How to Worship God

Adam Fulmizi 2021 CSOM Student Update 6
One of many opportunities the Lord gave to lead in praise while in Mexico

“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name,

for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things,

things planned long ago.”

Isaiah 25:1

Long before I ever decided to come to Mexico the Lord knew that He was going to lead me here as a School of Missions student. Oftentimes as God reveals His will for our lives, we only see one step of faith at a time. For me, this six week step of faith has been a tremendous time of growth and experience in the Lord. If you are reading this, thank you. Thank you for your love and support in the gospel and in this foundational time for me as The Lord leads and establishes His perfect will through my life.

My time here gave me constant opportunity to worship and surrender to the Lord. Remember that worship doesn’t always mean singing (although it can). Worship is anything we do in our lives with a heart that wants to glorify God. Whether it was cleaning a church’s bathroom or leading an outreach by singing a Spanish worship song, The Lord provided multiple ways for me to worship Him here. Not everything on this trip was easy, I have faced physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges, but God gave opportunity to surrender in worship to Him through it all.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Romans 12:1

The Lord has taught me from our classes, personal reading, and outreach experience and has drawn me closer to Him and His purpose. If you have been following my updates you may already know that my biggest take away from this time has been the importance and commission of church planting. Through churches we fulfill the great commission to, “make disciples of all the nations.” This is not a mission for special “Elite Christians”, this is our purpose and ambition as followers of God and His word.

Leading worship at an outreach

Brothers and sisters, remember that God wants every aspect of our lives to be an act of worship to Him. Let us commit everything we do to Him in such a way. Every hour worked at a job, every moment spent in a classroom, every minute spent providing for and loving family, each second studying His word or praising His name through song, commit it to Him. May we strive more and more each day in offering every last thought and action to bring glory and praise to His name.

“Our Lord came not to destroy but to save. Everything is safe which we commit to Him, and nothing is really safe which is not so committed.”

A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God

Going into the School of Missions I knew it would be a transitional time in my life. As I move this summer away from being a college student and unto whatever the Lord will have me walk in next, it has been a refreshing time to reset my mind and life on Him. As the Lord guided me and opened the doors to come here in unexpected ways, I have confidence He will do the same going forward. Please pray for me as I consider the next steps to take in life and ministry. Thank you again for your love and support. Toda la gloria a Dios (all glory to God).
