...Never ceases to amaze!
February 2026 by Paul Boubion
Serving and working in Mexico is amazing! Hence the title! Since our last update, Claudia and I have done some traveling in Mexico and the Far East!, We also started up our midweek Bible studies and watched our youngest daughter Poiema start college - that was an adventure!! Teaching and discipling young Christians
Firstly, being young spiritually isn’t the same as chronologically! Our smaller Bible studies on Thursday nights are designed to equip people to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ by teaching them how to read and study through the Bible verse by verse! I have 15 men showing up every week while Claudia has around 80 women and young ladies attending in person and online with the livestream.
In the MDVP / WOWP - women's bilingual study. I would like to share a couple of praise reports. One of my personal friends, Javier (also a church planting class mentor) passed away suddenly last year. He left his widow and three children. God is doing amazing things in this precious family! She attended our group and remarked, “how blessed and loved I felt!” That warms all of our hearts seeing God minister to this precious saint. There is much more to the story, but that will have to wait until a future blog!
Recently, one of the precious sisters from our Bible study move to Las Vegas. She called one of our Bible study leaders for prayer asking God to heal the division in her family and recommend a church. A a couple weeks later she called and reported the following:
“thank you for your prayers. I have had a very difficult time in Las Vegas, my son asked me to move out and is not talking to me anymore. I was a little nervous and very unfamiliar with my new neighborhood. I finally decided to find the Pastor and Awaken Christian Church you recommended and I discovered that Pastor Fernando Serrano lives 5 minutes from where I live! …Finally, my daughter and I have reconciled she sought me out and asked me to forgive her. I am so thankful to my sisters for your prayers!”
The men’s discipleship group has seen a couple of guys raised up in the last year and a half. These two friends are Jorge and Vicente. They are now completely leading the study when I am away on trips. It is a great blessing to see God raising up future pastors and leaders. I have personally found that it is not so challenging to see God raise folks up when they have the avenue to grow and lead!
30 hours of travel!
Claudia is traveling twice in February! She and two leaders from the MDVP ministry recently visited Pastor Federico and his wife Jenny in Tulancingo, Hidalgo (about 1 hour north of Mexico City). She and the ladies held a women’s conference and Claudia spent time one on one with Jenny. Claudia has a heart to visit and minister to the Pastor’s wives of our church plants! At the end of the month she will travel to La Paz to teach at a women’s conference for Calvary La Paz!
Poiema’s fruitfulness
Thursdays are very busy ministry days for us as we have the MVDP Bilingual women’s study and my discipleship group. We leave the house at 4:30pm. Recently, Poiema became the table leader for the young ladies! She welcomed another leader’s grandaughter to her table with a smile and gift of an extra notebook (new!) she found at home! This small gesture touched the child’s heart such that grandma sent the following message: (translated)
Hello, good morning Claudia. I want to thank you for the impact your life has had on mine. I am very grateful for your leadership and how you have always guided us to the sound word, and now I thank God for your daughter, Poiema. Seeing this photo reminds me of all the years I've prayed for my granddaughter. Many times I felt like I was swimming against the current alone, trying to influence Isabella's life. I want to tell you, Claudia, that my heart is full of joy because in Poeima, Isabella sees a leader, a daughter of God, an example of how to walk in faith, a wise and kind friend. From the first day she sat at that blessed table with the young women, that night she came looking for her Bible. In the morning, she woke up with the notebook Poeima had given her and, for the first time, did her personal devotional time, just her and God. Since that day, she reads and meditates on the Word before going to school. Yesterday, when we saw the mother of her two best friends, she told me: "Lily, my daughters came back happy from the meeting on Thursday that Isabella invited them to, asking if I could buy them Bibles. Those two girls in the photo are growing up without God, and on Thursday they were impacted by the love of God's Word." Through you and Poeima's love
