Slowly but Surely

This time has come to a close and looking back we are so grateful for everything that God allowed us to do and experience throughout this summer. Even though we are not very busy with teams at Connections House, we have been keeping busy with ministry and preparations to move down south. The Lord has continued to bless us in many different ways, and we want to share a little bit about that with you. One thing we have begun to do is serve more at our church Calvary Rosarito. Mainly we have started serving in the worship ministry along with Brian’s brothers Kevin and Aldrin. Brian has also come on staff with Calvary Rosarito to get a better feel for things and learn more as we are preparing to move down south in December to plant a church.

Brian was also given the opportunity by Pastor Mike to give the sermon at a Wednesday Service in Calvary Rosarito. He taught Luke 19:1-10, the story of Zacchaeus. His sermon title was “How to Meet Jesus”, and praise God there were four people who accepted Jesus that night!

August 31st we went to Calvary Rosarito’s last beach baptism of the summer. We were able to see 13 people baptized in the ocean! Praise God for the amazing way that God is using Calvary Rosarito to reach the community.

We have celebrated 2 birthdays recently. Aldrin, who turned 23; and Brittany who turned 24.

For those of you who don’t know, Mexico independence day is September 16th. Calvary Rosarito had an event with live Mariachi, an amazing Mexican food court, and a photo booth. It was fun celebrating Mexico and the fact that we live in a country where we are free to share the Gospel and live for the Lord!

(Brian speaking) – We are so grateful because God has done a miracle in the life of my dad, Eduardo. Even after multiple months in the hospital, and against doctor’s diagnostics which gave no hope. My dad got out of the hospital and had the opportunity to go to church to thank and praise God for bringing him out of that critical state of health he was in. Even though he had undergone peritoneal dialysis, the doctors determined that it was not the best option as his body was not reacting well to it. So they removed it and have decided to continue with the hemodialysis treatment. This treatment will be a treatment that he will need for the rest of his life, but it will hopefully help him reestablish his health. Eduardo is very grateful for your prayers and for all the support that he has received from his family/relatives and family in Christ. Also for all the support from Elizabeth (my mom) and his other children who have not stopped taking care of him and getting him whatever he needs. Talking to my dad, he told me that he is very grateful with God, and that this project to go plant a church in Calpulalpan is motivation for him to continue. He is excited to see what God will do in southern Mexico. He has faith that God can restore his health even more so that he can serve where needed and to share his testimony of what God has done in him. He is still very weak and cannot walk at the moment due to a problem he is having with his knee which got worse during this time that he was hospitalized. Please keep him in your prayers!

We were invited to go to lunch with Pastor Mike Vincent and Pastor Pablo to talk about our plans for moving down south to start the church the end of this year. Pastor Mike and everyone at Calvary Rosarito has supported and encouraged us so much through this whole process. We are now planning a vision trip with Pastor Mike, Pastor Pablo, and Pastor Hugo in December to visit Calpulalpan.

The same week that we had this discussion with Pastor Mike, Brian met a family who is from Tlaxcala and recently moved here to Rosarito and started attending Calvary Rosarito. They encouraged us to continue with our plans to plant a church in Tlaxcala. Not only is their family there and in need of a good church, but there are Christians there seeking a church with sound doctrine. This is how we feel that God continues to confirm the calling that He has given us for the city of Calpulalpan and beyond.

Prayer Requests:

• For Eduardo’s health and recovery, and for provision for all his medical needs (medicine, hemodialysis appointments which happen every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 11am-3pm, gas money for hospital trips, provision for food, and other expenses).
• For provision for Brian to be able to go to the mission’s conference in Peru in November. (flight tickets are pretty expensive and the longer we wait to buy them the more expensive they will get).
• For wisdom as we continue to make plans for moving and planting the church.
• For provision for a good sound system for our church that we can get here before we move down south.
• That we may get Kimmy and Brittany’s Mexican papers before we move.
• For wisdom to know what to do with our cars (sell ours and/or buy a different car)

Praise Reports:

• Eduardo is out of the hospital and at home recovering
• We have some people who have committed to partner with us financially for our first year of ministry! We want to thank the people who have committed to partner with us. We are very grateful for your generosity! Pray for more people to partner with us so that we can continue with God’s work.
• We have a vision trip planned with Pastor Mike and Pastor Hugo
• That our kids are in good health and growing up so fast

Este tiempo ha llegado a su fin y mirando hacia atrás, estamos tan agradecidos por todo lo que Dios nos ha dejado hacer y experimentar en todo este verano. Aún que no estamos muy ocupados con equipos aquí en Connections House, hemos estado ocupados con ministerio y preparativos para mudar al sur. El Señor nos ha seguido bendiciendo en tantas maneras diferentes y queremos compartir un poco de eso con ustedes. Hemos podido servir mas en Calvary Rosarito ahora que tenemos mas tiempo libre. Principalmente hemos empezado a servir en el ministerio de la alabanza junto con Aldrin y Kevin. Brian ahora es parte del staff otra ves en Calvary Rosarito. He sido de mucha ayuda ya que vamos a mudar al sur para comenzar la iglesia al final de este año.

Pastor Mike le dio la oportunidad a Brian a compartir en Calvary Rosarito un Miercoles. Enseño Lucas 19:1-10, de la historia de Zaqueo. El titulo de su mensaje fue “Como encontrarte con Jesus”, y gracias a Dios 4 personas aceptaron a Dios esa noche!

El 31 de Agosto fuimos al ultimo bautismo en la playa de este verano. Tuvimos la oportunidad de ver a 13 personas ser bautizados en el mar! Alabado sea Dios por como esta usando Calvary Rosarito para alcanzar a la gente de esa comunidad.

Tambien recientemente celebramos 2 cumpleaños. El primero fue de Aldrin que cumplio 23 años, y la otra de Brittany que cumplio 24 años!

Como saben, el dia de independencia de Mexico es el 16 de Septiembre. Calvary Rosarito tuvo un evento con una banda de mariachi en vivo, varios puestos vendiendo comidas Mexicanas, y una area decorada para tomar fotos. Fue divertido celebrar a Mexico y el hecho de que vivimos en un pais en el cual estamos libres para compartir el evangelio y vivir para Cristo!

(Brian hablando) – Estamos muy agradecidos porque Dios ha hecho un milagro en la vida de mi papá Eduardo. Aun después de varios meses en el hospital, en contra de diagnósticos que no nos daban esperanza. Mi papá ya salió del hospital y tuvo la oportunidad de ir a la iglesia para agradecer y darle gloria a Dios por levantarlo de ese estado crítico de salud en el que estaba. Aunque le habían realizado la diálisis peritoneal, los doctores determinaron que no era la mejor opción pues su cuerpo no esta reaccionando bien a esto. Entonces se la quitaron y decidieron continuar con el tratamiento de hemodiálisis. El cual, ahora tendrá que mantener durante el resto de su vida. Pero esto le permitirá restablecer su salud. Eduardo esta muy agradecido por sus oraciones, por todo el apoyo que ha recibido de parte de su familia de sangre y su familia en Cristo. Por el esfuerzo de su esposa Elizabeth (mi mamá) y de sus hijos que no han dejado de atenderlo y cuidarlo en todo lo que necesita. Platicando con mi papá, me ha dicho que esta muy agradecido con Dios y que el proyecto de ir a plantar una iglesia en Calpulalpan junto con nosotros lo motiva para seguir adelante. Esta emocionado por lo que Dios hará en el sur de Mexico. Tiene fe que Dios lo puede restaurar su salud aún más para que le pueda servir en lo que se necesite y para dar testimonio de lo que Dios ha hecho en él. El sigue muy débil, y no puede caminar por el momento por una lesión que tiene en su rodilla que se empeoro con su estado de salud. Mantenlo en tus oraciones por favor!

Fuimos invitados a comer con Pastor Mike y Pastor Pablo para hablar de nuestros planes para mudar al sur y comensar la iglesia al final de este año. Pastor Mike y todos los de Calvary Rosarito nos han apoyado y animo tanto en todo este proceso. Ahora estamos planeando un viaje de vision con Pastor Mike, Pastor Pablo, y Pastor Hugo a Calpulalpan en Diciembre.

La misma semana que tuvimos esta platica con Pastor Mike, Brian conocio una familia que son de Tlaxcala que recientemente mudaron a Rosarito y comenzaron a ir a Calvary Rosarito. Ellos nos animaron a continuar con nuestros planes para plantar una iglesia en Tlaxcala. No solo vive su familia ahi y necesitan una buena iglesia, pero tambien hay Cristianos buscando una iglesia con sana doctrina. Asi sentimos que Dios continua confirmando el llamado que El nos ha dado por la ciudad de Calpulalpan y mas alla!

Peticiones de Oracion:

• Por el salud de Eduardo y su recuperacion, por provision de todos sus necesidades medicas (medicina, sus citas de hemodialysis que sucede cada Martes, Jueves, y Sabado de 11am-3pm, dinero para la gasolina para ir al hospital, provision por comida y otros gastos).
• Por provicion para Brian para que puede ir a la conferencia de misiones en Peru en Noviembre. (los boetos de avions son medio caros y entre mas esperamos para comparlos, mas caro sera).
• Por sabiduria para continuar haciendo planes para mudar y plantar la iglesia.
• Por provicion para un buen equipo de sonida que podemos agarrar aqui antes de mudar al sur.
• Que podemos sacar los papeles de Mexico para Kimmy y Brittany antes de mudar.
• Para sabiduria para saber que hacer con nuestros carros (venderlos y/o comprar otro diferente).

Reportes de Alabanza:

• Que Eduardo ya salio del hospital y esta en casa recuperando.
• Que ya tenemos a unas personas que van a ser socios financieros con nosotros en nuestro primer año de ministerio! Queremos agradecer a esas personas que se compremetieron ser socios con nostros y gracias por su generosidad. Ora por mas personas que puedes ayudarnos para que podemos continuar con el trabajo de Dios.
• Que ya tenemos un viaje de vision planeado con Pastor Mike y Pastor Hugo.
• Que nuestros hijos estan en buen salud y estan creciendo rapido!
