Harris Family Update
- May 2026 -
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
~ Romans 8:28 ~
We have great news, good news, and bad news.
First, for the great news. God has blessed Noelle and me with a new family member! We are so excited to announce that Noelle is pregnant and that she is due to deliver at the end of September! We don’t know if the baby is a boy or a girl yet, but we will find out soon, and we are so excited to welcome the new baby out of the womb when the time comes, no matter the gender. We have been wanting to add another baby to our family for quite some time, but we felt we had to wait till the adoption was finalized before we could.
Our good news is that we are planning on visiting the United States for a furlough soon! Our hope is to have our baby in Colorado Springs with family, but also to visit as many of you as we can. If by God’s grace we are able to get back to America, we will spend time in multiple states, including Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oregon, and California. We long to see you, catch up with you, share with you, and enjoy your company. We are open to preach, to teach, or to share about our ministry with any groups, no matter how few or many people. We do not have specific dates yet, but we will be sure to let you know as soon as we do. Please don’t be shy to reach out to us; we do not want to miss any of you.
The bad news. Unfortunately, our family's travel plans have been affected by the Ebola outbreak. In order for our whole family to come to the United States, we need two things: first, we need a temporary visa for Apiyo; second, we need a stateside appointment for her citizenship. Concerning the visa, last week, we traveled for our appointment, but when two Ugandans tested positive for Ebola, the Embassy canceled all their visa appointments for the foreseeable future. We are now fighting for our appointment to be moved to the consulate in Kenya. Concerning the citizenship appointment, we are at the end of a 48-month-long line, and if we are to wait for our turn, Apiyo will age out of the system. So we are simultaneously fighting to get our appointment expedited.
This month, please join us in prayer:
That God would care for the 600+ Ebola victims in Eastern Congo, and the 5 here in Uganda, along with their families.
That God would use this tragedy to bring many people to know Him.
That God would grant us an appointment for our visa in Kenya this week.
That God would help us get an expedited citizenship appointment for Apiyo so that we can be free to travel home with her whenever we choose.
That God would bless the pastors and church leaders who are studying with us as they prepare for their upcoming module. Next month, we will walk our certificate students through a four-week overview of the Old Testament, and our diploma students through a five-week study of the Old Testament’s historical books, wisdom literature, and prophetic books.
May Christ richly bless you all.
With Love, Matt, Noelle, Apiyo, Emma, Madeline, Noah, Charlotte, and Baby!
