How Could They Know?

“All our lives we might talk of Jesus, yet we should never come to an end of the sweet things that might be said of Him”

  • The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer

How many things can you, off the top of your head, say about Jesus? I stand with the quote above that it is innumerable. Now imagine how hard that would be if you have never heard of Jesus. 3.4+ Billion people have never heard of what Jesus did for them on the Cross, which means they have never heard the gospel. We call those people Unreached, where it’s likely they will be born, live, and die never hearing it. With this lack of hope they turn to other things such as idol worship. This is what we were learning a lot about while we had Pastor Rob Douglass here teaching us last week. The Lord really opened my eyes to the harsh realities that flood most of the earth and it simply broke my heart. Two passages that describe my heart recently are the following

“And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation”

  • Romans 15:20

“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

  • Romans 10:13-15

With these classes in mind it gave me a different perspective while out on outreaches and doing worship. People need Jesus, and it’s totally legal to share that here and be bold, so why not!? The Lord has used me leading worship to grow me in this too. This is a praise report! I ended up in a last minute moment where they wanted to do a closing song for worship at the park outreach and I hadn’t been expected to do worship that day but I just grabbed the guitar, went, and He met me. Where in past outreaches I found myself with major anxiety even after preparing songs. God truly gave me a “peace that surpasses understanding” in that moment, and He has been doing that very often as I run to Him in my moments of anxiety. So praise God!

I have been beyond blessed to be around tons of kids at each outreach we are at. It has taught me so much! Not only of how much Spanish I don’t know, but that every kid I see is made in the image of God. Same for every person I see, like wow, God knows even their thoughts! And He loves them. This has grown in me a type of compassion I didn’t notice I lacked before. I desire to pray with people and hear their stories. On Wednesday we had a church takeover in Ensenada. I sat with a lady before service with a fellow student and heard about how she came to know Jesus. She shared how 45 years ago a lady in her neighborhood would stand outside and with a megaphone share about Jesus! She then watched her mom change and get saved from that so she ended up coming to Christ! Now 45 years later and she is still walking with the Lord!! From that one lady in the neighborhood who was obedient to that call to share the gospel, and was BOLD! How encouraging!

(This photo is from another outreach, not the one mentioned above)

I have so much more I wish I could share with you all! Please feel free to reach out to chat about all God’s doing here and please continue to pray for me because that is the best thing you can do to come alongside me during this time. And if you don’t know where to start with praying for me… here are some requests!

  • For me to daily surrender my plans, desires, and calling to the Lord.
  • That I would be a bold witness of Jesus Christ everywhere I go!
  • For the salvation of my family.
  • That I would sit still before the Lord (not be too busy for silence).
  • For growth in my Spanish speaking and singing!

If you feel led to partner with me financially in this, my current need is for the remainder of my tuition: $2,234. If you feel led to partner with me, you can use the “Become a Financial Partner” button below. Thank you so much for all your support and love! I am excited to keep you all updated weekly as I am here in Rosarito! Please check out my “poems” tab on my blog to see other cool ways the Lord speaks to me!
