Greetings to everyone. There has been lots of rain showers in Moyobamba, Peru this past month. We are now entering the rain season. Several roads are eroded, puddles are scattered throughout the city, and there is lots of mud! It has been difficult to travel to other jungle cities, let alone going from one side of Moyobamba to the other.
But none of this has stopped what the Lord has been doing here in our jungle church.
October 27th we celebrated the one year anniversary of Calvary Moyobamba! Here I am pictured with 2 local young men. Both have grown in their understanding of the Bible and faithfulness to the church. They have been helping during church service with Sunday school and projection.
After Sunday’s service, we had a delightful time worshiping God, giving thanks to Him for His goodness, and filling our “buchisapas”. Buchisapa is Peruvian jungle slang and it means belly. It is fun to pronounce!

In our 1 year as a church, we have shared the gospel with more than 1000 people in our city through school outreaches, kids festivals, and evangelizing in the main square. We want to keep this going in year 2 and beyond!
In this picture we are with 50 middle school students in the church. They are from a local school nearby. Many of them go throughout the day without eating breakfast or lunch due to lack of resources. Once every 2 months, we feed them breakfast sandwiches and juice in the morning. In the middle is Yenry(from the Calvary Moyobamba team) sharing with them about how Jesus is the only way to heaven. Thanks to God, we have an open door to enter their classrooms to interact and share more of the Word of God.
We have 2 big outreaches planned for November and December. One will be in a poor neighborhood. The other will be in a more open and public place. Please pray that many come to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We will also invite everyone to connect with us at church.
In the middle of October, I had the privilege to teach at Calvary Bible Institute Peru for 2 weeks. This was extra special because it is where I graduated from and was trained to be a church planter and Pastor. The fellowship with the 50 students was my favorite part. They are so hungry for God and asked great questions in class. They completed all of their homework! And that was not easy because I gave them about 5 hours of homework each day! The class is called Self-Confrontation. It is about confronting the sins in our lives and handling them in a biblical manner. It is heavy and cuts to the heart. But it produces lots of humility.
I also had the opportunity to teach a church planting class. The guy next to me is Pastor Joaquin of Calvary Trujillo, who translated for me. Don’t ask me what I said at this exact moment. Because I don’t remember.
I also taught at Pastor Angel’s church (he is in the middle with glasses). He graduated from CBI Peru with me and was the first church plant through Calvary Trujillo. He is one of my best friends. It is always edifying to see him.
It is such a blessing to connect with Pastor Cory(my Pastor from Calvary Trujillo) and Pastor Angel. They have such big hearts for preaching the Word, equipping their church, and being part of the great commission. They also have given me great advice as a new Pastor.
Praise God that…
