Mexico here I come…

“Will you go with Me here?” “Will you tell them what I taught you?” “Will you show them how I restored your heart, rebuilt your life?”

Back in 2009, during a class Perspectives on the World Christian Movement, the Lord transformed my understanding of living intentionally for Him and planted a desire to serve Him in the mission field.

Wanting to learn more about what this would look like, I joined the Global Outreach team at my home church, Voyager’s Bible Church. While serving our Missionaries through prayer and care during their stateside visits, my desire for being on the missions field continued to grow.  Throughout the next couple years, to see firsthand what it was like to serve Him daily in a foreign land, I went on several short mission “Vision” trips to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Brazil.

The, in October 2014, I drove down to Rosarito Mexico to visit one of Voyager’s missionary global partners, Pastor Mike Vincent and his family and learn more about his church and surrounding ministries. Little did I know how this weekend would change my life.

As I rode along in the van on the dirt roads through the local hillside communities to pick up church goers I looked closely at their homes. Boxes, boards, tarps, tires old garage doors… I was fascinated by how resourceful and creative they were. These families had used anything they could find to provide shelter, safety and security.

No question it looked like they were living in poverty to me. But, the Lord spoke to my heart and reminded me that I had also lived in poverty…These homes were a visual example of how my heart had been before I knew Him. No matter how resourceful I was, building make-shift protection for my heart, it wasn’t enough. I was in an eternal state of poverty without Him as my Lord and Savior.up close, hillside

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

The Lord reminded me how similar we all are. No matter where we live, we all have the same need for Him.

Now on our way back to the church the Lord prompted me… “Will you go with Me here?” “Will you tell them what I taught you?” “Will you show them how I restored your heart, rebuilt your life?” After years of waiting for His call…I was startled by the questions. I thought,…Yes, I could do this with you, I’d love to do this with YOU”.

churchSeveral days later the Lord confirmed His questions to me during a morning devotion. Oswald Chambers; MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST. Isaiah 6:8 “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying; “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” With a twinge in my stomach I went on to read, “The call of God is the expression of God’s nature, not ours. God providentially weaves the threads of His call through our lives, and only we can distinguish them.” I could see, the direction for was being revealed and confirmed.

Getting ready to go…  Recently I joined an international mission sending organization, Saving Grace World Missions and have decided to be a Missionary  in Mexico.

During this first year in the field I will be serving with the Pesina’s as they provide guidance and leadership through the Church and ministries in the Colonia of Vista Del Valle. In addition, I look forward to hosting friends, family and teams including Voyagers Bible Church interested in serving the Lord with me through variety building, care, orphanage and VBS projects in the area.

Over the last several months I’ve been learning Spanish, taking classes to help with theNancy and the kids (2) children’s ministry and going down once a month to get acquainted. But, once a month isn’t enough.

With intentions of moving to Mexico to serve fulltime this spring, I will need to raise up $2,700 in monthly support for my personal and ministry needs.

Please join with me on my monthly financial and prayer support team.  Throughout the year I will keep you updated through personal notes and updates on my blog.

I’m looking forward to seeing how God will be using us to make a difference in the Colonia of Vista Del Valles.
