You Want to Know a Secret?
This was the question I asked Enrique, a man I met during an evangelistic outreach. Our team set up a tent on a beach in Rosarito, Mexico where we offered balloon animals, face painting, and other fun activities. We use the tent as a bridge to connect with the people around us. Enrique brought his children to the tent and while his children enjoyed the fun, I approached him and began to converse with him. Enrique didn’t speak any English and I know like three words in Spanish, but praise God I had my teammate Tori, who translated my English into Spanish and his Spanish into English. He was very kind and open, which allowed me to take our conversation from the natural to the spiritual.
“I always like to ask people if you died today, where do you think you would you go?”
Enrique took a moment and said:
“I hope heaven, I have done many good things and I don’t think I am a bad person.”
To which I responded:
“When we compare ourselves to other humans there will always be someone we may be “better than" according to human standards. But God requires total perfection, because He is perfect, and in heaven, there is no sin. So if you have even one sin, God will not allow you to enter. So if what I am saying is true, would you go to heaven, according to God’s standard?”
Enrique grew quiet and I could see sorrow began to come over him as he recalled his former life. He began to explain how he once lived a very bad life and had made many, many, many mistakes and he told me how he was doing his best to live for God. It broke my heart to see how close Enrique was to the truth, he was trying to repent (turn away from his sin) to be made right with God. But it isn’t good works that make us accepted before God. Enrique was missing a piece of the story, and I believe God ordained our meeting that he would know the whole truth.
“Enrique, we have all done evil things, and because God is good and just He must judge our sin and the price for our sin is death and eternal judgement…
But you want to know a secret?
I know that when I die, despite the evil things I have done, I will be accepted into heaven. Why? Because Jesus The Perfect One has taken my place on the cross receiving the judgement I deserved, and by faith His perfection was given to me. Which will allow me and all who trust in Him as Lord and Savior to enter into heaven.”
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
He thought what I said was beautiful, which allowed me to go deeper into the fullness of Who Jesus is. How He is The One who has come and conquered death. How He wasn’t only human, but He was, is, and will always be the eternal, infinite Creator of all things. Because of His great love, He stepped into His own creation to deliver us from fear, shame, and guilt. He was born to overcome the evil within our hearts, give eternal life, and destroy death forever through His death, burial, and resurrection.
It was awesome, and Enrique ended up turning from trusting in himself and placing his faith in Jesus Christ.
Praise God!
This shouldn’t be a secret, but sadly, for many, it is. The purpose of my ministry as a missionary is to unveil the unknown God to those who don’t know Him and carry this message of eternal life and peace with God to the ends of the earth.
Jesus speaking:
“ And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
John 17:3 NKJV

I write this update from Rosarito Mexico, where I am currently serving my second summer as a leader in the Calvary School of Missions - Mexico. It is an introductory six-week missions training school. We spend our time in fellowship, prayer, worship and living in the Word of God. Beholding His heart for the lost and unreached. We study the theology of missions, church planting, culture, outreach/evangelism execution and so much more. Through the witness of the Scriptures we answer this question:
“What is the purpose of the Church?”
The purpose of the church’s existence on the earth is for the evangelization and discipleship of all people!
Matthew 28:18-20
Mark 16:15
Luke 24:47
John 20:21
Acts 1:8
We have two weeks remaining here in Mexico and it has been awesome watching God move among us. He has been stirring and awakening the hearts of the students for the great commission. Please keep us in your prayers as we will be traveling into a deeper part of Mexico to help with a VBS and work with an indigenous tribe. It is going to be glorious!
VISION TOUR: INDONESIA
I’m very excited to announce that I will be going to Bali, Indonesia to do a vision tour with a small team. We are going to see if God will allow us to go and begin a long-term work in this country. I will share more details in my next update.
