November 2017

Please read our Nov. update!

Dear friends and family,

On Nov 17th, Noelle and I officially graduated the Institute For Gospel Transformation, at New Hope Uganda, along with 19 other students from all over the world! During the first weeks of the month we worked extra hard in preparation for our final exams and on our final projects. For her final project, Noelle burned a beautiful picture into wood, depicting a redeemed life’s relationships and how they reveal different aspects of our relationship with God. As my final project I created a vision statement and a syllabus for the Harris School of Discipleship, which essentially is my plan for training my children to serve the Lord. I was very encouraged after sharing my final project when several students and teachers wanted copies of it to help them as they lead their own families.

The Sunday after we graduated we packed up all of our belongings and moved our family from the little town of Kiwoko (Chi-woko), to the city of Gulu, about 4 hours North of our training. Some members of Terebinth Ministry are graciously letting us stay in and care for their house while they are on a short furlough back the U.S. We are using the time we have here to become acquainted with the ministry and to become familiar with the in’s and out’s of the city. Luke and I are also taking on the awesome responsibility of teaching the books of 1st and 2nd Chronicles to the pastors in the School of Discipleship, during the first week of December. Please pray that we will teach with truth and power, and that we prepare with diligence.

In light of the Thanksgiving holiday, we would like to share a few things we’re very thankful for. Food, shelter, clean water and filtration systems, friends, family, our ministry partner Luke, the answered prayers of many faithful people, the vehicle God provided for us, and the lives we have seen transformed through the Gospel. But this Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful for our newest baby, whom we will get to meet face to face sometime this Spring!

Thank you all,
Matt, Noelle, Emma, Madeline and Baby
