A Change in Ministry
~ October 2025 ~
“It is a good thing that the heart be established with grace.”
~ Hebrews 13:9 ~
Dear Friends, Family, and Loved Ones,
First and foremost, I want to share an important update below!
A Change in Ministry
There has been a big change in my role in the children’s home for trafficked children. After a period of concentrated prayer in seeking the Lord’s guidance, it has become clear over the past year in Peru that my profile, specifically age and being a young single male, makes me less than an ideal candidate to lead a highly sensitive children’s home. Based on the decision making from Gospel South America, as well as the pastors of Calvary Trujillo, it has been decided that I will not be a part of the children’s home ministry.
I encourage you to contact me directly if you have questions or want to know more about this change either through this email or by WhatsApp to my Peruvian phone number +51 903187399.
Called to be Faithful
Although this big change has given me concerns about my future more than once, God has graciously ministered to me Hebrews 13:9. His grace has always stayed the same, and God has never failed in showing the next steps in His time. Over the last year He has given me great opportunities to be part of the different ministries in Calvary Trujillo. He has given me a special role in the Bible school to disciple the guys, help with day to day activities, and be on the construction team. I have also gotten very involved in the deaf ministry, children’s ministry, and now the upcoming summer school program and preschool. God has ministered to me about being faithful to the things He has already given me, and although I am not sure about what my long-term future looks like, I will be faithful to the people He has placed in front of me. Therefore I am going to be continuing to serve at the church and bible school in Trujillo, Peru.
Accidentally Reaching More Deaf
Over the past few months I have had opportunities to visit various places in Peru- so I wanted to share some cool stories.
Towards the end of the Summer on a Mission program, we went to visit the jungle city of Moyobamba to serve and support the church plant there. While there we had the opportunity to share our testimonies and a gospel message at a technical institute in each of the classrooms. The night we went we only had limited time to get to all the classes (of a 5 story building), so we split up in groups and started sharing for 15-20 minutes in each class. While my group was in the middle of sharing at our third class, someone from another group called me to come out to the hall. I was reluctant because it was right when a testimony was being shared. But after incessant calling, I came out. She told me that there was a deaf person in one of the classes, and so I went in to help communicate with him. When I went in, the group had already finished sharing their testimony and gospel message, so I just began talking to the man. His name is Gerson.
Gerson is a very smart deaf man who was studying while working for the region school board. Although he knew sign language very well, he had no relationship with anyone in the school because no one else knew sign language. He completed classwork by the teacher sending written homework and if he had questions or needed to communicate, he would write on pieces of paper to the teacher. When everyone saw that I was communicating to Gerson through signs, the whole class, which I found out later were previously completely indifferent to the foreigners sharing about Jesus to them, had their eyes fixed to us. I got to take the opportunity to share the gospel with Gerson and pray for him to receive forgiveness through Jesus’ death and resurrection. It was a beautiful experience I will never forget.
This was not a one-time experience. When I went on a short one-day trip to a city called Mancora, I met a deaf lady on the beach and shared with her. In Trujillo I have also met deaf on the road while sharing the gospel. There is a real continual need for reaching out to these people with the grace of God and practical care!

Let us Rise Up and Build
That was the motto for this semester at CBI Peru, taken from Nehemiah 2:18, “And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. So they said, ‘let us rise up and build.’ Then they set their hands to this good work.” Just as God’s hand was good upon Nehemiah, so He has blessed the ministry here. This semester the students were built up spiritually, but also got to take part in building during missions trips to support and plant new churches!
The graduates!
This semester I helped lead a group to Concepcion, Chile, where we spent a week and a half doing renovations on a new church plant that had their first Sunday that weekend. Pastor Julian and his wife moved there only 2 months before. We were on full steam ahead in painting and wood work projects throughout the house-converted-church each morning. At about 2pm we would finish up and head out to the many universities that fill the city of Concepcion. This is one of the most progressive, liberal cities in South America. Having grown up around Portland, Oregon, I felt at home and was ready to bring the light of the gospel to these confused, deceived, and searching young adults. God blessed the new church greatly with a steady group of believers/new believers, and they just recently had their first baptisms last Sunday!
