Becoming All Things
To the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1 Corinthians 9:22
Becoming a…Muslim?
Hello Beloved, I pray this newsletter finds you in The Love of God and The Peace of God.
The picture above is an answered prayer. It is me and my Muslim friend R exchanging, a Qur’an for a Bible.
My time in California was coming to an end, and I was preparing to move back to Washington; to save money and prepare for my 10-month mission trip in the Philippines. I gathered my things and began saying my goodbyes. One of my last farewells was between me and R. R is a Muslim that I had befriended months ago and was developing a relationship with. My heart was to be a witness of Christ in his life and reveal to R, the true identity of the Messiah, not as Islam portrays Him. In response to Islam, Jesus is more than the son of Mary, a good teacher, a prophet…but He is The One Way of Salvation, The Son of God and The One True God. For months R and I, would go back and forth sharing scriptures from our holy books, respectfully rejecting where we disagreed. Were there moments where I didn’t have answers to his objections? Absolutely! But it would cause me to study harder, and it grew my faith because the more I searched the more I found; that the Word of God, the Bible…is The Truth. It is perfect, prophetic and eternal and tears down every high argument against it! Christian reading this, be not afraid to share your faith and stand on The Word of God, for it and your Lord are the Truth! Even though I would bring truth to R, or point out
inconsistencies in his arguments, he would deflect or deny. So, I would shift our time from debate to genuine friendship and show him Gods love. Our final meeting began at an Islamic Worship Center; he invited me to show me where he worshipped. I went, observed and became. Did I agree with what I saw, or they believed? No. But I wanted to step in to R’s world to know how to reach him. That is exactly what Paul is writing about in the passage above and what our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ did. Does this mean go and pretend practice Islam to reach Muslims? No. But learn about the people you are trying to minister to, so you know the most effective way to present the Gospel. After being shown around and greeting other Muslims, R and I left and shared one last meal together. We discussed the atonement of Christ and talked about our up bringing’s. Knowing this may be the last time I seen him I brought a bible with me, that I had in my car. On the way to meet him I prayed to The Lord for an opportunity to give it to him. As we were finishing our meal, R asked if he could give me a Qur’an, that he had for me in his car. LOL
I said” Absolutely! As long as I can give you the Bible that is in mine.” we exchanged, said are goodbyes and parted ways.
I do keep in contact with R over text and have connected him with another Christian brother who lives in the area. Please join me in praying for R’s salvation. At one of our meetings R asked me “If Islam was true would you become a Muslim?” I responded, “If it was the truth, yes.” I in return asked R “If Christianity was the truth would you become a Christian? ‘R paused, thought for a moment and responded with “Yes.”
I do believe he is so close to The Truth and in time The Spirit will bring R to Jesus.
Christian reading this, remember you carry the words of eternal life…share them and Him with this lost and dying world. Jesus is The One everyone is searching for.
The Call to Asia:
Reaching the Unreached
from the Philippines
The Lord has opened the doors for Saving Grace World Missions to open a School of Missions in The Philippines. Partnering with a Calvary Bible Insitute in the city of Tagaytay, Philippines. The Leadership of SGWM has prayed and chosen a small team to go to the Philippines and start this new work. I have been chosen to be a part of that team. The team and I will be moving in January to the Philippines for 10 months! This is an awesome move of God. The Philippines is an open and reached country on the edge of the 10/40 window, where most of the unreached live, giving us greater access to the people there.
SGWM with Pastor Tony from the Philippines: Lani, Macey and I will be the missionaries on the ground working with him!
The Vision
The Philippines is an open country on the edge of the 10/40 window and our heart is to train Southeast Asia Christians with a heart for missions and church planting to reach the unreached.
Filipino Christians are culturally going all over the world already, especially closed Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Our hope is to equip them and give them a vision for missions and cross-cultural church planting.
We are all commanded to be a part of the Great Commission and make disciples of all nations; and church planting is the most effective way to do it. We want the world to know Him and to give all people the chance to receive forgiveness for their sins and eternal life.
