As we started our journey to Calpulalpan we scheduled multiple stops with various Pastors, friends and church plants from Calvary Rosarito along the way. As we crossed into the first state, Sonora, we stopped in San Luis Colorado where we got to have lunch with Pastor Asuncion (Pastor of Capilla Calvario San Luis Colorado) and his family. We also got to visit with our friends Lalo & Linda and their kiddos.

On our second day of the journey we set off for Hermosillo we had to go through a check point. Unfortunately we were pulled into a secondary revision area where they made unload about 25% of the trailer. When they finally came over to check our belongings, the officer let us go and only charged us the minimum tax price which was 7000 pesos (about 380 dlls). These taxes have to be paid when you are moving from a border city to the south of Mexico. This can only be avoided by getting a moving permit in Tijuana which we did not know about. We unfortunately were stuck at the check point for about 3.5 hours. Thankfully we still made it to the church serviceat Calvary Hermosillo! Pastor German invited Brian to teach, and Brian, Brittany, Kristy, and Pastor German led worship together. It was such a blessing to talk with Pastor German and his wife Mari about how the church is going and what their struggles and blessing have been in this first year of their church plant.

After Hermosillo we drove just over 7 hours to Los Mochis in the state of Sinaloa. We made it there right at dinner time and were able to go out to eat with Pastor Ramon and his wife Susi. He is the Pastor of Calvary Chapel Los Mochis. It was a blessing to hear about how their church is going and how it was for them to start their church.

From Los Mochis we had a short 3 hour drive to Culiacan where we were able to leave the trailer at Calvary Culiacan Norte. Big shoutout and thank you to sister Maritza for opening her house for us to stay while we were there! We stayed in Culiacan for about 4 days. Brian was able to share his testimony with the youth group on Saturday at Calvary Culiacan Norte. He was encouraging the youth with his/our story as we were traveling to Calpulalpan. On Sunday we went to Calvary Culiacan Norte where Pastor Hugo, and the Pastors from their church plants, prayed over us. It was kind of like another sending Sunday. Brian, Brittany, and Kristy were also able to help with worship that morning. From there we went to Calvary Patria, where Brian was given the privilege of sharing the message. Praise God there were 3 professions of faith at Calvary Patria. Then we went out to Calvary Villa Juarez. Here Brian was also able to give the message for their church service, where there were 2 professions of faith. While Ron, Kristy, Brittany, a a group of servants from the Calvarys there in Culiacan did an outreach for the kids at the park across the street from the church. It was a big blessing for us and for the kids there in Villa Juarez! There were about 85 kids who heard the Gospel and received backpacks (Thank you to Phil & Melinda Struska for putting over 300 backpacks together to bless the churches here in Mexico!).

After Culiacan we had a short drive to Mazatlan where we only stayed a day. Praise God we were able to bring some donations for them from Rosarito. A pulpit, electric drum set, and a communion table were all brought to them. It was sweet to visit with Pastor Tony and his wife Angela. As always it was encouraging to hear their story on how it was for them to start there church and what they have learned over the years. The encouraged us a lot and prayed over us as we continued on our journey.

From Mazatlan we had about a 6 hour drive to Guadalajara where we stayed one night just to break up the drive to Morielia. After the 4 hour drive to Morelia, we arrived at Calvary Camino Viviente where they were waiting for us with lunch! So sweet! That evening Brittany and Kristy were able to share their testimonies and do worship for the ladies Bible study. The next day we went back to the church to prepare for the outreach that afternoon. It was a crazy amazing outreach! There were more kids than we had expected. We had 80 kids and all of them got to hear the Gospel and also receive a backpack. Praise God! That evening we went out to dinner with Pastor Luis Areyzaga, his wife Delia, their kids and a couple other people from the church. It was a big blessing to see and start this relationship with them. Because of how close, distance wise, we are to each other, we plan on doing events and outreaches together in the future, and also be there to talk, encourage, and pray for one another! After Morelia we drove the rest of the way to our destination, Calpulalpan, Tlaxcala; which was only about a 4 hour drive. We decided that we wanted to spend some fun time together as a family before settling into Calpulalpan. So we decided to go to a camping park, that is about 30 minutes outside of Calpulalpan, and stayed 2 nights. It was sweet to spend this time together with Brittany’s parents before then returned to Rosarito. Here Joshua did ziplining for the first time, and Brittany was able to try out some rock wall climbing. There was also a pool, bowling, playground for the kids and a couple restaurants that were really good! Here are two posts with more photos and videos – FIRST – SECOND.

Once our time was up at the park we drove into Calpulalpan and we were able to get an airbnb for all of us to stay at. A few great things happened in those first two weeks! 1: God provided a house for us to live in that is very spacious and affordable for our family. Plus it is only about 3 blocks away from the property that was donated to the church. 2: Ron and Kristy helped us so much at getting Calvary Conexion Mexico ready for our first informational meeting! 3: Praise God that even though Eduardo has a lot of health issues, Elizabeth, Eduardo, Kevin, and Aldrin were all able to make it here to Calpulalpan safely by plane from Tijuana. 4: Praise to God, we had an amazing outreach here in Calpulalpan! There were about 110 kids and 25 adults that came to the outreach. Which is amazing for never doing an outreach here before and not knowing what to expect! (Click here for a link with more pictures). But Praise God it went well and all of them got to hear the Gospel and receive backpacks as well! Once the outreach was over we invited all of them to come to our first informational meeting at Calvary Conexion Mexico.

Prayer Requests:

• For our family to get settled into our new house
• For construction to go smoothly and quickly at church
• For God to open the hearts of the people in Calpulalpan to receive the Gospel
• For Kevin & Aldrin to be able to find jobs to support their family
• For God to continue to work with Eduardo’s health because he has kidney failure. So that he can out of the Hospital, be stable and stay at home. 

Praise Reports:

• We made it to Calpulalpan safely and were able to do so much and bless many people on our way down
• That Ron & Kristy were willing to stay 2 weeks more here in Calpulalpan to help us get the church ready to receive people
• That Brian’s family arrived safely to Calpulalpan
• That God provided a minivan for our family

¡Hemos Llegado!

Cuando comenzamos nuestro viaje a Calpulalpan, programamos múltiples paradas con varios pastores, amigos e iglesias plantadas por calvary Rosarito en el camino. Cuando cruzamos al primer estado, Sonora, nos detuvimos en San Luis Colorado donde almorzamos con el Pastor Asunción (Pastor de Capilla Calvario San Luis Colorado) y su familia. También pudimos visitar a nuestros amigos Lalo y Linda y sus hijos.

En nuestro segundo día de viaje fuimos hacia Hermosillo y tuvimos que pasar por un punto de revision de la aduana. Desafortunadamente, fuimos llevados a un área de revisión secundaria donde descargaron aproximadamente el 25% de nuestras cosas del remolque. Cuando finalmente vinieron a revisar nuestras pertenencias, el oficial nos dejó ir y solo nos cobró el precio mínimo de impuestos que era de 7000 pesos (unos 380 dlls). Desafortunadamente, nos quedamos alli en el punto de revision durante aproximadamente 3.5 horas. ¡Lo bueno que aún llegamos al servicio de la iglesia en Calvary Hermosillo! El Pastor German invitó a Brian a enseñar, y Brian, Brittany, Kristy y el Pastor German dirigieron la alabanza juntos. Fue una gran bendición hablar con el pastor Germán y su esposa Mari sobre cómo va la iglesia y cuáles han sido sus luchas y bendiciones en este primer año de la plantación de su iglesia.

Después de Hermosillo manejamos poco más de 7 horas hasta Los Mochis en el estado de Sinaloa. Llegamos justo a la hora de la cena y pudimos salir a comer con el pastor Ramón y su esposa Susi. El es Pastor de Calvary Chapel Los Mochis. Fue una bendición escuchar cómo va su iglesia y cómo fue para ellos comenzar su iglesia.

Desde Los Mochis tuvimos un viaje corto de 3 horas hasta Culiacán, donde pudimos dejar el remolque en Calvary Culiacan Norte. ¡Un gran saludo y gracias a la hermana Maritza por abrir su casa para que nos quedáramos alli mientras estuvimos en Culiacan! Nos quedamos en Culiacán por unos 4 días. Brian pudo compartir su testimonio con el grupo de jóvenes el sábado en Calvary Culiacan Norte. Estaba animando a los jóvenes con su/nuestra historia mientras viajábamos a Calpulalpan. El Domingo fuimos a Calvary Culiacan Norte donde el Pastor Hugo y los Pastores de sus iglesias plantadas oraron por nosotros. Fue como otro Domingo de envío. Brian, Brittany y Kristy también pudieron ayudar con la alabanza esa mañana. De allí fuimos a Calvary Patria, donde Brian tuvo el privilegio de compartir el mensaje. Alabado sea Dios hubo 3 profesiones de fe en Calvary Patria. Luego salimos al Calvario Villa Juárez. Aquí Brian también pudo dar el mensaje para el servicio de la iglesia, donde hubo 2 profesiones de fe. Mientras que Ron, Kristy, Brittany, un grupo de siervos de los Calvarys de Culiacán hicieron un alcance para los niños en el parque al otro lado de la calle de la iglesia. ¡Fue una gran bendición para nosotros y para los niños de Villa Juárez! Hubo alrededor de 85 niños que escucharon el Evangelio y recibieron mochilas (¡Gracias a Phil y Melinda Struska por juntar más de 300 mochilas para bendecir las iglesias aquí en México!).

Después de Culiacán, tuvimos un viaje corto a Mazatlán, donde solo nos quedamos un día. Alabado sea Dios, pudimos traer algunas donaciones para ellos desde Rosarito. Les trajeron un púlpito, una batería eléctrica y una mesa de comunión. Fue de bendicion visitar al Pastor Tony y su esposa Angela. Como siempre, fue de mucho animo escuchar su historia sobre cómo fue para ellos comenzar allí la iglesia y lo que han aprendido a lo largo de los años. Nos animaron mucho y oraron por nosotros mientras continuamos nuestro viaje.

Desde Mazatlán tuvimos un viaje de aproximadamente 6 horas a Guadalajara, donde nos quedamos una noche solo para dividir el viaje a Morielia. Después del viaje de 4 horas a Morelia, llegamos a Calvary Camino Viviente donde nos estaban esperando con el almuerzo. ¡Tan dulce! Esa noche, Brittany y Kristy pudieron compartir sus testimonios y hacer la alabanza para el estudio Bíblico de las damas. Al día siguiente volvimos a la iglesia para prepararnos para el alcance de esa tarde. ¡Fue un alcance increíble! Había más niños de los que esperábamos. Fueron como 80 niños y todos pudieron escuchar el Evangelio y también recibieron una mochila. ¡Alabado sea el Señor! Esa noche salimos a cenar con el Pastor Luis Areyzaga, su esposa Delia, sus hijos y un par de personas más de la iglesia. Fue una gran bendición ver y comenzar esta relación con ellos. ¡Debido a lo cerca que estamos el uno del otro, en cuanto a la distancia, planeamos hacer eventos y evangelizar juntos en el futuro, y también estar allí para hablar, animarnos y orar unos por otros! Después de Morelia manejamos el resto del camino a nuestro destino, Calpulalpan, Tlaxcala; que era sólo alrededor de 4 horas en carro. Decidimos que queríamos pasar un rato divertido juntos en familia antes de instalarnos en Calpulalpan. Así que decidimos ir a un parque para acampar, que está a unos 30 minutos de Calpulalpan, y nos quedamos 2 noches. Fue bonito pasar este tiempo junto a los padres de Brittany antes de regresaran a Rosarito. Aquí Joshua se lanzo en la tirolesa por primera vez, y Brittany pudo probar un poco de escalada en paredes rocosas. También había una piscina, boliche, un parque infantil para los niños y un par de restaurantes que estaban muy ricos. Aquí hay dos publicaciones con más fotos y videos – PRIMERO – SEGUNDO.

Una vez que se acabó nuestro tiempo en el parque, manejamos hasta Calpulalpan y pudimos conseguir un airbnb para que todos nos quedáramos. ¡Ocurrieron algunas cosas maravillosas en esas dos primeras semanas! 1: Dios nos proveyó una casa para vivir que es muy espaciosa y económica para nuestra familia. Además, está a solo 3 cuadras de la propiedad que fue donada a la iglesia. 2: ¡Ron y Kristy nos ayudaron mucho a preparar a Calvary Conexion México para nuestra primera reunión informativa! 3: Gracias a Dios, aunque Eduardo tiene muchos dificultades de salud, Elizabeth, Eduardo, Kevin, y Aldrin llegaron a salvos a Calpulalpan en avion desde Tijuana. 4: ¡Alabado sea Dios, tuvimos un alcance increíble aquí en Calpulalpan! Había alrededor de 110 niños y 25 adultos que asistieron al alcance. ¡Lo cual es asombroso por no haber hecho nunca un alcance aquí antes y no saber qué esperar! • Para que nuestra familia se instale en nuestra nueva casa
• Para que la construcción se realice sin problemas y rápidamente en la iglesia
• Para que Dios abra los corazónes de la gente de Calpulalpan para recibir el Evangelio
• Para que Kevin y Aldrin pueden encontrar trabajo para ayudar a su familia
• Para que Dios siga obrando en la salud de Eduardo que tiene insuficiencia renal y que pueda salir del hospital, estar estable y en su casa.

Praise God we had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s together with our families! It was sweet for all of us to be together, especially because we don’t know when or if we will all be together next Christmas. The cherry on top was that Brittany’s brother, William, drove down from Glendale, AZ to celebrate with us.

We were so blessed during our sending weekend at Calvary Rosarito! At all three of the services Brian was given the opportunity to share about a few verses (John 12:24-26) that God used to confirm our calling to plant a church in Calpulalpan. Praise God we were able to sell t-shirts with our church’s name, and sell food to raise funds for our trip to move down and start the church. We are so grateful for the people who came up to us and encouraged us, supported us financially, and prayed for us. Talk about feeling loved! It was definitely hard and sad to say goodbye to our friends, family, comfort, security, stability, and more. On the other hand we have had so many people encouraging us that God will do great things through His work in Calpulalpan. God has continued to confirm our family’s calling through so many things and we are confidant that we are doing God’s Will for our lives.

I (Brittany) said goodbye to my Chick-Fil-A job on December 30th. I had been working there for almost 5 years and have been so blessed to work there. I gained many friends, had a wonderfully flexible schedule to allow me to do ministry, had caring leaders who invested in me to become a better leader/person, never had to worry about getting Sundays off, had awesome Christmas parties and other outings, and many more things! I felt like I should give something to some of my closest co-workers and leaders so I decided to write them each a letter. I think I wrote about 20 personalized letters. Each had a different Bible verse and my contact info for if they ever had any questions about the Gospel, our ministry, or would like to let me know how to pray for them. Thank you Chick-Fil-A Mile of Cars, my coworkers, and to the owner of the restaurant – Michael Gonzalez!

We also had the opportunity to go to the missions conference at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa during our last week before moving down to Calpulalpan. The theme of the conference was “Open Door” and we were so blessed to hear different stories of missionaries from around the world! It was a blessing to attend the conference along with Pastor Mike Vincent, Pastor Dan and Pastor Pete from Calvary Rosarito! It was especially nice to catch up with some friends we have not seen in a while, like Michelle Talaski and David & Karen Wilson! It was very encouraging to hear Pastor Brian Kelly‘s testimony of the work he and his wife Lynne have done over the years all over the world!

After the conference in Costa Mesa, Brian, Kimmy and I (Brittany) got to drive up to Yorba Linda, CA where we got to visit all of our Saving Grace and School of Missions family. Big thanks to Pastor Trent for letting us share about Calvary Conexión Mexico with your church! It is always a huge blessing to gather with fellow missions and church planting-minded people. Also big shoutout to Pastor Tim & Jen Pappas to letting us crash at their house for the weekend!

After visiting with our friends and family stateside, we returned to Mexico to finish packing the trailer and say goodbye to more friends and family. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to send us off and pray for us. We love you all and miss you already!

• For safe travels driving and moving down to Calpulalpan
• For Brian’s family who will be flying out on January 22nd Lord willing to join us
• For Eduardo’s health insurance and treatment to transfer smoothly
• For us to be able to find and purchase a vehicle for our family

Una Despedida Agridulce

¡Alabado sea Dios, tuvimos una Navidad y un Año Nuevo maravillosos junto con nuestras familias! Fue dulce para todos nosotros estar juntos, especialmente porque no sabemos cuándo o si estaremos todos juntos la próxima Navidad. Lo mejor fue que el hermano de Brittany, William, condujo desde Glendale, AZ para celebrar con nosotros.

¡Fuimos tan bendecidos durante nuestro fin de semana de envío en Calvary Rosarito! En los tres servicios, Brian tuvo la oportunidad de compartir unos versículos (Juan 12:24-26) que Dios usó para confirmar nuestro llamado a plantar una iglesia en Calpulalpan. Gracias a Dios, pudimos vender camisetas con el nombre de nuestra iglesia y vender comida para recaudar fondos para nuestro viaje para mudarnos y comenzar la iglesia. Estamos muy agradecidos por todas las personas que se acercaron a nosotros y nos animaron, nos apoyaron financieramente y oraron por nosotros. ¡Hablando de sentirte amado! Definitivamente fue duro y triste despedirnos de nuestros amigos, familia, comodidad, seguridad, estabilidad y más. Por otro lado hemos tenido tantas personas animandonos que Dios hará grandes cosas a través de Su obra en Calpulalpan. Dios ha seguido confirmando el llamado de nuestra familia a través de tantas cosas y estamos seguros de que estamos haciendo la Voluntad de Dios para nuestras vidas.

Yo (Brittany) renuncié mi trabajo en Chick-Fil-A el 30 de diciembre. Estuve trabajando allí durante casi 5 años y he sido muy bendecida de trabajar allí. Hice muchos amigos, tenía un horario maravillosamente flexible que me permitía servir en el ministerio/iglesia, tenía líderes bondadosos que invirtieron en mí para convertirme en un mejor líder/persona, nunca tuve que preocuparme por tener los domingos libres, tuve increíbles fiestas navideñas y otras salidas, y ¡muchas cosas más! Sentí que debía dar algo a algunos de mis compañeros de trabajo y líderes más cercanos, así que decidí escribirles una carta a cada uno. Creo que escribí unas 20 cartas personalizadas. Cada uno tenía un versículo diferente de la Biblia y mi información de contacto por si tenían alguna pregunta sobre el Evangelio, nuestro ministerio, o quisieran decirme saber cómo puedo orar por ellos. ¡Gracias Chick-Fil-A Mile of Cars, mis compañeros, y el dueño del Restaurante – Michael Gonzalez!

También tuvimos la oportunidad de ir a la conferencia de misiones en Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa durante nuestra última semana antes de mudarnos a Calpulalpan. El tema de la conferencia fue “Puerta Abierta” y fuimos muy bendecidos de escuchar diferentes historias de misioneros de todo el mundo. ¡Fue especialmente agradable asistir a la conferencia junto con Pastor Mike Vincent, Pastor Dan y Pastor Pete de Calvary Rosarito. Tambien en la conferencia pudimos reunirnos con algunos amigos que no hemos visto en mucho tiempo, como Michelle Talaski y David & Karen Wilson! ¡Fue muy animante escuchar el testimonio del Pastor Brian Kelly sobre el trabajo que él y su esposa Lynne han realizado a lo largo de los años en todo el mundo!

Después de la conferencia en Costa Mesa, Brian, Kimmy y yo (Brittany) manejamos hasta Yorba Linda, CA donde pudimos visitar a toda nuestra familia Saving Grace y la escuela de Misiones de Calvary. ¡Muchas gracias al pastor Trent por permitirnos compartir sobre Calvary Conexión México con su iglesia! Siempre es una gran bendición reunirse con personas de mentalidad de plantar iglesias y missiones. ¡También muchisismas gracias al Pastor Tim y Jen Pappas por dejarnos quedar el fin de semana en su casa!

Después de visitar a nuestros amigos y familiares en los Estados Unidos, regresamos a México para terminar de empacar el tráiler y despedirnos de más amigos y familiares. Muchas gracias a todos los que vinieron a animarnos y orar por nosotros. ¡Los amamos a todos y ya los extrañamos!
