Comoros & Qatar

Comoros: are islands that are located off the south-east coast of Africa, to the east of Tanzania and north-west of Madagascar.  Freedom of religion in Comoros is addressed in the constitution. However, there are limitations to this right in practice. Proselytizing for any religion except Islam is illegal, and converts from Islam may be prosecuted under the law. Coming to faith on these three Indian Ocean islands poses many difficulties. Some family and community members have harassed new Christians and chased them out of their schools and villages for ‘evangelizing Muslims’. The underground Church is relatively small, but Bible study groups continue to meet regularly in homes.

Qatar: is 100% Muslim of the citizens of Qatar. The Constitution, as well as certain laws, provide for freedom of association, public assembly, and worship in accordance with the requirements of public order and morality. Notwithstanding this, the law prohibits proselytizing by non-Muslims and places some restrictions on public worship. Islam is the state religion. Nearly all the Christians in this wealthy Gulf state are from other countries. Qatari believers strongly protect their anonymity and don’t want to know about others for fear of betrayal and persecution. Almost all of them became Christians abroad, some while attending summer courses at Western universities. But many of these stay abroad, afraid to return. Individuals caught sharing their faith with Muslims may be jailed for up to ten years.

Prayer Points:

1. Please pray for the islands of Comoros. Pray that the LORD would open the eyes of the people there to see the truth of who Jesus is and come to know Him as Lord and Savior.
2. Pray for the small underground church.  Pray that the LORD would strengthen them in their faith as they meet together to study God’s word.
3. Pray for those who do give their lives to Jesus that they would be strong in their faith and that they wouldn’t fear man or the rejection of man but share the love of Jesus boldly!
4. Please pray for Qatar.  Pray that the eyes of the people would be open to the gospel. Pray for vision, dreams and supernatural experiences through out the nation of Qatar that would lead people to Jesus.
5. Pray for those who hide their faith in the fear of persecution.  Pray that they would be wise with whom they share their faith with and that they would grow in their walk with God so that their lives who attest to who Jesus is.
6. That Christian literature, bibles, etc would get placed into the hands of those who are seeking out who Jesus is. Pray that the truth of Islam would be revealed and many would come to know Jesus.  Pray that many more missionaries would have a heart to reach this nation.
