvary School of Missions year two.

CSOM 2019

I will admit last year, 2019, when we launched the pilot program CSOM there were many including myself at times who thought it was a crazy idea that could not be done. I will also admit I was wrong and they were wrong. The Lord had placed CSOM on the hearts of leadership here at Calvary Chapel Saving Grace and the Lord is never wrong. Last year he worked in amazing ways in all of our lives; the young students as well as leaders and teachers. On top of the “in the moment experience,” there has been much long-lasting fruit from last year’s school.

We currently have five young interns from CSOM 2019 who have been trained up in the school as well as a year-long intern program I was able to lead bringing them to the place they are today, poised and ready to go to the nations. They have locations they are going and are in the final stages of preparing to go to bring the nations the gospel of Jesus Christ. They will be working in the 10/40 window amongst the most unreached of the world and we were blown away to have had a front-row seat to see what the Lord is doing in and through them in the CSOM.

Even though it looks way crazier than last year, Jenn and I are expecting CSOM 2020 to be equally incredible and fruitful. One of the main differences in our lives is that we are married and although last year she was of great support, this year she is all in. I’m so grateful she will be able to be on the trip this year and I’m so grateful for the many ways she partners with me in ministry. I will be gone for six weeks of which Jenn only gets to be with me for 10 days due to our need for her to still work. Jenn has partnered with me in so many ways preparing for this school, please pray for us as we will be apart for an extended period for the first time. She is a fantastic partner on the field and even though being apart from each other will be difficult we are totally convinced that pouring into future missionaries to send around the world is worth the hardship.

We appreciate your prayers and are so grateful for you who have already joined us in this area. If the Lord leads you to partner with us financially or increase your already generous support, you can do so by clicking here to become a financial partner or by mailing your support check to

God Doesn’t Do Social Distancing

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength a very present help in time of trouble…

God doesn’t do social distancing and I am so glad about that. The whole world is willing to recognize that we are in very different times than ever before. We are all willing to recognize these are very troubled times yet still I find too few who are willing to recognize the truths found in Psalm 46. I would encourage you today to read through Psalm 46, to understand that the Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Let me share with you a brief summary of the last three months. I would invite and enjoy it if you would connect with me for a more in-depth personal discussion. Since February when this most bizarre pandemic hit our world, our/my God has shown me that He doesn’t do social distancing. Every step of the way, every new twist God has been there. For many, this has been a time to be able to slow down but for myself and the rest of the pastoral staff here at Saving Grace World Missions, things got kicked into high gear. Technology has become a vital tool for me, all be it a very frustrating one due to not understanding it well, but it has still been very valuable. Personal contact has always been so important to me. Whether it’s face-to-face or telephone, but during this time I have been able to connect with our missionaries around the world on the various video chat platforms. In this season I have found myself able to care for missionaries around the world more than ever.

One thing’s for sure, broken lives, confused and lost individuals, fear, uncertainty, anger, frustration, and anxiety have not been on lockdown due to COVID-19. As a matter of fact, the scattered and shut down ministries have only exasperated this. People are still in need of lots of counsel, hope, and comfort that is only found in the word of God. By the grace of God and your partnership, I am grateful that I have been in a position to offer that.

COVID-19 can’t stop The Gospel and it can’t stop us. Jenn is still ministering at full speed as well, leaving the house every day with a great attitude, facing ministry with women who already make unhealthy life choices and are at high risk of exposure. She told me one morning when leaving that she has to go, how else would these ladies hear the word of God and receive the tools they need to stay sober.

Again I would love to speak with you in person because there is just too much to put in one update. I would love to share about unique Sunday services teaching morning devotionals, couples devotionals, Bible college teachings in south Asia and so much more the Lord has allowed us to be a part of in the midst of a world-wide pandemic.

It’s crazy to think of unless you realize how big our God is.

Now more than ever we are in need of people who wish to partner with us financially. We are so grateful to you who have already joined us in this area. If the Lord leads you to join us financially or increase your already generous support, you can do so by clicking here to become a financial partner or by mailing your support check to

Expanding Horizons

Funny thing about horizons… They have a way of continuing to expand.

This year has gotten off to a great start. Jenn and I were able to attend the Calvery Chapel missions conference which is always been a great treat for me. To be able to share it with my bride and ministry partner this year was like having my cake and eating it too. Being able to see old friends and meet new ones from all around the world really helped re-solidify the calling God has upon our lives. The feedback that I’ve gotten from every missionary I’ve talked to is that the ministry God has given us is so important. Some of them with tear-filled eyes tried to express their joy and gratitude for someone to care for them in the way the Lord has led us to do. Missionaries need care, missionaries are not super-spiritual Christian all-stars. Missionaries are normal people with normal hurts, fears, and issues. To let them know they are not forgotten and minister to them in every and any way that we can is our great passion and a God-given gift to us.

Another one of the multi-faceted ways we have been able to care for missionaries so far this year was in the assembling of a team to help process year-end tax statements of donations. As we folded letters, stuffed and sealed envelopes, stamped, and delivered them to the post office, I was reminded of God’s great faithfulness and provision for His missionaries and our privilege to care for them in this way.

There was so much more that could be shared about in this month. Just to mention a few was the sending of more than 15 people to the mission field, leading a trip to Mexico to deliver furniture to a special-needs orphanage there, and being able to teach Chapel three times in South Asia.

Praise Report:

Mexico Team

Praise God that Tim now has really good health insurance for only $160 a month. We are so grateful for that, however, we are seeking assistance to help cover that cost. We are also in need of financial assistance to cover the costs of providing care for missionaries. If you would like to partner with us in this, your support through prayer and finances would be greatly appreciated. We are still in need of people who wish to partner with us.

We are most appreciative of you who have already joined us in this area, and we are grateful that we have reached 1/2 of our monthly support needs. If the Lord leads you to join us financially, you can do so by clicking here to become a financial partner or by mailing your support check to:

A Very Different Season

Many of you maybe wondering what has gone on since the 2019 Calvary School of Missions where I was fortunate to be able to lead the on-ground operations of the missions training school launched by Saving Grace World Missions. I do have to confess since then it has been quite an interesting season.

For a period of that time, quite frankly, I was asking myself what am I doing here?
This was the question, this has been the struggle. As I have returned to work here in the SGWM (Saving Grace World Missions) home office, fulfilling my duties as the Assistant Director as well as my role as associate pastor at Calvary Chapel Saving Grace, I’ve asked myself a lot of questions. What am I doing here, why am I sitting in hours of meetings, why am I answering phones, why am I chasing emails, why am I dealing with traffic? Why, why, why? Well, a few answers became clear to me.
First of all because this is what God has called me to for this season. Even though my heart longs to be in the field and to be in the lives of missionaries, God has called me for the time being to pour into them from afar and take short visits to them.
Secondly, God has entrusted to my care several young men and women from the school who are now interning with us. The Lord has seen fit to allow me to pour into their lives, guide them, and direct them as they seek to acquire the skills and tools they will need to succeed on the mission field.

Missionaries in Training

Sowing, Watering, and Harvesting

Sowing: I bet sometimes the farmer wonders, “why in the world am I digging in these hard rocks? What the heck am I doing in this dusty field?” Especially if he’s had opportunity to water, watch things grow, and even harvest as I have. So, what am I doing in this office, meeting, country? Sowing, that’s what!

The farmer doesn’t get to only water, the farmer doesn’t get to only harvest; he gets to do the hard work of sowing as well. I say that I get to do the work of sowing because I have found it to be quite a joy once I got the proper perspective, God’s perspective.

From Marriage to Mexico within Two Days

Lastly, was the reality of the most excellent reason that I am back here, that is to plan and participate in a wedding. Many of you know I’ve been dating the love of my life for a little over two years God has shown me what a wonderful ministry partner, friend and helpmate Jenn is and on November 23rd, Jenn and I were married! I am excited to see how the Lord is going to use us as a couple in ministering to missionaries. God has gifted Jenn with many talents and skills, along was being very smart and beautiful she has the rare ability to truly love people, to listen to the issues of their heart, and care for their souls. I’m looking forward to partnering with Mrs. Pappas in the care of missionaries and I’m excited to see what God is going to do in and through the two of us.

We are in need of people who wish to partner with us financially. I am most appreciative of you who have already joined me in this area, and I’m grateful that I have reached 1/2 of my monthly support needs. It Just Keeps Getting Better

Hello everyone, we had a wonderful Mission trip to Peru where I was able to be a part of the leadership team for our high school and young adults mission trip. We spent 14 days journeying to Peru ministering there and returning. Calvary Chapel Huacho was our receiving church and ministry partners on the trip. Pastor Craig Tippie and his crew there took fantastic care of us.

We did several outreaches, and had deep fellowship with the church body there but most importantly witnessed six people give their lives to the Lord. I rejoice in the fact that six souls were saved. Another exciting thing about this is that they will be immediately discipled and welcomed into the church to have a place to grow in their relationship with Christ.

Pastor Craig said that it was a joy to have our team there and I completely agree. I was continually impressed and humbled at the level of unity, self-sacrifice, and love the youngsters from our church consistently demonstrated. One of the brothers who is a leader in Craig’s church said that our church reminded him of their church in the way that we love and serve each other.

I was reminded of what Jesus said to His disciples,

“…that people will know [we] are [His] disciples by our love one for another.”

-John 13:35

Another absolutely incredible opportunity on the trip was that I got to travel with my sweetheart, the love of my life and future wife. Ministering with her on a missions trip in Peru was an absolute joy, I think a missions trip should be part of any premarital counseling. We are getting married in November and I can’t tell you how grateful I am that we had the opportunity to serve in this way together.

Upon returning from Peru I took a few days to regroup and have headed out to Mexico where I get to lead an incredible group of young men and women at the six week Calvary School of Missions. More about that in my next update!

Prayer requests:

  1. That Jenn and I would continue to bear fruit as we walk forward in the call God has on our lives for the furtherance of the gospel around the world.
  1. Wisdom and humility as I lead the Calvary School of Missions (CSOM) for the next 6 weeks in Baja, Mexico.
  1. Strength for Jenn as she holds down the fort in California while we are separated for the next six weeks.

Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support.

Blessings from Mexico

South for the Winter

South, South, South…..

Some birds fly south for the winter, some retired folk go south for the winter and that’s exactly what I found myself doing. Granted I’m not retired nor am I vacationing or engaged in any other activities the birds might be engaged in down South, but I found myself continuing to follow the call of the Lord upon my life in the South during the season. It started with a couple of trips to Oaxaca where I was able to join SGWM missionaries who are dear friends of mine as they sought for a place to plant a brand-new church in southern Mexico

A few months after that I was able to take a three-week trip to South America where myself and three other pastors from Calvary Chapel Saving Grace were able to visit six missionary families in Peru and Brazil. My heart and the calling I believe the Lord has upon my life has been focused on missionary care and while we were in Peru we were able to spend deep, meaningful time in fellowship, worship, and prayer with some frontline servants of the Lord. I was highly encouraged as they shared how much our visits meant and it was a real confirmation that I am walking in the Lord’s will for my life.

One missionary who ministers deep in the Amazon jungle shared with us that nobody has come to see the work in eight years. They welcomed us into their home and I felt like family. As well as spending time in their home, we went with them eight hours by speedboat deep into the Amazon jungle to see and be a part of the work they’re doing bringing the Gospel and the love of Christ to a native tribe there.

Since then there have been a few trips to Baja Mexico in preparation for a six week school of missions class that I get to be a part of leading. More about that in my next update letter.

Words cannot express how much I appreciate all of your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. It’s been a challenging season but if I keep my focus on the Lord, His word and those He has brought into my life I continue to find exactly what I need to stay the course.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. Please pray for my two major trips coming up starting June 22nd I will be in Peru for two weeks and immediately afterwards in Mexico for six weeks
  2. Please pray for my fiancé Jenn as she will be joining the team in Peru for her first overseas missions trip
  3.  Please pray for the six-week School of missions in Mexico all of July and half of August.

Again I think you so much for your partnership in the Gospel and Service to missionaries around the world.

~ Tim.
