Stir Stir Stir

Hello again! Guys…it’s already week three! We are officially closing in on the halfway point of the School of Missions.

Each of us have been absolutely flooded with information. I lay my head on my pillow at night and try to quiet my mind instead of thinking in the Spanish I’m learning, or mulling over the people I talked to at our last outreach, or thinking about the truth God has been piercing my heart with.

But you know, this whirl in my mind is such a privilege. When I find a quiet moment, what feels like a chaotic tornado of thoughts becomes a colorful mosaic of testimonies, practicalities, and eye-opening realities. One that is stirring me up for the future.

I sit with the statistics about the unreached that are being shared in class and my heart is heavy. I see pictures of people from all over the globe and hear about their living conditions and I am convicted about my own life. I read my Bible and see the selflessness of the Son of God, Jesus Christ sitting in the dust with the shunned and rejected of His day and I pray that my heart would ache for the lost around me like His does.

Let me give you a taste of what we’ve been learning.

Let’s look at India for a moment. According to a Christian resource called Joshua Project, there are nearly 7,100 unreached people groups in India alone as of February 2026. That is 3.58 billion people dying who have never heard the Gospel before. Ever. People all over the world living in spiritual (and physical) darkness, enslaved to deceptive religions simply because they have never heard the name of Jesus spoken in their language before. No one has ever told them that God loves them. Some of them have no concept of what that means.

Think about where you would be if no one had ever told you about Jesus. Where would I be? God in His sovereignty allowed me to be born in a country and city where the name of Jesus is common knowledge. There’s probably a guy on the street corner preaching the Gospel in my hometown as we speak.

Even if Jesus hadn’t explicitly said it in Matthew 28, doesn’t that mean that I have a responsibility to tell the people who don’t know what I know? To give them a chance to receive what I have received?

Last week we read a book called Radical by David Platt. It contains a truly life-changing reality check for the American believer, who has been steeped in Western Christianity.

There is one thought that has especially struck me.

The Bible tells me that Jesus is the only way to heaven and that anyone who does not believe in Him will spend eternity separated from God in hell. The cross is the answer for our sin against a holy and righteous God, and if we reject His answer, we have to pay with our own that is ultimately insufficient. Thank you Lord for sending Jesus! This is the Gospel, right? Matthew 28:18-20 is the great commission given to every believer, to be the ambassadors of this message from God to the people who haven’t heard it yet. Yes?

So then why do I live like God has a plan B beyond His church? This Gospel and this Commission exist. I exist and the lost exist. Why is that? It hit me this week reading Radical. The unreached are the result of the Church’s great neglect. I’m sure we can all agree that is a tragic truth, and kind of a startling one. I share it because it startled me this week.

These are the things bouncing around in my head here. Honestly, those thoughts have been bouncing around for a while. Now it’s finally sinking in that those thoughts have to produce action for it to actually be obedience. It sobered me up a little bit more as I sat in class looking at these pictures and numbers.

I’ll share this verse with you before I sign off for the week.

John 4:35b-36 & 38. “Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the sower and reaper may rejoice together…I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

One thing has been made abundantly clear to me: God has more for my life than nominal, comfortable Christianity. I need to lift up my eyes. I need to lift my hands in surrender to His will and take steps of faith towards the lost. God will honor it. We are His plan to reach the world.

I haven’t spent time detailing the outreaches from last week or sharing any special stories, and I hope that’s okay with you all. Those stories excite me too, but it all starts here - with WAKING UP to what God requires of me in light of the marvelous, beautiful, life-changing Gospel. We have nothing but surrender and obedience to a radical God, and the beauty is that is all we need.

Thank you for taking the time to step into my head for a minute and to hear what God is doing. Honestly, this is a testimony of His hand wordlessly stirring my soul and I invite you to be stirred up as well!
