America is the odd one out?

In Western Culture we are born into a free thinking society where we can make choices and decisions as individuals. For most of the world that is not the case it is quite the opposite.

Rob Dogg sharing the missionary’s wisdom

We are all born with a worldview, you could say there are over 8 billion different worldviews. We all view the world from our own lens, but how we come to acquire our train of thought comes from the culture we were raised in. This is something interesting I learned while listening to Rob Douglass share from this past week. Rob was a missionary in Africa and Sri Lanka and has gained a vast amount of knowledge on how the world works in regard to bringing the Gospel to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). There are about 17,000 unique people groups in the world and 7000 are unreached with the Gospel. This is what Jesus said about this, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

Pastor Tim introducing me to share my Testimony

Over the past 2 weeks I have had multiple opportunities to share! In this photo I was asked to share my testimony on an outreach in Ensenada. This was the first time I have ever shared my testimony publicly. I had some nerves before but I prayed and the Lord calmed my nerves! It was an awesome moment to step out in faith and rely on the Holy Spirit.

Ninos from the church outreach!

Blessings on blessings being able to hangout and show the love of Jesus to the kids of Mexico. We had a little carnival celebration for their last day of VBS and it was a blast!

Matching with Pastor Gary

Gary has been on this trip the whole time and he’s has been the biggest blessing. He has 20 years of experience on the mission field and is filled with wisdom from The Word as well as practical life lessons. All of this knowledge yet he is so humble and his love for Jesus is admirable. It’s been awesome to meet him on this trip and now see him as a friend and a mentor.

Thanks so much again for the prayers and support I have reached my goal for the financial tuition. This trip has been life changing and has stretched me and many ways, God bless!

For Such is the Kingdom of Heaven

Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:13-14

Thank you all for the prayers and reaching out to me, it’s such a blessing!

Here is me as a philistine
solider and Depri as Samson

On the glorious splendor of Your majesty
And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts,
And I will tell of Your greatness. Psalms 145

God is our Creator, Sustainer, Savior, and Lover of our souls! Meditating on these truths has helped to focus on what’s before me. Whether that is being a light to the unsaved, serving others, or simply just eating a meal. The Sovereign God is on the throne ruling and reigning! Here is a quote from a book we read this week called Absolute Surrender, “As Christ was given up entirely to God, I am given up to Christ.” The past two weeks have really taught me what it means to follow Jesus daily and momentarily. It’s a privilege to be surrounded by strong followers of Christ who push me to absolute surrender to Jesus!

Sunday Service Children’s Ministry

This week and last week has been full of ministering to kids. We have gone to parks and churches partnering with the local Calvary Chapel Church in the area. Kids in Mexico seem to be more open and ready to have fun and learn from what we have to say. One eye-opening fact I heard was children were the most unreached group with the Gospel. I wrestled with this idea but more and more I have seen it to be true. Many of the kids I conversed with through a translator did not know who Jesus was on a personal level. This sparked a deeper desire within me to look at every interaction as an opportunity to be a witness of Christ, especially to kids.

I was able to share the Gospel to this awesome kid from the outreach, his name was Cameron! We were hanging out and I started to ask him some questions about Jesus and he couldn’t really answer any of them. So I showed him some scripture from my small Gideon’s bible and explained what Jesus did for him! After the conversation I asked if he wanted to follow Jesus he said yes so we prayed. Then I asked him the same question from when we first started talking, “who is Jesus?”, and Cameron said, “my savior.” That gave me chills, before the conversation he couldn’t answer the question and just gave me a blank stare. So praise be to God that he understands who Jesus is and what he did for mankind.

Praying for Cameron and his friends!

Thank you to everyone who have been praying for me and partnering with me financially. I have almost reached the full tuition of the school, I am about 400$ short. If you feel lead to give there is a financial giving button under the newsletter, or you can reach out to me personally and we can figure something out! Thank you so much again, this time here in Mexico has already been life changing and I can’t wait to see how God will work for the remainder of the time!

Don’t Want to Waste My Life

Wednesday night at Calvary Rosarito (With Pastor Gary the Legend)

Again, I want to express how grateful I am to all of you who are reading my newsletters and praying for me!

This week has been a blur, but also it has been the most I have ever learned, prayed, and read in a week’s worth of time. I have seen how the Lord is all together good and set apart, and how He has chosen us to be His messengers and watchmen (Ezekiel 33) of the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Now, my natural response to this is that I am not worthy or equipped enough to be a messenger and disciple of the maker of the cosmos. Here is a verse that has spoken to me about this reality, “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” 2 Corinthians 3:5-6.

With this truth I now know why Jesus said to Peter and every disciple of his, “And I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.” I don’t want to waste my life living for my own desires. The psalmist said in psalm 90, “So teach us to number our days, that we may present to you a heart of wisdom.” I’m learning to surrender my heart everyday and applying that to where the Lord is going to call me. One missionary in our class said to not push yourself into things but be pulled into them.

This week was not only a lot of praying and learning but also outreach! We had 3 different outreaches. Going to the local dump where people live and ministering to them, event at the park with activity for kids, and a Saturday night church event with a movie.

The Dump
People live on top and go down to get food and resources

It was sobering seeing the living situations of the people we met, conversed with, and prayed over. It really puts in prospective how rich and blessed I am in America. I had the opportunity to pray for a guy who gave his life to the Lord that same day after a message one of our pastor’s shared! After the time at the dump a leader told us that he was formerly a leader in the satanic cult they had near the dump. How amazing is that! Our God is a God of salvation and restoration!

Teaching the Kids During Park Outreach

I was able to share to the kids through a translator on our team, it was a bit different but awesome to share the good news in a different country to these little kids!

Taking In Moments

Rooftop view of Rosarito🙂

Hello friends and family! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this newsletter. I am so excited to update you weekly throughout the summer of what God is doing down here in Rosarito.

It has been a little over 1 day at the place we will be staying at for over a month called the Connections House. Already I have learned so much and have been challenged in my walk with Jesus. Moments like meeting new people, the foreign scenery, the smells of Mexico, and bunking with 7 guys in a room have directed me to take in and process my thoughts and motives. I hope to be in constant examination of my heart on this trip.

Here’s a verse I want to continue to meditate on because it has helped me with this desire, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer” (Psalms 19:14). Thus far the school has been so enjoyable and has stretched me as a person. The schedule is packed with lessons, worship, and outreach, but I will have time to get away in the morning for devotional and also some solid time to read great Christian books! I ask for prayer in those times that the Lord will be speaking through His Word and that I will come attentive and ready to listen.

Thank you all for partnering with me and making this trip possible through your prayers and generous financial support. I am close to my goal of $2700 so thanks so much! Next week I will have more to say about outreaches and the day to day living here in Mexico!

I’m going to Mexico!!

Hello Family and Friends!

Thank you for being a part of my life and caring for me in any small or big way. The Lord has blessed me with the best community full of God-fearing believers. This summer I am privileged to be attending the Calvary School of Missions. It is a six-week program that focuses on mission’s work, cultural differences, God’s word, and Jesus our Savior. We will be learning from experienced missionaries weekly and going out on outreaches during the time we’re there while partnering weekly with Calvary Chapel Rosarito and its many church plants throughout Mexico. The heart behind missions is the Great Commission given by Jesus, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Currently, there are 3.2 billion people in the world who are still waiting to hear the gospel. I listened to this fact in Hawaii sitting in Rob Douglass’s class on world missions, and it filled me with sorrow and a desire for action in my own life. C.T. Studd said, “Only one life ‘twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last” I want my motives and decisions to come from this statement. As well as reading the words of Jesus praying to the Father, “Not my will but your will be done” convicting me to change my plans to align with God’s will. Currently, I am learning and I’m nowhere perfect at living these truths out. A verse that has helped me in this struggle is Galatians 5:13 which says, “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” I feel the need to attend CSOM because it’s a great opportunity to serve and attain knowledge about reaching the gospel to the person next to you as well as the unreached. I am not positive where the Lord is directing me in my life but, I’m entering into this program with an open mind and a heart ready to wait and rely on the one who renews our strength. The best and most important way to support me is through prayer! There will be a way to support me financially as well on the website. This newsletter will be sent out weekly when I’m in Mexico with updates and prayer request. Here are some prayer requests of mine before I leave on the month-and-a-half trip.

  • The Lord’s direction and will for my life will become clear in my life
  • That my focus will be solely on Jesus, (be with Jesus, become like him, do as he did)
  • Laziness and selfishness would decrease in my life, and God would be glorified in every area of my life
