Cambodia Update: A Busy Month of Fruitfulness & Upcoming Japan Ministry Trip (June 10 – July 28)
Dear Friends and Partners,
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
I’ve been seeing the Great Commission with fresh eyes recently. Jesus gave these final instructions to all His disciples, not just the remaining 11, just before He ascended to heaven. He didn’t say, “Go make passive: “pew-warmers, audience members, fans of famous evangelists, or church spectators. He said, “Make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey."
In other words, He was setting up a disciple-making domino effect in which waves of disciples making disciples have spread the Gospel over the past 2000 years from Jerusalem to the nations in a great relay race that continues to this day with the finish line when Jesus Christ returns. Every believer is a disciple, and the Great Commission is for everyone, and we are all called to be Christ’s ambassadors in our families, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. It is not just the duty of pastors and missionaries. Leaders’ role is to “Equip the saints…” (Ephesians 4:12) and be co-laborers in His Harvest (John 4:35-36). When we pray for more laborers (Matthew 9:35-38), may we all also pray, “Here I am. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)
The picture above is a perfect illustration. This new believer is evangelizing his co-workers in his Philippine dialect. He didn’t wait for pastors or missionaries to do it for him. Other Filipino missionaries and church leaders are discipling him personally, and I have been privileged to provide my evangelistic materials, recommend other resources, and be available to support him in whatever ways I can. However, due to health, schedule, and distance challenges, I can’t go to his workplace Bible study. I am so blessed and encouraged to see how rapidly he is growing in the Lord because he is teaching his co-workers everything as soon as he learns it. Please pray for this brother that he will never lose his “send me” attitude.
As we wrap up an incredibly full month of ministry here in Cambodia (2026 has gotten increasingly intense and fruitful since the beginning of the year), our eyes are turning toward a major upcoming journey. We want to share our schedule with you and ask for your intentional prayer covering over the next two months.
Upcoming Japan Ministry & Family Trip (June 10 – July 28)
From June 10 to July 28, our family will be traveling to Japan for an intensive time of ministry and family connections. Because of our packed schedule, this will likely be our only update until we return to Cambodia in August.
Please join us in praying for:
16 Churches: We will be speaking and giving mission reports at 16 different churches across Japan, including one international English-speaking congregation. Please pray for many things, including: physical stamina, health, clear communication, and that the messages encourage and empower each church and member to be laborers in all their harvest fields: in the building, in their homes, in their workplaces and communities, and around the world through missions.
Family & The Gospel: We will be visiting Kayo’s non-Christian parents. This is a particularly significant trip as it will be Benjamin’s last time visiting Japan before reaching adulthood, and we don't know when he will be able to see his grandparents again. Please pray for meaningful family time and for clear, natural opportunities to live out and share the Gospel with them.

May Ministry Highlights from Cambodia
Before we depart, we want to celebrate how God moved through our ministries throughout May:
Pentecost Sunday Baptisms & Discipleship: Darryl had the privilege of baptizing two men on Pentecost Sunday. One was the man from India (mentioned in previous updates) whose salvation and baptism we celebrate as Darryl continues ongoing discipleship with him.
The second was a Cambodian brother who travels two hours each way just to attend church! He had delayed baptism for years due to pressure he felt at a previous church but knew now was the right time. He requested Darryl’s Reasons for Faith book, evangelistic booklet, and teaching videos in Khmer to deepen his faith and boldly witness to his family. Darryl also helped connect him with a missionary from the Philippines and his team; the missionary needs his help for his mission work, and this young man will benefit greatly from the additional discipleship, encouragement, and connection.
Marriage & Premarital Counseling: Pastoral care was a major focus this month. Together, Darryl and Kayo teamed up to provide premarital counseling and practical guidance to two international couples. Darryl also spent time following up with church members navigating marital challenges. Please pray for all these complex circumstances, asking that God will make His perfect path abundantly clear to all these couples and bring healing in ways that on He can bring.

Kayo’s Women’s Ministry: Kayo had an exceptionally busy month leading and coordinating more activities than I can keep track of:
Completed a 10-session Bible study through the Gospel of John.
Organized and taught at the monthly Friday night women's Bible study, potluck, and activity night.
Handed off leadership of the women's ministry to the recently arrived interim pastor’s wife and the team to cover the time she is in Japan.
Managed various fundraising activities and provided deep pastoral counseling for many women dealing with serious health crises and personal issues.

Precious Women Organization: Kayo also continued serving as a board member, teaching the Bible, and mentoring the staff at Precious Women Organization—an organization dedicated to evangelizing and retraining Cambodian women transitioning out of the nightlife industry.
Home Care Group Support & Leadership: Darryl visited a home care group that has been utilizing his April 2025 apologetics sermon outline as a guide to equip themselves on how to explain their faith to seekers and their children who may have doubts about the truth of Christianity (such as the existence of God, Creation, the reliability of Scripture, and the Resurrection). He provided them with Christianity: Reasons for Faith and his 25-year-old evangelistic booklet. For the other eight home care groups, he assisted with curriculum, encouraged the leaders, and served as a cultural and relational bridge between the nine group leaders (from several different nations) and the new interim Pastor from the USA.
Men’s Ministry: On May 29, Darryl spoke at the Men’s Ministry gathering and has also been putting logistical and leadership delegations in place to ensure the ministry runs smoothly while he is away this summer.
Providential Plumbing Problem: God brought immense meaning out of a household headache. A major water leak forced us to call a local Christian handyman. Darryl’s conversation with him in Khmer revealed that his home church is currently battling cults that deny essential Christian doctrines, like Christ’s divinity and the resurrection. Remarkably, this was the exact topic of Darryl’s very first book written years ago, while he was in Japan for a few months while Kayo was having Benjamin. Darryl was able to equip him with (Cambodian language) Discerning Essential Doctrines, Reasons for Faith, his Cambodian evangelistic booklet, and over 100 Khmer-language (apologetics/counter-cult/evangelistic) videos to help protect and strengthen that brother and his congregation.
Literature & Translation Updates: Darryl shared his evangelistic booklet with the international church’s Chinese pastor, and they are exploring a potential translation in Chinese. Darryl is also exploring how to use AI tools to upgrade the graphics and accelerate future translations into other languages in addition to the previous translations in Cambodian, Spanish, and Japanese. This may finally open the door to Darryl’s long dormant vision of providing free evangelistic resources in many languages by using AI for the rough draft translation but then having Christian native speakers of each language check for accuracy and improve the quality.
Thank you for standing with our family in prayer and financial support. Please join us in praying and trusting God to make a way where there seems to be no way to meet some major financial needs (some expected, some unexpected, all unavoidable) related to trips to the USA and Benjamin’s education most are due between now and the end of 2026 some by mid-2027. God has always provided everything we need in surprising ways to make it possible for us to do everything He wants us to do.
Please continue praying for God’s direction and provision for Benjamin’s future. He has answered some prayers already and we praise and trust Him for the future.
We look forward to sharing all that God does in Japan when we return in August!
In Christ’s Nail-Pierced Hands,
Darryl, Kayo, and Benjamin
