He Went to Church Looking to Kill, but Left With Jesus!

Adam Fulmizi 2021 CSOM Student Update 3

Meet Pastor Eddie. Years ago Eddie walked into a church service at Calvary Chapel Rosarito with a gun and a plan to murder a man who had wronged him. Eddie had been to prison multiple times and made a name for himself on the streets selling drugs. As he sat in the service waiting eagerly until after to shoot his victim, he heard the pastor give the gospel and an invitation to receive Christ. Eddie got out of his seat and came to the front of the room to be prayed over and that same night shared with his wife the amazing peace God had given him through the gospel. Today, Eddie and his family run Calvary Chapel HomeX which was planted a few months ago!

He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay,

And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.

Psalm 40:2

Our very first outreach in Mexico was to a dump very close to CC HomeX. While we were there I was part of a group of three that shared the gospel with a man named Fernando. Limping on crutches he led us to his house that was made with old blankets and cardboard. Many people in the community live like this and struggle with alcoholism and all kinds of abuse and addiction. I walked away from our conversation without much hope that he would go to church, but to my surprise he went the next two Sundays! It was such a joy to see him and other friends from the dump at church when we visited HomeX!

Through both of these stories the Lord has been teaching me the truth behind 1 Corinthians 1:27, “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” Never assume that God cannot save or use someone!
