Fundraising for Family Relocation

“But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.””

Exodus 14:13-14

Please consider partnering with us in the purchase of a home.

Since we moved to Gulu in 2018 we have lived in a house located in the little village of Adak, which we have rented from our organization, Terebinth Ministries. This has been a blessing. Our children have space to play and grow, and they love the other children in our neighborhood. We love things here, we love our home and neighbors, we love the view, and most importantly we have been blessed to live so close to the LORD’s work. However, these benefits have come at a cost. Malaria, typhoid, bacterial infections, pneumonia, dangerous animals, village threats and attempts at cursing us, and even sepsis have been constant realities. We have been honored to be counted worthy of these things and we have done our best to endure with patience, but our strength is waning. We see that in order to have longevity and sustainability while serving the Lord here, it is time for us to move to the nearby city of Gulu. Living there, we would continue to serve in the same capacities, all with more physical strength and health.

Our director’s family, the Nolley’s, our ministry partner Luke Buescher, and our home church Calvary Chapel Gulu, are all located near to each other in a nice area outside of the main hub of Gulu. Adjacent to our director’s home is a court-owned property that is selling for half of what it is worth! The property is approximately .6 of an acre, it has a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house which is finished, and it has two half-finished buildings with a total of 5 rooms and an outdoor pit-latrine. The purchase of the property and the cost of the remodel is estimated to cost $75,000-$85,000. As a point of comparison, the entire school property we completed in October of last year cost around $220,000 all said and done.

Our other option would be to rent, and a suitable rental property in Gulu goes for around $600-
$900 a month. Since at that rate we could have paid off a home within 10 years, we believe that purchasing would be wiser than renting.

Unlike in the US, there are no mortgage loans worth mentioning in Uganda. Homes are purchased in cash, and rentals are paid for a year at a time. Therefore, we are looking for partners who can either donate towards this or who can invest a personal loan.

Please pray with us for God’s provision.

Please earmark any contributing donations toward this with “Harris Property Purchase”.

Please email me at mattharris9000@gmail.com if you are interested in partnering with a personal loan.

After serving the LORD in Northern Uganda for 6 years, we are convinced that this is where God wants us to be for a long time to come. We know that it is through God’s grace and your generosity that we have been able to serve here for this long, and we do not take it for granted. We deeply appreciate each blessing. We believe the time has come for us to move to a more permanent living situation through buying a family home. Please consider partnering with us in this step.

Thank you so much for your love, prayers, and partnership in the Gospel!
In Christ,

Matt & Noelle & Family
