The Triple Threat

What a phenomenal year 2022 has been! Together we have taken ground and defeated darkness. We make it complicated, but God makes it so easy as is outlined in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

The triple threat is a person who is proficient in three important skills within their particular field and brings fear to the enemy, opponent or opposition. We like to think as a family of three, God has given us three important tasks to defeat the powers of darkness that continue to rule and enslave people in the 10/40 window. We have been entrusted to preach, teach and help plant nationally lead bible teaching churches and establish bible colleges in remote regions of the world.

The best part is that in our weakness and shortcomings, He gives us the ability to accomplish His purpose in the world…Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.  The triple threat is working and the good news is Jesus is winning!

We wanted to briefly reflect on each of the three areas as we close out 2022:

Preach – We have had the opportunity this year to preach in the Leper Colony in S. Asia and at street fairs in Rosarito, Mexico. Sharing the hope of Jesus with a lost and dying world continues to burden our hearts. We also had the opportunity to preach at Missions Conferences, Young Adult weekly studies, and send new co-laborers to preach in the mountain tops of the Himalayas where the Gospel is now reaching for the 1st time.

Teach – We have both taught hundreds of hours of bible studies and classes this year. God’s Word is powerful and we have seen it transform lives, communities and impact nations for God’s glory in 2022!

We had the honor to travel this spring to teach at Calvary Bible Institute Peru. God has established a hub there with Pastor Cory & Danielle to raise up young people to send them throughout Peru as well as to Columbia, Bolivia, Venezuela and beyond. Here is a short one minute video from our time in Peru this year:  https://youtu.be/e5fXsIqL4KQ

This summer, we were both able to teach at the Calvary School of Missions in Mexico. The students who are preparing to serve as missionaries, were eager to learn and asked engaging questions. We could see that this group of students were special and God is going to do great things in and through them. It is always humbling to share a small piece of our story and how much God has done simply through our obedience and saying YES!

Bond has been teaching online classes into our campus in S. Asia and we had the privilege to graduate 7 men in November 2022 after 2 years of studies and outreach. We began with them in-person in India 2 ½ years ago, taught online throughout the past few semesters and got to graduate them in-person. What a joy!

We finished the year, with the tremendous opportunity to teach in Nepal. We never take it lightly, when we get to teach at CBI Nepal as it is thriving and taking ground for the kingdom of God. There is a pipeline of graduates that have been taught now and equipped for the next season of ministry.

Plant – Part of the graduation process is to discuss and pray with students about where the Lord would lead them to plant a church or establish a bible study. We have been praying and 4 new locations have established and outreaches are taking place. Those studies are becoming church plants and each is being visited during this winter break. Please pray for Laxman, Dipu, Joseph and Harka as they plant churches in Nepal.

Here are just a few highlights from 2022:

  • Traveled to 3 countries to further the Gospel and continue to teach at CBI campuses
  • Launched our first missionary into the Middle East
  • 6 new bible studies / churches planted in Asia from recent grads
  • Led short-term teams to Mexico (24) and Nepal (15)
  • Coordinated, supported, prayed for and provided leadership for 32 national pastors
  • Hosted our 1st CC Asia Pastors & Leaders Conference (150 from Nepal, India, Pakistan)
  • Christmas Outreach in 27 locations in Asia to share the gospel
  • As a family, we got to visit the Grand Canyon and camp with our cousins
  • Breanna learned to ride a bike, made new friends in Peru and started 2nd grade

We also experienced loss this year as Heather’s dad Lee and Aunt Lori both entered heaven this summer. We are grateful that we got to spend time with each of them this year as we were reminded just how precious life is. Heather also weathered several health issues, but after a breast cancer scare was found negative, skin cancer was removed and heart issues that were debilitating that now seem to be stabilized, we are trusting God for all He has in store in this upcoming year.

Taking New Ground in 2023

We are excited for 2023 as the Lord has opened many doors for us. We will be heading to the Middle East which is new for us as we have launched our 1st worker there and look forward to a new work God is going to do. We will be returning to South America to serve and teach at CBI Peru this spring. We are thrilled that after several years, we will be returning to Africa. We hope to fill our remaining time in Asia, but we are trusting the Lord to lead us in all of these plans as He is so faithful to do!

We are thankful for you and to continue to serve as a family of three to be your triple threat to the darkness and to bring Jesus who is the light of the world to those still waiting to hear! We are blessed by your friendship, prayers, love and financial partnership in the ministry and to be sent to preach, teach and plant churches together.

Thank you for partnering with us this year! Let’s continue to shine our light bright and shutter the darkness in 2023.

With Love,

Bond, Heather & Breanna Gaona
