R Family Update and Prayer Requests
December 2025
But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,
he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness,
but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and
renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through
Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace
we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:4–7
Our Savior “appeared” in history wrapped in swaddling clothes to redeem humanity,
a message divinely woven throughout the Old Testament.
Through the cleansing power of His blood,
we were reconciled back to a right relationship with Him.
Because of the Gospel we are in Christ and Christ is in us.
He entered into our lives that we may proclaim His excellency
to a world in desperate need, that they too, by His abundant grace,
might join us in offering fitting praise to our glorious King, Jesus Christ!
We’re headed back!…
We believe the Lord is calling us to return to mentor the Middle East team in January 2026 for a few months to help impart some fresh new vision and walk alongside them advising and, Lord willing, encouraging as they navigate their new exciting season to move into the next phase toward a future church plant. We were impressed with every one of them! They are all learning the language and the culture and building local friendships. Our desire is to help them come to a shared understanding of their individual roles within a unified team going forward.
In the meantime, we are also preparing to move long-term to work in another region with an unreached people in the Middle East, to help train MBB’s (Muslim Background Believers) from the underground church who are able to travel to our location from surrounding closed Muslim countries.
By God’s grace, we hope to teach and disciple these young brothers and sisters by laying a solid biblical foundation. We hope to empower them to learn to search the scriptures for answers as they grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We also desire to train and equip them how to make Him known as they return back to their closed countries!
This is an incredible privilege, as it is like working with the developing New Testament church! We have been discipling and mentoring one of the underground churches in these closed countries through several hard questions!
By way of example, this is just one of scenarios we helped walk our MBB’s through:
They explained to us that in Islam, Muslims are allowed to marry up to four wives…One man had married two wives. He and his second wife recently began following Christ. They inquired whose wife was his and whether or not it was OK to divorce….
We soberly discipled them through this hard question and walked them through seeing the Word of God as our authority. Together we searched the scriptures to see how the Word of God answered this dilemma. We praise God for their receptivity to biblical counsel!
Geographically, living in the Middle East strategically allows us also to be more accessible to mentor other young missionaries and teams that have already been sent out to various parts of Asia as well as in the Middle East!
This is a sobering and exciting new season for us as “empty nesters;” yet our hearts are still working through ministering separately from our sons who have accompanied us and served with us all these years until now.
Please pray:
• Our 3 sons, Clay, Joram, and Ezra, would continue to walk in the fear of God, to walk closely and deeply in love with Him, to grow in dependency upon God and put Him first in their lives and live for His glory alone!
• For a hedge of protection over them from the schemes of the wicked one!
• For clear direction for their paths in the USA (godly friendships & relationships, God-glorifying work, service in the body of Christ, education paths, etc.)
• Anointing for our new ministry
• Wisdom from above in all our exchanges as mentors
• Financial provision
