Greetings from Mexico. I hope that you had a wonderful month of June! This past month we had a historic month and in this update I want to tell you all about it. First off, the WORLD CUP began and there are soccer games going on in Canada, the USA, and in my beloved Mexico. All of Mexico goes crazy for soccer (they call it futbol here) especially when Mexico is winning their games like they are now. Mexico won their first three games, and we celebrate each win by celebrating and watching the games together at the church!
Also, at the end of June, we celebrated one of the greatest events in the history of our church and ministry. After 24 years, we are BUYING OUR BUILDING. Yes, you read that correctly, we are BUYING OUR BUILDING! To be honest, when we began this project, I had trouble believing that a church in Mexico could purchase the largest church facility in the state, but that’s exactly what the Lord has done. I am so thankful to our Lord Jesus, to our church family, and to you our generous ministry partners!
Over the past 2 months, we raised over 60% of the 1.4 million dollar purchase price, and we recently finalized a deal with the owner to put that 60% cash down, and then make much smaller balloon payments (INTEREST FREE!!! THANK YOU LORD!) each July for the next 6 years. To celebrate our facility purchase, our church held a large celebration with COMIDA GRATIS! (Free Food) I wish you could have been there to witness the joy and happiness in our church family as we celebrated together. I am so very thankful to each one of you for your prayers, your faith, and your financial gifts.
Also in June we celebrated our 24 year church anniversary! It was all the way back in June of 2002 when our young family stood on the stage of our sending church (Calvary Chapel Saving Grace in Yorba Linda) and we were SENT OUT to Mexico to plant the church in Rosarito. I remember that day well, as Daniel was only 2 weeks old and Grace had just turned two. Sarah and I were full of faith, but we could have never imagined the amazing journey God had planned for us. Reflecting back on 24 years of God’s faithfulness, we are very aware that we couldn’t have done any of this without you, our precious ministry partners that have stood with us every step of the way. Once again, Thank you!
In June we hosted our fourth annual Mexico Prophecy Conference. This annual conference is hosted by my good friend Pastor Tom Hughes and his prophecy ministry, “Hope for our Times!” This year we also had Pastors Brandon Holthaus and David Zamora with us to teach our congregation the importance of Biblical Prophecy! A highlight of this conference was the twelve other local churches who joined us to be taught and built up.
For the past three months, I have been 100% focused on our Legacy Project (building purchase) and have not been able to visit our church plants, which is one of my favorite things to do. So the minute our Legacy Project finished up, I was excited to once again hit the road to visit two of our church plants located in Las Vegas Nevada. We had a wonderful and fruitful time in Las Vegas, although I don’t recommend visiting there in June, as the average temperature while we were there was 108!
Our first stop on this mission’s trip was to visit my good friend Pastor Fernando Serrano and his church plant, Awaken Oasis. Pastor Fernando was one of my main Assistant Pastors for over 10 years, until we sent him out to plant his bilingual church. After just a couple years, their church already has over 300 attendee’s and they see new professions of faith every single Sunday.
Also on this trip, we visited one of our newer church plants, Calvary Chapel New Beginnings. While there, we were able to host a “Healthy Church” conference. I had three of my future church planters with me (Oscar , Ramon, and Shawn) and each one of them gave a wonderful teaching and I was excited to see God preparing them to plant their own churches down the road.
Finally, I want to thank you once again for your partnership with our family here in the ripe mission fields of Mexico. This is truly a HISTORIC TIME in the history of our church, and we are so thankful for you, our precious ministry partners who have prayed and believed and given over the years. We feel blessed and honored to serve as your missionaries.
