My Mom is in Heaven

Dear Family, Friends and Partners in Ministry,

We returned from Nepal in the end of May and immediately went to visit my mom Janice who had been in and out of the hospital and skilled nursing rehab facilities since breaking her leg in three places back in February.

In mid-June it became apparent that her health was drastically declining and we began looking into long term care options. In the process, she became more ill, got another infection, was not eating much and was readmitted to the hospital on June 19. The following day the doctor recommended hospice as her body had already begun shutting down and there was nothing else that could medically be done for her.

On Saturday, June 21 she had clarity of mind and understood that she would soon be going to heaven. She was not afraid as she looked forward to being free from her earthly body and meeting her Savior. This day was such a gift as our family gathered together with her and had sweet conversations that we will treasure. She was taken off all of her medication and hospice was on hand to ensure she was comfortable.

On Monday, June 23 she said her final two words to me, “Love You” and was resting comfortably.  Staying by her bedside for her final two days, we held her hands as we prayed and sang over her during her last few hours and moments. The presence of the Lord was near and evident as my mom took her final breath on earth followed by her first breath in heaven on the evening of Tuesday, June 24. She was peaceful and comfortable as she entered eternity.

We will be having a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 5th at 1 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Ramona in San Diego in honor of my mom. If you would like to attend, please reply to this email and we will send you directions and additional information.

Thank you for your love, support and prayers for our family during this time.
