We’ve made a GREAT DECISION!

By Hugo Limon, Senior Pastor at Calvary Culiacan Norte

We thank God so much for your life, because you have been a great blessing to Mexico partnering with us in His work. Working together has been great and we clearly see the hand of God in it. Thank you for your support in prayer and finances. Without a doubt, the Lord will reward you for everything He has done here in Mexico!

We want to share with you great news that will lead us to advance in God’s plan to fulfill the great commission in Mexico and in the world!

Calvary Culiacan’s pastors

As you know, God has called us to plant churches with the goal of making disciples in all nations. We have been doing this for 8 years in Culiacan, Mexico. The initial vision was to plant 4 churches in the North, South, East, and West of the city. This vision has already been fulfilled much further as God has led us to plant 10 churches which are growing and prospering. The big question is, “what’s next?”. The vision has grown to plant churches in Mexico and the world, and the decision we have just made will take us there!

For almost 3 years, we have been praying and asking for advice about the possibility of taking the leadership of a church in Mexico that God has used in a great way. After applying proverbs 11:14 (in the multitude of counselors there is safety) and praying seeking the face of God, we want to confirm that we are taking this great step of faith that will undoubtedly be a great challenge and at the same time a great opportunity to advance in God’s plan.

The church we will be leading is Horizonte Ensenada. For many years, I have developed a deep friendship with Pastor Juan Domingo; we have prayed together for this beloved church in Mexico. The proposal is to be the senior pastor of the Horizonte Ensenada church, to lead the church in the Word of God, in the Calvary Chapel vision, and in planting churches. In addition, I will take the leadership of the bible institute along with the great team of directors and staff that we have.

Teaching at Horizonte Ensenada

Another important point is that I will not leave the leadership of the churches in Culiacan. We will move to live in Ensenada, but I will continue to travel once a month to Culiacan to host our monthly meeting with the pastors and church planters and to teach at the Sunday services. I will continue to foster churches and we will continue to plant more through our Church Planting School. All the church plants, including Calvary Culiacan Norte (the church I have been directly pastoring), are ready for this step. Each church has its team of pastors trained and ready to move forward in the vision.

We know the challenge that this represents, but we clearly see the hand of God in it. Pastor Juan and his wife Tania have been very loving and attentive, trusting that God will work through my wife and me.

I was in Horizonte a few days ago. I taught at the two Sunday services and I met the great group of faithful servants who gave me a wonderful welcome and are very willing and expectant for what is to come. I thank God very much for Pastor Juan Domingo and all the staff of Horizonte. I understand that this is a step of faith for them. It encourages me a lot to see the great potential that exists in this beloved church that has the desire to serve God with all its heart. I am also very grateful for the team of pastors and church planters in Culiacan. They are undoubtedly servants of God who are committed to His work. It has been great to see them grow and advance in God’s plan.

Enjoying fellowship at Horizonte Ensenada

The plan is the following: On November 1st, in the meeting with all the staff of Horizonte, I will be taking the leadership of the church, but it will not be until the first Sunday of January that it will be made official to the entire church. It will be done this way to carry out a smooth transition and that the church does not feel the change very strongly. I will be moving to Ensenada from this day on and will be traveling to Culiacan frequently. My wife and children will remain in Culiacan until mid-December so Joy can finish her ballet school and then they will move to Ensenada.
BECAUSE OF THIS I ASK YOU PLEASE NOT TO SHARE THIS NEWS YET.

Please help us to pray fervently about this:
• For the churches and pastors of Culiacan, especially Calvary Culiacan Norte. For this change and for them to continue working, fulfilling the great commission and planting churches
• For the Calvary Horizonte Ensenada church and all the staff, for this transition, for them to adapt to change and for a genuine revival that shows hunger for His Spirit and His word
• For Pastor Juan and his wife Tania, may God give them times of refreshing and strengthen their health
• For our family, especially for Brenda and our children Joy and Judá, may they adapt to the change and God give them new friends, it has not been easy for them, especially for Joy, but she is willing to do it for God.
• For a house to live in Ensenada, house rents are very high, but we know that God will provide
• For our finances needed for this change

Thank you very much! If you have any questions you can call me or send me a message.

Blessings from Mexico,

Pastor Hugo, Brenda, Joy, and Judá Limón

CHURCH PLANTS #9 AND #10, READY TO BE SENT!

By Hugo Limón, Senior Pastor at Calvary Culiacán Norte

Church Plant #9 – Calvary Santa Fe Culiacán Core Team
Church Plant #10 – Calvary Gracia y Verdad core team

God has been abundantly good. I remember when Pastor Mike Vincent and I came to Culiacan to pray for the city and ask God what he wanted to do in this beautiful city of a million inhabitants with so much need for churches that taught verse by verse all the counsel of God.

Pastor Hugo praying over the big city of Culiacán in 2015

I could clearly understand the vision that God was showing us: in order to reach this great city, 4 churches were needed in each cardinal point, in the North, South, East, and West. At that moment the vision really scared me, how were we going to do it? But I was sure that God would do it.

That’s how we started and from the first day we started the first church I clearly communicated to all the people that we would be a church that would plant churches. Soon I realized that the vision that I had understood from God was really just part of the master plan that God had in mind for the city. I am sure that at that moment God did not show me more because I would have lacked faith to believe it. Now, I see it more clearly. We are about to send our church plants numbers 9 and 10! The seed is planted and bearing a lot of fruit, so, without a doubt, more church plants will be sent in the coming years since it is no longer a single church that is planting churches, but the churches that are being planted are in turn planting more churches. They have the vision in their hearts and this results in a great harvest for the Lord.

Sending church planting teams from Calvary Chapel Rosarito

In addition, we are already working on 2 more church planting projects for next year. One of them in particular gives me great joy because it is a church that will be planted by a church that was planted by another church that was planted by our church! That is, Pastor Trent Douglass sent my pastor Mike Vincent, Pastor Mike sent us, we sent Pastor Valerio, Pastor Valerio sent Pastor Antonio, and Pastor Antonio will be sending this new church next year, Glory to God!

I also want to share with you that I am full of joy because I just returned from Peru. I went to serve in the Missions Conferences at Calvary Trujillo with my pastor friend Cory Kilgus. It was a great blessing to see that God used my life to encourage and train many churches in many countries in the vision of church planting. I was teaching at the conference alongside pastors Mike Vincent, Trent Douglass, Luis Sánchez, Cory Kilgus, Don McClure, Lloyd Pulley, and Wade O’Neill. Additionally, I taught on Sunday at Calvary Trujillo and we sent the future Calvary Moyobamba church planting team to the jungle of Peru, and finally, I taught at a church planting seminar at CBI Peru. What a great group of students passionate about serving the Lord in all nations.

I want to thank you who are reading this letter for all your support in prayer and finances; we really consider you a very important part of our team and together we are serving our Lord. All this fruit is yours too because without your help we could not achieve it.

Please continue to pray for our family, for the new church plants, for our finances, for Culiacan, and especially pray for us because we are looking for sponsors for our family, if you want to partner with us, please let us know. Also we are in the process of making an important decision where we believe God is leading us to advance even further in his work and in planting churches throughout Mexico and the world. I will keep you informed of that situation.

With love,

– Pastor Hugo, Brenda, Joy, and Judá Limón

WE STARTED THE YEAR PLANTING OUR CHURCH NUMBER 8!

God has been so good. After planting 7 churches in Culiacan and seeing that each one has been growing and moving forward, this past January we sent our first church plant out of our state, Calvary Conexión México in the state of Tlaxcala, very close to the Mexico City.

This church is being planted by Pastor Bryan de la Cruz and his family. They are doing a great job and they have already started gathering on Sunday and are reaching out to people from the local community.

In February, I had the opportunity to visit them to encourage them and teach the word of God. I always find beginnings exciting. I enjoy seeing how the Lord is building his church through a group of believers committed to the vision of planting churches that reach communities and make disciples in all nations.

Calvary Conexión México has the vision of becoming a sending hub for church planters, first in central Mexico and then throughout Latin America and the world. Please, pray for them.

I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little about a family of church planters who have a great testimony. They are the team of our church plant number 7, Calvary Patria, here in Culiacan, Mexico.

Pastor Juan Carlos and his wife Silvia arrived at Calvary Culiacan North 6 years ago. At that time they were not believers and their marriage was destroyed. They asked for marriage counseling and the Lord restored their marriage in a surprising way. Months later their children also began to congregate in our church and the whole family attended church planting school. During this time, we discovered the great talent for preaching that God had given to Juan Carlos, Silvia, and her daughter Alejandra. They quickly grew spiritually and became the best preachers of our church.

In November of last year, we sent them to plant Calvary Patria in the building where they have a family business and God has blessed them greatly. A few months after they started, they already have a group of 50 constant adults and they continue to grow; glory to God!

At the beginning of February, I had the opportunity to attend the Calvary pastors’ conference in central Mexico. It was a great blessing to have fellowship with great friends and encourage each other.

I also want to share that at the end of February we attended the church planting conference at Calvary Maranatha Mazatlán. I had the honor of teaching the word along with other pastors like Pastor Mike Vincent. It was a great blessing for me and for the more than 50 people of the churches of Culiacan that accompanied us.

This year we have a great challenge ahead of us; the Lord has given us the vision of continuing to expand his kingdom by planting churches in Culiacan, in Mexico, and beyond. In May, I will be traveling to Jordan with Pastor Trent Douglass and a group of pastors on a vision trip so that in the future we can train and send church planters from Mexico to the Middle East! It is a great vision that requires much prayer and support. For this reason I share this with you, to invite you to join in this great mission that will be a great blessing.

Finally, I want to thank you for all your support in prayer, finances, and visits. We are a team that works together for the Lord.

Thank you for continuing to pray for our family, for the church planters, and for the new church plants this year.

Blessings

ENDING 2022 BY TAKING BIG STEPS FORWARD!

God has led us to advance in His plans at the end of the year 2022. We would like to share what He has been doing in our lives.
At the beginning of November, I had the great blessing of traveling to Peru to the Missions Conferences at Calvary Trujillo at the Calvary Bible Institute facilities. Pastor Cory invited me as one of the speakers at this great event to share what God has been doing in Calvary Culiacan with church planting. It was a great time of vision, encouragement and fellowship. God is reviving South America with the vision of planting churches. The hearts of many Calvary pastors from more than 10 countries were ignited to start planting churches intentionally and thus fulfill the Great Commission.

I had the privilege of teaching in the Church Planting School with Pastor Cory. Many students were hungry to know how to walk in this great vision.

Also, I shared in a local church there in Trujillo, Peru in both their Sunday services.

Then we spent a week in Lima. What a great experience, getting to know the city and above all what God is doing there. I was able to teach at Calvary Lima with my new friend, Pastor Manolo Matos, at Grace Calvary Chapel with my great friend, Pastor Lucho, and with the Koinonia Calvary Chapel church planters with my also new friend, Pastor Brian Vander Kodde. I came back shocked to meet so many pastors who are, like us, walking in God´s calling to plant churches.

Once back in Culiacan, we had the visit of our great friends and pastors from Calvary Bear Creek. I have the privilege of walking with them for 6 years planting churches together. It was a great time. Pastor Larry Peterson shared at Calvary North and Pastor Arturo Heras at Calvary Aguaruto.

On November 20th we had our main event of the year. Only on this day in the whole year, all of our church plants gather on Sunday to celebrate the goodness of God over Culiacan. More than 500 adults and 100 children gathered at this great event. The Calvary Culiacan Band led us in worship and Pastor Mike Vincent from Calvary Rosarito taught the word. Without a doubt, a moment that we will never forget.

On Sunday, November 27, we had the inauguration of the 7th church plant, Calvary Patria. I had the honor of teaching the word and seeing how God has prospered this church that has just started, we are so happy about it.

On Saturday, November 26, we traveled to Calvary Rosarito to participate in a very special meeting. It is the first official meeting of church planters with the intention of presenting next year’s projects. Pastor Mike and Pastor Bruce Zachary led the meeting and shared words of encouragement for future planters. There were future church planters from different parts of the country. In our case, we presented 4 projects for next year, 2023. They will be church plants numbers 9, 10, 11, and 12, glory to God! In attendance were the Calvary Culiacan pastors that have these projects alongside the 4 church planters. It was a great time of encouragement and vision.

We presented a map of the city of Culiacan with the 7 current and future church plants for 2023. It is incredible to see how God is flooding the city with His word in a city known for drug trafficking. Who would have thought that God would open the hearts of the people for this great work? In 2015 there was not a single Calvary church here. Now, we can see that God is doing the same as in the days of the Apostle Paul in Asia Minor:

And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. Acts 19:10

At the beginning of December we had a couple of conferences. At Calvary Culiacan North we had a men’s conference with pastors Gerson Hernández and Mario Medrano. Men from all the Calvary churches in Culiacan came to receive the word of God.

Also, at Calvary Los Mochis we had a leadership conference with pastors from different Calvary churches in Mexico and the USA. I had the privilege of sharing about the Leader and His team.

To end in the best way, on December 13 through 15 we traveled to the center of the country, to the state of Tlaxcala, on a vision trip for the future church plant Calvary Connections México. I traveled with my great friends, Pastor Brian de la Cruz and Pastor Pablo Boubion of Calvary Rosarito.

This project is very interesting. It is the first joint church planting between Calvary Culiacan and Calvary Rosarito. We will both be sending Pastor Brian and family in January who will move to the city of Calpulalpan, Tlaxcala to start the project of planting a church, and then the International Church Planting School to send church planters throughout Mexico and the world. The location couldn’t be better, being an hour from the Mexico City airport. In addition, Brian and his family are going to build a house of connections to receive pastors and missionary teams from all over the world. Without a doubt it will be the project that God will use to promote what we clearly see is starting in Mexico, A REVIVAL of the move of God that It is reflected in planting Calvary churches across the country to reach and disciple many.

In this 2022 God surprised us in a great way. We cannot wait to see what He has prepared for 2023! Calvary Culiacan’s plan is to continue reaching many people and shepherding the sheep. We see that all the church plants are growing and progressing, praise God. But also, the plan is to plant the new churches to end 2023 with 12 church plants, among them, a 6th generation, Calvary Casa de Dios in Culiacan. It will be like this: Pastor Trent Douglass sent Pastor Mike, Pastor Mike sent Pastor Hugo, Pastor Hugo sent Pastor Valerio, Pastor Valerio sent Pastor Antonio, and Pastor Antonio will send Pastor Cruz. This is impressive! This is how the kingdom of God is multiplied through planting churches that plant churches.

We have many prayer requests, but I will just share a few so that you can help us by praying please:

– For the pastors and churches of Culiacan, that God may keep our hearts and provide for everything

– For the new church plants, may God open doors for them to advance

– For finances for our family, that God will provide permanent sponsors who have it in their hearts to partner with us to work together in this great work. If you want to be one of them please let us know.

– For more workers for the harvest, as we plant churches, the need for committed and willing servants grows

– For the families and marriages of all church planters.

Thank you for being part of all this! If you are receiving this letter it is because we consider you part of the team that God is using to impact many through Calvary Culiacan.

With much love,

Pastor Hugo, Brenda, Joy, and Judá Limón.

GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD!

Culiacan, Mexico, September 2022

These last weeks have been such a blessing. God has done great things and his work continues to grow in Culiacan and Mexico.

We began the month of August traveling to Rosarito to visit our sending church, Calvary Rosarito. I had the privilege of teaching at the Wednesday service, at the church planting conference, at the Sunday meeting, and sharing a bit in the church planting class on Monday.

The church planting movement continues to grow extensively in Mexico, and we are grateful to God that we are part of it with already 7 churches planted and number 8 in a couple of months, praise God.

At the church planting conference, God encouraged us to continue with this great project that is in His heart. More than 60 people traveled to Rosarito to attend this conference, which has been a great blessing year after year.

Upon returning to Culiacan, we were accompanied by Pastor Trent Douglass and the students from the SGWM School of Missions. They were a great blessing to Culiacan and the churches here. Also, we had our first mission’s conference here in Calvary Culiacan titled Mexico and Beyond. At this conference I had the privilege to teach, and to see how God spoke to many hearts calling them to missions and church planting all over the world.

On the 5th of September we started classes in our church planting school with more than double the number of students compared to last year, almost 100 students in two campuses here in Culiacan. We are very excited about what God will do in this new generation of church planters.

After almost 15 years working in a steel company, God called me to be in the ministry full time. It was a difficult step to take, but each time the call was louder and clearer. So I spoke with my boss and resigned. September 15 was my last day with this company. I know that God provides when you are in His will, and without a doubt we are in it. We will continue to preach the Word verse by verse, reaching the lost, making disciples, planting churches, and training and shepherding church planters. We thank God very much for all those who have been called or will be called to support His work in Culiacan.

Prayer Requests:

• For future church planters who have church planting projects for this year and the upcoming one.

• For the students of the church planting school, that they continue to be trained in this great work.

• For the finances for our family, now that I am in the ministry full time, may God call sponsors to support his work in Culiacan.

• For the missions conferences in Peru in November where I will have the privilege of teaching at the Calvary Bible Institute there.

• For the 7 churches of Culiacan, may they continue to grow, may God keep, bless, and protect the pastors and their families.

Thank you for being part of what God is doing here. If you receive this newsletter, it is because we consider you part of it.

Blessings,

Pastor Hugo, Brenda, Joy, and Judá Limón.

Great news from Culiacán!

Culiacán, Sinaloa, México, July 2022

When we were sent by Pastor Mike Vincent and Calvary Rosarito in 2015 to plant Calvary Culiacán, we had no idea of the great plans that God had for this city known sadly because of the drug trade.

Now, six and a half years later, God has surprised us by building His church in this place. We have planted 6 Calvary churches: Calvary Culiacán North, South, East, West, Villa Juárez, and Aguaruto. In addition, 2 more church plants are ready for the coming months this year: Calvary Patria, and Calvary Conexión México.

There are no words to thank God for his blessings to this place where there were no churches that taught His word verse by verse, and now, He has broadened our vision to move forward planting more churches throughout the city, throughout Mexico, and the entire world.

A few days ago we celebrated the first anniversary of Calvary Aguaruto. This is a second generation church plant. In 2018 we sent Pastor Valerio Ramírez and family to plant Calvary Culiacán Sur, and they in turn sent Pastor Antonio García and family in 2021 to plant Calvary Aguaruto.

It was impressive to see almost 300 people in this great celebration! I can say without a doubt that God is bringing true revival to this community through Calvary Aguaruto.

God has been prospering all the church plants. Little by little we see more and more families arrive to each of the churches and pastors and their teams are being challenged to keep training more church planters through our Church Planting School.

Pastor Juan Carlos López and his family will be sent in August to plant Calvary Patria. All of them have completed the Church Planting School and are ready to start.

Pastor Juan Manuel and his wife Liliana will be sent next year to plant Calvary Gracia y Verdad. They, as well, have been trained in our church planting school and already meet every Saturday with a group of 10 families.

Pastor Brian de la Cruz and his family will be sent in December to plant Calvary Conexión Mexico in the state of Tlaxcala, near the center of the country. God has given them a vision to plant a church and the International Church Planting School, to send church planters to Mexico and beyond.

A land was donated to us to build this project, the land is just one hour from the Mexico City airport. It will be of great blessing and impact for many people. Here we will have a missionary base to receive groups of missionaries and take them to serve the main cities of Mexican culture.

Pastor Brian de la Cruz is about to graduate from the Calvary Church Planting School in Rosarito.

Also we have our TV program every weekend preaching the word of God to all the state reaching 1.8 million people.

We are preparing to attend the church planting conference in August at Calvary Rosarito, where I will have the honor of sharing the word of God. Approximately 45 people between students and alumni of our church planting school will be challenged in this great time to move forward in this beautiful work of planting more churches for the Lord.

Prayer Requests:

• For the pastors and families of the churches in Culiacán, may God continue to guide them, and for their finances

• For the 2 new church plants this year, may God supply for everything that is required and that many people get to know him through these new churches

• Special request: As many of you know, I am currently still working for a steelmaker company as a sales manager. I am about to complete 15 years with this company. In the recent months, as God’s work and churches grow, I have been meditating on the possibility of leaving my job to be full time in the work of God. For this reason, I ask for your prayers for direction from God and, in addition, for sponsors who wish to directly support our family. If you wish to do so or know of someone that God is calling to support us directly to our family, please let us know.

Thank you for all your love, support, and prayer for God’s work here.

Blessings.
