May 2008 Update

Dear Family and Friends,

This past month has been quite busy for us in Kenya; we were blessed to host many visitors.

We hosted a team of 8 people from CC of the High Desert, California. It was refreshing for us to see these saints, with such passion to serve God in Africa. The team comprised of people of various age groups, but all united with one purpose to serve and bring glory to Christ during their visit to Kenya.

Pastor Brian Dupont of CC High Desert taught a 4 day course in, Advanced Biblical Counseling.

We were initially expecting 30+ people to show up for the course, as it was offered to our bible college students, and pastors and church leaders that are involved in counseling from outside our church. We were pleasantly surprised to see 78 people show up for the course from various churches in Nairobi, and Pastor Brian was able to give out 75 Certificates of Completion.

Topics such as Marriage counseling, Church Discipline, Teaching in Counseling, Giving Hope and Biblical Change, were among some of the various topics that were taught in the counseling course. We had much uproar as the word of God swung through the room. Many that attended the course were challenged by the teaching and began to wrestle with the Truths of the Bible in contrast to their tradition/culture. It Was Awesome!

Pastor Brian emphasized the need to abide in the Word of God when it came to counseling and to choose Biblical truths as a standard for Life as opposed to African cultural practices, traditions and “ways of the world,” as a standard for life.

The team was able to travel to various parts of Nairobi to teach (CRE) Christian Religious Education Street witnessing and evangelism almost on a daily basis during their 2 week visit here.

During which 2 of the team members almost got arrested by the police for handing out flyers to the public. The police were more concerned about people littering the flyers than about the gospel being preached. But because of God’s great mercies they were pardoned and not arrested. Praise the Lord!

Also at CC Nairobi this past month we had, Kenyan Gospel and Reggae Artists perform at our, “Freedom in Christ,” concert. Kilosh and “SK Blue Headliner,” were the artists who performed. The gospel message was preached and people came to the Lord. Praise the Lord!

Our church Is growing. We had a full house again last Sunday and People are making Calvary Chapel their home church.

At our women’s ministry we were informed that some of the women who were attending the ministry and were involved in the Rabunafi project were being persecuted by their non Christian husbands, who were preventing them from coming to church. Please continue to pray for these ladies and their husbands.

Prayer requests & Praise reports:

Please pray for the women at our church who are being persecuted by their unsaved husbands for attending church.

Please pray for good health for our family, we have all been sick this past month.

Please pray that the Lord would provide sufficient finances for our family.

*We Praise the Lord: that Tom & Cheryl Rees were able to return back to Kenya last month, they will be here for some months and then they will be heading to Rwanda to do ministry there. *

* We also Praise the Lord that peace has returned to Kenya , the new government seems to be stable & the president is making an effort to re-settle all the Internally displaced people .Praise the Lord !*

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support for our ministry. Please do write to us and let us know how you are doing and your prayer requests.

” Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16.
