“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

~ Hebrews 13:9 ~

Beginning of a New Year

I hope that all of you have had an absolutely wonderful Christmas and New Years! This time came and went very quickly for me, but was so magical to be with family in California for such a special time. I also made some new friends. Brandin is one of them (photo below). We became good friends really quick, so eventually I ended up finding a Peruvian restaurant in Los Angeles and we went and had Pollo a la Brasa (really good rotisserie chicken with fries and rice). If you live in that area, you should go try “Sabor, Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken y mas” in Fullerton!

A cool story: He invited me and my brother out to CrossFit a few times and, although I threw up the first time, I really loved it. I have been getting back into regular exercise, so it worked out well to go to CrossFit, although it is very intense. Then, when I got back to Peru, one of my friends I go to exercise with, Jesús, invited me out to a CrossFit gym in Trujillo that a guy from the church owns. What a coincidence! Jesús has never even done CrossFit before!

On the way back to Peru I also met up with a graduate from the CBI, Esteban, who lives in Lima. It was very special to catchup and see all God is continuing to do in his life. He is working full time right now, but loves missions and is planning trips to support the new CBI in Argentina, and church plants in Chile and Peru.

Vacaciones con Propósito

We have begun! Monday, January 5th marked the beginning of Vacaciones con Propósito (summer school) at Calvary Trujillo. This awesome project we have started as a church has been so incredibly encouraging and joyful. I get so happy when I see all the kids pouring into their classes in the morning.

I have had the special privilege to to be involved in the leadership of the summer school and upcoming pre-school, but I also am a teacher for the English class! I co-teach with a lady named Emma, and we teach three different age groups called Turtles (3-5 years), Dolphins (6-8 years) and Lions (9-10 years). I’ll be honest, teaching English to 3 year olds is definitely challenging, but I have been learning so much. We have gotten great responses from the parents too! Positive feedback from the parents have been a great blessing, mentioning how their kids get excited about what the next character will be played in the theatre class and how much fun they had making different foods in mini chef. Parents are very grateful for the English class as well, some even thought the whole school was just the English class. Actually, we have 8 different classes in total! But classes for foreign languages can be expensive in Peru, so it is looked very highly upon.

The House is Leaking!

Another crazy thing that has been happening is we have been getting rains in Trujillo pretty consistently for almost 2 weeks. Personally, I love the rain, but it is terrible for the city which has very little infrastructure to handle water. Unfortunately it has been a nightmare for Pastor Cory as well, whose house has about 20 different leaks! Because of the leaking issue at his home, a bunch of the guys from the Bible school who have arrived early for the semester came over and we built a temporary tarp structure over the dissolving concrete roof until professionals could come and pave it with tiles to make it waterproof.

We caught a beautiful pink sunset while building the structure!

Invading Moyobamba

This March 6-13 I will be taking a trip to Moyobamba to support a missions trip with 2 different teams from the states. One from Calvary Star and the other CBI Kauai, a total of 40 people! Afterwards they will be staying a week in Trujillo to help with a bunch of different projects, including the upcoming Youth Camp. Please be praying for these teams and the trip, that God would use them powerfully to change people’s lives through the gospel, and those on the teams would be impacted.

Calling all Partners!

It is my honor to connect you, my sisters and brothers of the church in America, to God’s work on the missions field, showing the fruit of our work! If you would like to get more involved in this work, there are different ways you can partner with me as I seek to bring the gospel to the most needy.
