A Month To Remember

Our last month of the year in Nepal was a full sprint with a student missions trip, finishing classes, graduation, scouting trip to plant a church, Christmas outreach, hosting BWO team and jumping on a plane to fly home for Christmas. Psalms 40:5 says, Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works, which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” This is exactly how we feel as we look at the amazing things the Lord is doing throughout the world.

Thank you for praying, supporting financially, pouring out love on our family and for your unwavering partnership in furthering the Gospel and discipling those in the most remote places this past year. The Lord led us to go to places that most will not and we could not do it without you “going” with us.

STUDENTS TAKE THE LEAD

After hundreds of hours in the classroom learning, it was time to put into action that which they had studied at CCBC Nepal. It is not enough to just know it, but learning to apply it is an important aspect of their time at Bible College. We took 22 students, staff with families and descended on the villages of 4 students over several days. The students planned and lead every aspect of ministry from preparing dramas, music, dances, skits to those who shared their testimony and the Gospel message. For some, it was their first time sharing their faith openly in a public place. At one of the locations, the outreach was schedule inside a church. But when we arrived the church was locked and the pastor couldn’t find the key forcing the students to a new location in the town center. They were pushed out of their comfort zone, but Ravi (who graduated this semester) stepped up to share His testimony of how God transformed his life. It set the course for an amazing time of ministry over several days. Many heard the good news for the first time and our students were used mightily in ways they weren’t expecting. We are thankful to those who partner with us to provide for the transportation, food, tracts and other items needs to make the student outreach possible.

GRADUATES GO THEREFORE

It was an honor to commission four more graduates at CCBC Nepal after they successfully completed the two-year program. Gopal and Raj Kumar are both from Gorka. They were born into Hindu families and have testimonies of how the Lord rescued them from alcohol, drugs and idol worship to loving Jesus and desiring to be trained for ministry. They were sent back to their villages after graduation to take over the church where their pastor is at as he will be moving soon. They are also hoping to reach out to other surrounding villages in the mountainous area where one of the most well known temples in Nepal is located.

CHRISTMAS OUTREACH

Imagine having never head about Christmas and the reason we celebrate it. That is the case for many in Nepal who have never heard of Jesus the Christ who was born as the Savior of the world. Invites were printed, neighbors were invited, the music was prepared, the campus was open and we were ready. Christmas is the perfect time in Nepal to host an outreach and invite the community to church. We prayed and were hoping a few of our neighbors would come and to see all of them turn up to hear the message of Christmas was a true delight. Bond shared from the book of Matthew and presented the Gospel to many who have not heard of Jesus who was born as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. As always, the Lord blows our minds and we had just as many people sitting outside the sanctuary as there were inside. It was truly a wonderful turnout where a handful of people made a commitment to Christ, which is the best Christmas gift ever. The worship team did a Christmas concert that was awesome and following the message we served the community a Christmas meal (Nepali style) to over 200 people. It was a wonderful celebration of our Savior’s birth.

CELEBRATING WITH SMILES

This year our hearts and lives were busted wide open for 12 precious girls who were welcomed to call the Promise Child orphanage home. It is a wonderful way to serve with Breanna who is absolutely loved by each of them. From songs and story time to snacks and gifts, it is a true honor to love on them and share the love of Christ on behalf of the many who sponsor and provide support. This month the children at CC WestGrove raised funds at a craft fair to purchase gifts for each of the girl who were in need of warm jackets for the winter. It was also a sweet blessing to be part of coordinating a visiting team from Believers World Outreach that hosted a princess party complete with crowns and dresses. Seeing these girls realize that they are loved and are daughters of the King is a special treat to be part of with our own daughter.

As the year comes to a close, we hope you are encouraged as we share just a small portion of the wondrous works that the Lord has done. We know that we are being asked to take even bigger steps of faith in 2017 as we venture into new areas and we hope to share more about that in our next update once some things have been confirmed regarding opportunities in South India.

With Love,
Bond, Heather and Breanna Gaona
