Walking in My Calling

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well.
God has been so good, just like He always is. I’ve really been seeing Him work through myself and my team this week. As we’ve had the opportunities to serve in outreaches together we’ve gotten to know each other on a different level. Serving Christ as a spiritual family allows you to see different gifts and roles God has given all of us. It’s so amazing because we know that it has nothing to do with who we are but who God is. We had three outreaches this week. One at the dump where we partnered with Calvary Homex, another at a local park where we partnered with Calvary Rosarito, and one at CC La Gloria. The longest one on Saturday at CC La Gloria, lasted eight hours. It was so awesome! We had some teaching, some sharing testimonies with adults, others sharing with kids, and worship. I had the opportunity to lead the adults in worship before the message. It was such a joy to see people from the neighborhood come out and hear the gospel. At the end we shared the movie Jesus Revolution. It was a powerful outreach. After our very intimate debrief the night before, it felt even more sweet to serve with my team. We shared things that made us vulnerable and this allowed us to know what to pray for and encourage each other in the areas that we know they might struggle with.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

The Great Commission is not an option to be considered, it is a command to be obeyed.
Hudson Taylor
Before coming to The School of Missions, I knew about the Great Commission, but after sitting in these classes, I realize that I didn’t know about it as well as I thought I did. Here’s what I found. We can define missions as the evangelization and discipleship of ALL nations. This is not a calling, this is a command. We are to reach all the nations with the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a church, we can take part by going or sending, this is the purpose of the church. If the Lord calls you to go, then we must go in obedience. If He calls you to send, then we must send in obedience. Both of these require us to die to ourselves and give our lives to Jesus and His command. Jesus’ last words to His disciples were…
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20
If we are followers of Christ, this makes us His disciples, and if we are His disciples, then this command is to us. We can know how to obey this command in the four Gospels along with the book of Acts (Mark 16:15-20; Luke 24:46; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:4-8). There are 3.2 billion people in this world who have never heard about Jesus, they are considered Unreached. They will never know Him unless someone goes to tell them. The same Jesus that we put our faith in, the One we rely on, the One we call on, they don’t get to do that because they don’t know who that is. I encourage you guys to reflect on this. Are you okay with this many people on their way to hell? As of now there is 1 missionary for every 250,000 unreached people. When we read the book of Acts we see that the Gospel spread like fire! But it’s because the church was doing what they were supposed to: following Jesus’ command. They planted churches that planted churches and I truly believe that this can happen again!
