Christmas 2008

Tijuana Mexico

Christmas Outreach, 2008, Pedregales, Tijuana

Well, our annual Christmas gift outreach to the kids of Tijuana this year was a huge success! We gave out fliers promoting the gift giving, and ended up giving out more than 600 gifts!! Our brothers and sisters from Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills brought the gifts and about 70 of them came to help give them out. We had face painting and even a band from CC Tijuana sang Christmas songs. (This band consists of children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old).

The kids began to line up outside our church at 3:00 a.m., if you can believe that! George, one of our interns here, left to pick somebody up at 5:00 and noticed that the kids and moms in line were laughing and having a great time! They were so excited to get a gift. For most, it will be the only gift they receive this Christmas.

The event was very well organized, with the kids receiving different colored bracelets depending on their age.  They were divided into groups and before receiving their gift, they heard the gospel message.  I had the privilege of sharing with the oldest group—11 – 14 years, and EVERYONE was very attentive to the story. I know this was because of all the prayers that went out. The Lord moved in a mighty way last Saturday.  The kids were fed the Word, and were encouraged to attend our church.  We can only imagine how the Lord will touch these little hearts through a simple gift, but we are honored and privileged to be a part of it!!

It turned out to be a cold day, but the Lord held off the rain until the very end of the event! A big thanks to all of you who held this day up in prayer!
