The Dump Pirate Preacher
The first two weeks of CSOM have been jampacked.
Last week we visited a community that lives inside a city dump. I was asked to give a small sermon to the inhabitants of this community and I was extremely nervous. I have been to communities like this in the past, but I have never taught a sermon in one. In full honesty, I was feeling very inadequate and my worst fear was to misspeak and come off as condescending. But my fellow brothers in Christ prayed for me and reminded me that the Word of God is living and powerful. Indeed, it is, I am very happy to share that a woman in the group made a profession of faith that day. I unfortunately did not get a chance to speak with her after teaching, but my sisters in Christ did an excellent job of giving her follow up and praying for her.

After the outreach in the dump, we had the opportunity to do an outreach in a local park. At first, I became a little distracted and discouraged because there were very few people in the park to preach to. But that morning the assigned reading was Luke fifteen where Jesus says that the shepherd leaves the 99 sheep to find the one lost one. That was definitely the word I needed for that day, because all I had to do was interpret and help set up. So, I gave it my all, praying that even one person in this park would give their life to God. I even painted my face to get in the children's ministry spirit. I am also very pleased to share that a group of children raised their hands to accept Jesus after the teaching that one of the sister's gave.
After both of those outreaches guess what we did...another outreach! Obviously, it takes a lot of mental and physical energy to do these events, but it has been such a blessing for me. On our third outreach we went to a swap meet and set up a stand where we gave free balloon animals, face paint and, most importantly, the Gospel. I've learned an important skill for future ministry: the art of balloon animal making. On a more serious note, I went out with a group to evangelize amongst the stands of the swap meet. I noticed how receptive the people were to the message, but sadly no confessions of faith were made. But seeds were definitely planted; my prayer is that those seeds would grow and produce fruit that someone else would have the privilege of reaping.
`After all of these outreaches, we came to our dedicated day to the Lord and joined the congregation at Calvary Chapel Rosarito. It was awesome being back with this church that has blessed me with so many friends. I am proud to have brothers and sisters in Christ who come from this calvary. I was even the bestman to one of the staff members of this church. So you can imagine how encouraging it was to be back and to be refreshed in the spirit by them. "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!" - Psalm 133:1

Please pray for my roommate’s (John Mark) back. He is in a lot of pain and it’s hard to see a brother go through that.

Please pray for my girlfriend Ariana as she moves back home to Las Vegas.
Please pray for financial provision for all the students’ needs.
