Seeing God’s Faithfulness
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
Each day brings new reminders of God’s faithfulness. We are grateful for your continued prayers and partnership, and we are happy to share with you some of the ways we have seen the Lord at work.
You may recall that in our previous update, we mentioned one of the families we have been working with. Last year, Kalyan started a job in our city as a watchman/maintenance guy at an apartment complex. As part of his salary, he was given a small room that he and his family moved into. The family was thankful for this opportunity - it was a much welcome change from their long days working under the sun in the fields near their village, where Rohith first met them over three years ago. Kalyan worked hard at the apartments, starting his day at 4am and helping the apartment owners late into the night, sometimes even past midnight. Since the owners are mostly Hindu, during the festivals Kalyan was required to help set up the idols and be available during the worship ceremonies. The owners would pressure him and his wife to participate and take the food that was offered to these idols and when they refused there would be rude comments and insults. The owners would not let them take days off and leave the apartments, and told them they could not have Bible study in their small home.
In September, after months of feeling this pressure and harassment, Kalyan and his wife Mannasa, took the bold step to quit the job and move their family to a small house within the city. With the money saved, they purchased a Rickshaw/Taxi, and Kalyan has now become an independent driver. Mannasa is a very hard working and skilled woman and feeling motivated, she has now been dedicating her time to sewing and tailoring women’s clothing. We spent time with them in their new home, prayed for them, and encouraged them in this new season. We are really happy and excited for them, and we are grateful for this newfound freedom and the flexibility they now have which allows them to come to our home for Bible study. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!

In the beginning…
We recently hosted a few young men who are interested in learning more about the Bible. During one of the recent holidays, we invited them over to our home and Rohith started teaching Genesis with them, telling them about the beginning. The work schedules here in our country are pretty demanding; most people work 8-10 hours per day and often get one to two days off per month. Since most of these guys work or go to school, the holiday was a perfect opportunity to gather them. We are hoping to be able to have them over at least once a month, as their schedule allows. These opportunities are answered prayers for us! We desire to see men and women come to a saving knowledge and to be discipled and grow in their faith and tell others about Jesus. Pray with us, that we could continue to meet with this group and for more men and women to have a desire to grow in God’s Word.

Thank you for your prayers for Pranith, who we introduced to you in our last update. To refresh your memory, he is a friend of Ravi (who Rohith is discipling), and who Rohith had a conversation with on the city bus, not knowing it was him. In the last month, Pranith has joined us in the mornings at the local university a handful of times. We walk and then Rohith, Ravi, and Pranith play Badminton at the courts. Our hope is to get to know him, grow in friendship with him, and love him with the love of Jesus. Continue to pray that this young mans heart would soften and be ripe for the Gospel.

A new open door
In November, I have a great opportunity to begin meeting with the wife of Abhi, the young man who Rohith has been discipling and teaching the Bible to in our home. This young woman has a great desire to know the Word of God and to grow in her faith. I am excited for this beautiful open door with my sister in Christ, and I look forward to our fellowship and times together. Please pray for wisdom and the Lord’s leading in every step of this new open door.
Prayer Requests:
For us to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus, to have His heart for this nation.
For the walks of those we are working with - may they grow strong.
For more opportunities for evangelism and discipleship and for those we are discipling to catch this vision.
For the men learning Genesis - that their schedules would open up.
For the young lady Michelle will be discipling and their time together.
For growth in language learning.
