McSweeny Feb. 2012 Update

Greetings from Frankfurt!

Time has really flown by and the pace of our life has really picked up. For one, we are in the final phases of Linda’s pregnancy. Although the due date is several weeks away, the baby could potentially come at any moment. We have been very busy getting the apartment ready and ensuring we have everything we need. We have painted and redecorated the entire apartment. We are finally feeling somewhat “ready,” though we will probably never be 100% ready. It is a strange feeling to know that soon there will be a helpless baby here who is totally dependent upon us night and day. The baby is due on March 13th.

Thanks for praying for our landlady, her surgery went very well. They were able to remove the entire tumor and she also no longer needs chemotherapy. Another “side affect” of the surgery is that her organs are no longer swelling up and growing. She had this disease, probably from the brain tumor, that cause all here organs and extremities to continue to grow. She has openly acknowledged God as taking her fear away and giving her a good surgery. She was even in church the following week. We are so thankful for the witness to her and her family, but we are still praying for the Lord to do a further work in her and her family’s lives.

God continues to bless the church with visitors and we have a new couple attending from down the street. We are especially excited about the locals who are now attending. Hardly a week goes by where we don’t have a guest or two. Our newest convert, just a few months old in the Lord, has developed a heart for persecuted Christians around the world and is very interested in the ministry Open Doors. Together we are planning an information and prayer evening on March 2nd, followed by a 24 hour prayer chain. It will be interesting to see if we are able to fill up all the prayer slots, but I think it is good to challenge the church in this area. We have also recently had our second baby dedication. We are thankful for all the Lord has done.

Linda’s CD project is almost finished, thank you for praying. We have consistently underestimated the project on how much time and energy it would cost, but we are almost there. Linda is already working on the promotional materials for possible concerts and other events. The album just needs to be mixed.

Here are some specific prayer requests:

1) Please pray for the birth of the child and our adjustment to our new family life. Pray for strength and wisdom as we will have even more responsibility than now.

2) Pray for Linda’s CD, that God would give her wisdom for the final production decisions. The finishing touches have been a source of unforeseen stress and we would like to be finished with it soon.

3) Pray for the Open Doors information & prayer night on March 2nd, that it would be well attended and that it would stimulate the church to prayer. This is also a great opportunity for our new convert to get involved in the church. We are praying the event would encourage him.

4) Please pray for a renewed passion for the Lord for myself. I feel like the concerns of daily living and my responsibilities have weighed down my heart a bit.

Thanks for your prayers and support! God bless!
