Dying of Thirst

“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God...

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NKJV

Hello beloved, I pray this newsletter finds you in the grace and peace of God.

Thank you for your prayers and partnership, our team has safely returned to the US from our vision tour to Indonesia.

This is the report -

- Filling the airports, the streets, the hotels, the stores, the restaurants, the coffee shops, homes and in almost every space were idols. Statues of dead gods, spirits, shrines and temples were EVERYWHERE. Our driver even had an altar on his dashboard for daily offerings…but this was to be expected on what is called “the island of the gods.” But the saddest and ironic part is, not a single one of these “gods” were actually God…

The Apostle Paul speaking - “Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. - I Corinthians‬ ‭8‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

These idols cannot see the people, hear their prayers, move on their behalf, meet their greatest needs, satisfy, or save their souls… Spiritually speaking, this was a desert full of broken cisterns that held no water, with a people who were desperate for the Fountain of Living Water. - Jesus Christ

God really blessed our trip with connections and open doors. Our team stayed a week on the island, and we were able to visit with multiple ministries and Christian leaders from all over the island. These meetings allowed us to gain insight into what God is already doing and how we can get involved.

We visited with a Christian community that was formerly a Hindu village, they originally tried stoning the first christians who came to them…But, through God’s grace they are now a church.

Another church we visited began with a single convert who was martyred and after many years, it has now become a beautiful church in the mountains.

We also visited with several other ministries, including an orphanage as well as a rehabilitation ministry, serving people recovering from alcohol addiction, drug addiction, as well as women and children who have survived human trafficking. This ministry helps people rebuild their lives and helps people come to know Christ.

Our time in Indonesia was very fruitful, and we were able to make many valuable connections. It was so awesome to see how God is moving on this island, but the need for gospel workers is still great, as the entire population of the island is less than 2% evangelical christian. We as a group also sensed a great need for Bible teachers and discipleship amongst the national ministries we visited as well.

In closing, I do sense the Lord calling me to return to the island. In my return, I would spend the time learning the language, the culture, and what ministry looks like through partnership with a national ministry. I am praying and planning to do this in June of 2027. If it is Gods will, the long-term goal is to be a part of a church planting team, because the reality of it is, is that Jesus has called us to make disciples and the best way to make disciples is by planting churches. The world is dying of a thirst for God, and God has called us His Church to herald His Gospel of eternal life to the ends of the earth:

“And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV
