Learning, Serving, and Reaching

We are officially half way through Calvary Chapel School of Missions. This week was packed with information and outreaches. The Lord has continued to move and work through our team.

This week we had the pleasure to welcome Pastor Rob Douglass into the classroom. Pastor Rob is Pastor Trent’s brother, and it was fun witnessing their fellowship. Pastor Rob has been a missionary all over the world including many unreached tribes. Our classes with Rob were so eye-opening and engaging. Rob shared his experience on the mission field in unreached tribes. His classes were so rich with information and stories. Rob shared with us the four seasons of the missionary journey and how each season builds off of each other and it is important. Rob gave an important encouragement about how there are going to be trials on the mission field but everyone struggles. It is normal and God will work all things for good for His glory.

Wednesday afternoon, we were blessed with having Branden and Nancy come encourage us. They are serving in the Middle East and are currently on furlough. They took the time to drive all the way to encourage us for an hour and a half. It was so special to hear about their work in the Middle East. Branden and Nancy continued to encourage us about the importance of team unity, counting the cost, sufficiency in Christ, and serving those who are serving alongside you on the mission field. These are all so vital for success on the mission field.

This week we read the book The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer. What a book full of powerful truths! Tozer wrote about how God has called us to actively seek Him every day. Christianity is not just believing truths, it is walking in intimate fellowship with God. I pray that we as Christians would not be content with just “knowing” about God, but that we would seek to intentionally know Him personally, intimately, and deeply.

We had a special outreach at the beach on Friday. As a team, we set up tents on the beach and went out to invite people to our tents. It was a beautiful day, and the weather was gorgeous. It was so encouraging to see the amount of people that were at the tent. As we were evangelizing on the beach, we noticed a man walking down the beach dragging a life sized cross down the beach. We approached the man and it was so encouraging to hear that he too was witnessing on the beach. My group and him were able to have a conversation with a elderly gentleman on the beach selling beach toys. He was willing to pause his work and discuss with us salvation. At the end of the hour conversation, he accepted Christ. He would appreciate your prayers as he starts his new journey as a child of God!

We ended the week with a sweet church service at Calvary Chapel Santa Cruz. We shared a meal with the leaders from the church and watched the World Cup soccer game. It was so fun to fellowship with everyone, despite the language barrier.

The Lord is continuing to work and move in mighty ways. I would love prayer as this is our last week in Rosarito before we move to the next part of our trip. These next parts are going to be so amazing but also challenging. We are going to be going to an unreached tribe in the heart of Mexico. Please pray for health, and protection as we begin getting ready to leave. Thank you again for your prayers and encouragement.
