Stepping Out in Faith
David and I have fallen in love with Loreto, Mexico, and its beautiful people for nearly five years now. We have been serving as missionaries at Calvary Chapel Loreto. We always said we would stay there until the Lord called us home—or until the Holy Spirit directed our path elsewhere.
Over the past year, the Lord has been stirring our hearts to step out in faith and plant a new church in San Felipe, Mexico. This decision has not been taken lightly. We have spent much time in prayer and sought godly counsel from others.
We believe the Holy Spirit has confirmed that this is the direction He is leading us to step out in faith with David serving as the Lead English Pastor and Miguel as the Lead Spanish Pastor. We’re humbled and excited to follow where He guides, trusting that His plans are always good and perfect.
Miguel’s wife, Berenice, and their daughter, Katalaya, are also faithfully answering God’s call on their lives. We will be joined on this amazing God-led journey with a missionary family from Loreto—Lalo and his wife Hannia, along with their children—as we begin this new journey together.

“The Team Called to Go!”
In September, our team took a vision trip to San Felipe to pray over the land and seek the Lord’s direction. It was a powerful time in His Word, filled with prayer and unity. By the end of the trip, we all had peace and confirmation that this was indeed God’s plan.
We are stepping forward in obedience to the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
We will be heading to San Felipe in February 2026 to officially launch Calvary Chapel San Felipe. Our calling is to share the gospel message of salvation, lead people to Christ, make disciples, and be a church that sends out other churches. Pastor Elmer and Calvary Loreto will hold a sending weekend in January, praying over us and sending us out as their church plant. Please keep our entire team in prayer as we prepare for this new season.
We met this amazing, godly couple over four years ago and instantly knew God would unite our lives together. Since joining Calvary Loreto, they have faithfully served as leaders in many ministries—Children’s Ministry, Prayer Corners, Ushers, and most recently, the New Believers’ Class. They also completed two years of church planting classes under Pastor Elmer’s leadership.
Now, they are stepping out in faith and leaving behind jobs, schools, family, and friends to obey God’s call. Their faith and obedience are an inspiration to us. Please keep them in your prayers, and if the Lord puts it on your heart, please consider supporting them financially as they take this bold step of faith.
Lalo and Hannia are more than fellow believers—they are our spiritual children. We have been discipling them for nearly five years, walking alongside them through both blessings and trials. Their faith in Jesus has remained strong through it all. They bring a variety of gifts and talents to come alongside us in ministry, encouraging and lifting others up in the name of Jesus.
They have never lived away from their families in Loreto, yet they are choosing to step out in faith and follow God’s calling to San Felipe. Please pray for this couple and their three young children as they make this transition. If you feel led, consider partnering with them financially as they follow Jesus into this new path for their family.
Every healthy church needs a strong Children’s Ministry, so we are bringing our own! We have watched these four amazing children grow up in the church and they represent the future generation.
Please keep Amberly, Katalaya, Sheila, and Jesús in your prayers as they adjust to new schools and surroundings. We can’t wait to see how the Lord works through their lives!
Our Vision
Together, we are stepping out in faith to plant Calvary Chapel San Felipe—a bilingual, and multicultural verse-by-verse teaching church committed to making disciples and teaching the full counsel of God from Genesis to Revelation as one united team.
We hold onto the promise of Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Please pray for our team’s protection, unity, and provision as we leave a place of comfort to follow God’s call.
Prayer Petitions
Prayer is the most important thing we can do. David and I faithfully pray not only for those around us but also for you—our friends, supporters, and family in Christ. If you ever have specific prayer requests, please let us know. It would be our honor to pray for you.
Our specific prayer requests:
#1 Pray that we can secure a way to move 3 families 500 miles in an affordable way.
#2 Pray that God will open the door to the perfect rental building in the place He desires for Calvary Chapel San Felipe- a place where we can so share the Gospel and reflect God’s love.
#3 Pray for wisdom and discernment for the new church plant in San Felipe, México.
#4 Pray for this team to always put God first in our lives and to be united as one body for Christ.
#5 Pray for partners that want to help financially to be part of what God has planned for Calvary Chapel San Felipe.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” saith the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
