“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”JOHN 14:27
Hello family and friends,
I hope you all have had a blessed start to the holiday season. You have been in my prayers! As always, I am beyond thankful for your love, support, and partnership in this call to fulfill the Great Commission. This truly would not be possible without God’s grace, first and foremost, but also through your prayers and financial support.
It has been over a month since being here in South Asia and there are too many stories and amazing moments to count, but I am excited to share just a snapshot of what the Lord is doing in this place and in my life. This month has been full of learning, growing, and fellowship. When I last sent an update, I had just arrived in this city and now after over a month I’ve gotten more of a taste of what daily life looks like with our host family here. It has been such a blessing staying with them as they have quickly become like family to me. They also have 3 young children, so getting to help around the house and with them has been something I love.
A Piece of Home Brought to SA
I am praying you all had a sweet Thanksgiving with your family and friends. We were lucky enough to have a little Thanksgiving celebration with the B family and some of the church members. There is no turkey here, so we substituted chicken instead and we all made a couple dishes to complete the Thanksgiving Feast. While some of our guests had celebrated Thanksgiving before, others hadn’t, so it was cool to be a part of their first experience. I enjoyed bringing just a bit of home to this place. I’m so truly thankful for this life God has blessed me with and allowed me to live, I’m so thankful for all of you, and most importantly for Jesus’ death and resurrection!
Light In The Darkness
The Lord has been speaking and showing me a lot since being here. One thing He has really reminded me of is that even in this dark nation filled with some much false worship, there is still a beacon of light. As I’m here, I’m also called to be an ambassador of that light, HIS Light. The truth is, even in the darkest of places, His light still shines. There is hope because Jesus is alive and I’ve had the privilege to see that hope and power on display while being here. Even in the times when I get overwhelmed and can’t seem to see God working here or when this happens in the future, I must remember that there is still a remnant. There is a remnant of believers serving Christ around the world, even in dark places. There’s also a remnant of people that have yet to come to know Christ. There is a picture up on the wall at our house of a woman holding a candlelight. I love this picture because it ties in so well to what the Lord has been putting on my heart and I truly think it speaks for itself.
Peace That Comes From Above
One day, the girls and I went to a coffee shop to have a meeting and do some studying. We met a lady named “Katherine” (name changed for her privacy), who was working there. We eventually had some conversations with her, which led to her asking us to teach her more English as she hopes to go to the US for her studies. We agreed to this and told her it would be a blessing for us to help her learn, as well as get to know her better through our conversations. That night, we were able to call her and give her a mini lesson. As we were finishing up, she said something to my friend, Tori, that totally blew us away. She asked her, “Do you do some kind of meditation, because from the moment I met you, I knew you had a peace that I want.” In a world full of unrest and chaos, a world without peace, there is a beautiful peace that comes from above and it is found in Jesus Christ alone. How incredible is it that this peace the Lord offers to all can be so tangible in our lives that unbelievers can sense and even crave it. My friend was able to share powerful truths with her, such as the gift of prayer, that this peace comes from God, and her love for the Bible. Katherine asked her to pray for her in which she prayed in Jesus’ name. How amazing! Please keep Katherine in your prayers and our friendship with her, that she would come to know Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior!
Besides that, Tori and I have been blessed with the opportunity to lead a women’s Bible study every Monday night. We are currently going through the book of Titus and it has been a really sweet time. Since being here, God has been so good to allow us time to learn guitar, which we both have been wanting to do for some time. Because of this, we have also been able to lead the girls in worship during our Monday meetings. Please pray that these gatherings would continue to be a fruitful time!
- The Lord has blessed me with memorable new experiences, as well as friendships in this country
- For the amazing work going on in this city and the ministry I get to be a part of here
- For a sweet Thanksgiving celebration and being able to bring a piece of home to SA
- That God opened the door for Tori and I to meet Katherine and build a friendship with her
- Our Monday night fellowship and Bible study has been going well by God’s grace
- That the Lord would continue to send out laborers into this harvest field as there is so much need in this country
- For our upcoming Christmas outreaches, which includes a big one-day conference for young adults with the theme of rebuilding and awakening the next generation for Christ. This takes so much coordination and preparation, but it is all in God’s hands and the most important thing is for the Gospel to go out and for the Lord’s work to be done!
- For more opportunities to have spiritual conversations with Katherine and that she comes to know Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior
- That the girls would continue coming out for our Monday night Bible study’s and that it would be a sweet and intimate time
- For spiritual and physical protection/good health as there has still been colds going around
Thank you for taking the time to read this update and for joining in on the work that God has called me to! It is such a beautiful gift to realize that the Lord doesn’t need our help in fulfilling His plans, but because of His love, He wants us to take part in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth! I would greatly appreciate your continued partnership with me in prayer as the Lord continues to prepare me for long-term, cross-cultural ministry, as well as through financial support, if you feel led to give. Any amount of a one-time or monthly donation is an absolute blessing for my vision tour expenses, future mission trips, and eventually for being sent out long-term on the field.
It means so much to me. God bless and thank you all!
For His glory,
